    I always look forward to seeing how Brad inserts himself on the thumbnail. It never fails to be entertaining.

    I appreciated that they didn't go overboard with the social media aspect in the Mean Girls musical. It's hard to watch a reboot of a movie that you've seen countless times, without constantly comparing it.

      I was so worried it was gonna go so far over the top with the social media aspect after several moments in the trailer featured, as Brad called it, “Tik Tok vision”. Good to know that isn’t the case. I won’t be able to see it this weekend, but I am excited to see it next weekend. I’m glad it’s at least good

    The best thing about Saltburn was that it brought Murder on the Dancefloor back in the public eye.

    Glad to hear that "Jason Statham Kills People" was a good movie, I always enjoy him. Not really the fanbase for the Mean Girls movie but it might be an interesting sit. Not really interested in Saltburn other than for Rosamund Pike so I will likely give that a miss. Thanks for the reviews Brad!

    I saw mean girls last night. Honestly, as someone who loves the original movie and musical, I liked this one, but felt it was a bit underwhelming in the music category. The actors could sing, but the new arrangements kind of ruined some of the songs

      Coolness, I haven't seen the Stage Show, but I liked this version, and I appreciated that they didn't go overboard with the social media aspect. Renee Rapp was the definite highlight.

    I enjoyed Saltburn and felt very reminiscent of early 00s Brit/UK/Ireland. Esp the soundtrack. Cue MGMT Time to Pretend. Seeing Barry in a lead role was the highlight and surprise, the transformation acting wise in posture/expression from awkward to "the last 10 minutes".. shows us he has the range to pull off lead.

    @26:49-29:52 😂😂😂
    Mean Girls (2024) was good but the original film was 10x better, left a bigger impact on our pop culture as it were being a bit more raw
    These new actors are very good playing these familiar characters being way more diverse particularly Renee Rapp as Regina George and Auli'i Cravalho as Janice
    Gretchen also gets some more development here
    The songs are quite catchy and there's very good choreography being very colorful
    I really do like the camera framework where they start things off on a TikTok video perspective and go into wider angles
    It stinks the actor who plays Aaron is very bland and forgettable
    It's a shame many of the older actors are just background players like John Hamm and Jenna Fischer but there's great cameos by Tina Fey and Tim Meadows even one near the very end I won't spoil
    Definitely jokes in here you couldn't tell as opposed to 20 years ago but I still laughed
    I like how this one takes its own unique modern spin as far as being a larger presence of social media and the modern female politics of high school
    Girls being mean to each other for the sake of it, everyone just wanting to exist together, and the female community having to learn to support each other instead of tearing each other apart
    Lots of clever nods and meta references to the older film while acting as a love letter to teens who just want to fit in being themselves
    I am glad Tina Fey came back as a producer and this makes up for the disappointing direct to video sequel

    Just watched Lindsay Ellis' ET video on Nebula and saw you mentioned in the comments for your "ET-themed porno expertise", Brad. How nice to see two OGs still collaborate, even in small ways.

    I'm glad to know I wasn't the only one who thought Saltburn seems like a splashy remake of "the Talented Mr. Ripley" or "Something for Everyone." I heard they originally wanted Timothee Chalamet for the antagonist role and I can totally see that working.

    • @TrueMithrandir

    • @KittyGoldPaint
      @KittyGoldPaint 9 месяцев назад

      @@TrueMithrandir Better than the Talented Mr. Ripley? How? Tom Ripley is a fleshed out, nuanced character where as what's his names motivation was... what? To make upper middle class people the villain to the rich because they all secretly want to be them? Be richer than he already was? He didn't seem any less shallow then them, so it didn't even feel like an "eat the rich" movie. It honestly felt like they wanted us to have sympathy for the lot of them! What exactly was it trying to convey? I started to feel like the whole movie was the directors vanity project for her years at an ivy league school in the mid 2000's.
      It was never boring and the actors & the cinematography were good, but the third act was asking way too much in the form of suspension of belief!
