Thank you so much for this series, I always enjoy your insightful thoughts and reactions. I think Elliot wasn't indifferent, he was smothered with shame and barely able to go through the motions. Remember how conflicted he was back in season 1 just for saying a few mean things to some poor Steel Mountain employee he didn't even know? Now imagine how he feels threatening to actually destroy the life of someone he deeply relates to and has intimately connected with. The righteous diatribes he mixes in to his demands are meant to shame the bad guys he's hacking, but also to morally distance himself from his prey, position them as people who used their power to abuse others, and give himself the courage to engage in direct face-to-face conflict. This time, when he's accusing her of deserving this for her complicity with bad guys, he knows what he's doing to her is far worse. He's so overwhelmed with guilt he can't muster up any sort of conviction in his justifications, and he can't even bear to look her in the eyes by the end.
I always thought that the character of Mr. Robot isn't really consistent. Like in the first seasons he is basically a complete psychopath who is willing to do everything to get things done. But I guess he just is always just the right way to make Elliot do what he needs to do. When Elliot was still super cautious and confused about everything Mr. Robot was the clear will with all the plans and the determination to get it done, but the more Elliot does stuff on his own and gets away from his principles, the more Mr. Robot has to counterbalance it by being the moral voice in his head.
@@Kuhmuhnistische_Partei MAJOR SPOILER ALERT!!! Mastermind and Mr Robot aren't friends. Mr Robot Dislikes MM quite a lot for forcing Elliot to live in a loop in F-World. MM started fsociety (shown in s2e4) but forgot, so Mr Robot continued it, and brought in MM in s1 premiere. Then whole of season 2 and 3 they fight for having hosting rights over Elliot. And in season4 MM is super shook from Angela's death so Mr Robot narrates in season4 till the plant blows up. All this is very much said out loud in show's narration. So, i dunno how you missed it on rewatch. Elliot has only been awake twice throughout the duration of all 4 seasons (till now).
You're not ready for the next episode)))

3 separate hostage situations in one episode, kudos to the writing!
The previous episode started with Darlene saying “we don’t have to talk” and ended with Vera saying “Now it’s a time to talk”
The casting of this show is incredible - Vera and Janice are terifying.
14:06 LOL you were scared of Vera more than Krista
Amazing reaction as always cant wait for Tomorrows episode!
I think elliot was so indifferent because he needed to be to cope with what he was doing.
oh yes
I love Elliot but what he did here was... unforgivable.
That wasn't Elliot...
@@shneizahdelete this right now!

Mr robot is whatever Eliot needs him to be hence the change ups
You need to rewatch the show after the final reveals are done. It's a perfectly assembled story with no one being ooc.
@@kvm6 I've watched the show like three times. And I feel like you two only read half of my comment.
