The backstory of how he was allowed into the Interzonal tournament was completely necessary. Thanks. No need to apologize about the long intro. Chess games without a story are just chess games. Stories make them much more interesting.
You are absolutely correct. Also, there needs to be a new eponym, the word "agadmatorism." It's a noun, meaning "a clever philosophic quip related to the accumulation of chess knowledge, in particular when this knowledge is extremely arcane."
Amazing how Fischer made it look so easy against strong players like Smyslov and many others. This tournament was incredibly strong and he came out with one of the most incredible results we've ever seen. I don't expect to see anything like it ever again.
Yes!!! I'm confident that I will never read the letters back 'n forth, (Fischer vs organizers), but I'd love to hear more. Dogadmator on the upside down treadmill is always a bonus too. 👍
Bobby Fischer's games come across so deceptively simple and accurate that's its mind boggling. The highly instructive nature of his games is why he is one of my all time favorite players along with Capablanca. Agad, thank you very much for giving us this amazing series and expanding our vast chess knowledge!
you say "highly instructive", i don't agree. i learn nothing from him. it is just a different kinda game altogether. Not my favourite player, but he was a bloody demon, to be sure!
I'm a novice chess player and I thoroughly enjoyed watching these videos!! They weren't boring nor were they too slow. They were, in fact, very balanced and interesting. I really don't like it when people talk so slow. I would usually speed up the videos to 1.5. With yours, however, I kept rewinding it! I wanted the content to really sink in so I can take some mental notes. So, please don't apologise for the length of the intro. As some of the commenters said, a chess game is just a chess game. I'm sure your subscribers love learning new things. As a new subscriber, I look forward to seeing more of your content!!!
Do not apologize to the haters. It takes one click to skip the set-up if you don't want to hear it, but for those of us who watch your channel because we love chess, not just watching a chess commentary, it's always appreciated!
#suggestion I am one of your earliest subscriber. And i love what you do. I wait for you videos every day. I am not a person with vast knowledge about chess but i love the game in itself and especially how you make it easy for us. A small suggestion for you is for the photo challenge that you give. Can you please tell us the answers while showing the photos of the previous photo challenge. Coz we dont know who is who. And if we see the answer also while you show us the photo, that would be great. And this way our knowledge will be increased. Thank you Keep up the good work.
It's amazing how huge this interzonal tournament is, and how many famous chess players were competing in this very steppingstone to the Candidates'. Fischer, Smyslov, Taimanov, Reshevsky, Larsen, Geller, Gligoric...
I liked ur long introduction before game in last video. And yaa, it will definitely improve my already vaaaaaast knowledge, lol. No worries at all about it.
Your dog on the sofa adds the greatest touch! (Chess, is of course the real great touch here, but what can I say, I like dogs!) Great Channel, by the way, I love your analysis and fun facts, etc.
#Suggestion, Please make a video of Rafael vaganian vs Victor kupreichik (Leningrad 1974) where vaganian played his own vaganian gambit over the board for the first time. It's an aggressive game like tal game
Please do not listen to the complainers. I love the historical background stories and I also like the tournament results for context. This was nearly 50 years ago people! Knowing how WWI turned out doesn't spoil a good war documentary! Same goes here as far as I am concerned. Please just keep doing what you do. Love your channel for all the reasons that it is NOT like other chess channels.
5:27 I really like that Bobby took the queen with e pawn so white couldn't make any troubles with his bishop and rook on f7 pawn.(although his h pawn became weak) It shows how far Bobby could see.
At 3:19 A simpler mate in two would have been Qxe3+ followed by the Queen blocking on e2 and then black finishes off by taking the white Queen on e2 with mate as the white bishop on a6 protects it. Or am I wrong?
Hello Agadmator, I have a question. When you give the puzzle at 3:14, is it also possible for black to win in this way : 1: Qxe3 - Qe2 2: Qxe2# . I may miss something. Thanks for your answer. Edit : I just saw my mistake, white can capture the queen. My bad.
"If you want you can pause the video - you won't need to pause it for long" - so I think for about 10 minutes and find Ra-d8. No, it's not even that....
as you said it was magnificent and the analysis, but it sometimes moves too fast for me to keep up i guess you can't explore every possible alternative move because then it would take too long
Hi, 6.10 min, an alternative move, if you place the rook to the right top corner and allow to remove the black pawn hindering the white piece to complete the squares and revive the white Queen? Do you think it will be a wrong choice?
Hi ! Some suggestion ... may be you will flip the board towards the viewers when showing the games that "the main hero" played by the black pieces ?! It slightly uncomfortable to be on the white side when watching the game, Fischer played by black. Thank you for your work !
If you dont play chess at all then its a bit difficult to explain. But assuming you know a little bit, a rook defending a pawn or piece from a single square is never a good idea. It can easily be kicked away from that square. Like h3 here. Plus, the rook on h3 will have no influence on any squares outside of the h file. It will just remain like a useless furniture. Generally if you are in such a situation, a better option would be to just give up the pawn and use the rook for some other purpose. In this game white was 1-3 down on pawns. So giving up that one pawn was hopeless. 0-3 is just a plain losing position.
I'm just guessing at what you're planning for showing standings in the actual candidates tournament. I'm guessing you'll show the standings based on the round we see bobby Fisher playing in. For example let's say we see the fischer game from round five of the candidates, then at the end of the video we will see the standings for the candidates from round five. Is this accurate?
Not a great chess player myself, but an idea that I had... At 2:43, I wonder what Smyslov would have played if Bobby played Ncb4 threatening Qxa1 and Nc2 to fork the king and queen... great players please enlighten me what would have happened if Bobby played that move... i mean if the rook moves grab the a2 pawn isn't that a good idea?
"..by Bobbys perspective." was one of the last things you said in the video, which got me thinking. I dont know about your other subscribers, but in series like this, _about_ Bobby, atleast i would like to see black down-board when Bobby is black...? Anyone else?=)
Dont worry we love the long intro the game and to increase our vast knowledge

The backstory of how he was allowed into the Interzonal tournament was completely necessary. Thanks. No need to apologize about the long intro. Chess games without a story are just chess games. Stories make them much more interesting.
Agreed.
I truly love the doggo chilling out on the sofa.
That dog is living the life.
Your vast knowledge will not increase by itself. LOL
Facts of life!
I was going to post the very same thing. You beat me by a half hour. :-)
Someone should compile Agadmator's philosophical quotes.
You are absolutely correct. Also, there needs to be a new eponym, the word "agadmatorism." It's a noun, meaning "a clever philosophic quip related to the accumulation of chess knowledge, in particular when this knowledge is extremely arcane."
You got them good!
3:07 Agad: "You don't have to pause the video for a long time"
Me after pausing for 10min.: *Begins to sweat*
Lol I didn't even find it, I thought Rook D8 😭
I thought Ne5 didn't work for some reason, so I found Nb4 instead, with the same threat and almost the same results.
Queen to e2 is checkmate isn't it, cause if white Queen blocks then the black queen takes it backed up by the bishop.
Amazing how Fischer made it look so easy against strong players like Smyslov and many others. This tournament was incredibly strong and he came out with one of the most incredible results we've ever seen. I don't expect to see anything like it ever again.
Simone Miglioli I'm not sure what you mean. Fischer won with 18.5 and next closest was 15 (three people tied there). Reshevsky ended well out at 9.5.
"sorry about the long intro.... but your vast knowledge will not increase by itself" - love this guy!
Yes I really like the stories about some of these brilliant, but often somewhat damaged, figures from the history of Chess
Loved the story on yesterday's video. Don't let the haters get to you. You're the man!
Agreed!
Yes!!!
I'm confident that I will never read the letters back 'n forth, (Fischer vs organizers), but I'd love to hear more.
Dogadmator on the upside down treadmill is always a bonus too. 👍
What haters? Lol
Bård Rønnebu ghosts
Damn you are getting more and more famous..your video seems to be trending 3000th place in India.
I think it's worldwide since it says it for me as well (Poland).
is that the #2992?
Pureu yeah. I never though so many people love chess...even non players watch agad..he's that good

The dog at the start of the video was Soooooo
Adorable and Cute!
Your chess channel is the best b/c your stories & explanations increase our vast knowledge. Please keep up the great work!
Just open youtube after a long and tiring day, and your video is in front of me uploaded 3 mins ago, this is quite a treat for me
Our vast knowledge loves your dog. It's so adorable in the background
Impressive game, as always from Bobby, thanks for covering :)

This is simply one of the greatest channels on youtube. Many thanks from Paris!
Thanks!
Do not apologize to the haters. It takes one click to skip the set-up if you don't want to hear it, but for those of us who watch your channel because we love chess, not just watching a chess commentary, it's always appreciated!
Intros are something that add to the quality of your videos . Always keep up the good work Agadmator.

Great. First time i see ad on this channel. Bravo
Favourite thing in the videos - when showing a variation "you lose the queen, and the game"
An intro to game is necessary as every chess lovers put interest in knowing a bit more about legendary Bobby Fischer.
I love chess AND history so your channel is the best blend of the things I love
It's amazing how huge this interzonal tournament is, and how many famous chess players were competing in this very steppingstone to the Candidates'. Fischer, Smyslov, Taimanov, Reshevsky, Larsen, Geller, Gligoric...
I love you man thanks for doing these.
Cant believe this is on 2992 thending... Thanks for providing this great content
Agadmator makes chess look like a movie, your commentary is awesome, your fans love you . What more can i say?
your dog has been steadily winning my heart... wth was he/she doing at the beggining?! haha love it
I never knew chess was so epic.. I've been watching all of the videos here and I'm so in love with it !
Great job Bobby, thanks for the video Antonio
I liked ur long introduction before game in last video.
And yaa, it will definitely improve my already vaaaaaast knowledge, lol.
No worries at all about it.
Loved the intro in the last game, it was very good!
Your dog on the sofa adds the greatest touch! (Chess, is of course the real great touch here, but what can I say, I like dogs!) Great Channel, by the way, I love your analysis and fun facts, etc.
Thanks agad for this series..
Haha i Love how your dog is always having fun in the background
was waiting for your video. thanks
Was waiting for it thanks Agadmator
Another great video. Thanks.
At 4:28 why did white capture the bishop with the B pawn, and not take the queen?
The bishop took with check.
#Suggestion, Please make a video of Rafael vaganian vs Victor kupreichik (Leningrad 1974) where vaganian played his own vaganian gambit over the board for the first time. It's an aggressive game like tal game

"Let's not show it untill the end of the series." *showing it* Loving it.
5:27 I really like that Bobby took the queen with e pawn so white couldn't make any troubles with his bishop and rook on f7 pawn.(although his h pawn became weak)
It shows how far Bobby could see.
1. Doggo backstroke
Best by test.
How do you lose the game @ 4:07? Meaning it's only a matter of time? I don't see a quick death.
At 3:19 A simpler mate in two would have been Qxe3+ followed by the Queen blocking on e2 and then black finishes off by taking the white Queen on e2 with mate as the white bishop on a6 protects it. Or am I wrong?
No need for apologies. That long intro was a treat
Dude the videos where you dog is rolling on the couch make my day.
Your vast knowledge will not increase by itself. Love that comment
So far Fischer 1 - Russian machine 0, with knight blunder Smyslov opened a big can of whoop ass. Let the crushing continue.
Was it a blunder? Or did Fischer exploit a small inaccuracy in the opening?
I'd say an inaccuracy.
Medo seems super excited at this video!
Hello Agadmator, I have a question. When you give the puzzle at 3:14, is it also possible for black to win in this way :
1: Qxe3 - Qe2
2: Qxe2# .
I may miss something. Thanks for your answer.
Edit : I just saw my mistake, white can capture the queen. My bad.
Nop Rahul, I just didn't pay attention enough. By the way, you can see it when I edited. Thank you for this useful comment. I hope you feel happy now.
It's fine.
Amazing commentary.
Keep up the agadmazing work :D
You did not spoil the result it is in the past, but the analysis is in the future
We don't care about length of the videos Antonio,as long as it helps us impress a few chicks with the VAST KNOWLEDGE of Bobby Fischer😁
"If you want you can pause the video - you won't need to pause it for long" - so I think for about 10 minutes and find Ra-d8. No, it's not even that....
I love my lack of vast knowledge. I forget what happened in the games i've watched... and then i just rewatch it for more enjoyment! :D
we like the long intros to develop our vast knowledge
as you said it was magnificent and the analysis, but it sometimes moves too fast for me to keep up
i guess you can't explore every possible alternative move because then it would take too long
If there was something I want to check out you can find the game and analyze the position with an engine.
3:16 What about knight to b4 instead of e5 with the same intention?
Thank you agadmator.
Quality, as ever!
incredible game!
Great saga you are doing! Keep up the good work :)
Please upload atleast 2 videos per day
I also appreciate historical intros! What's the meaning of the title "Stronger than Logic" here? Just wondering
It is my hope that, one day, my vast knowledge will in fact become self-replicating.
Nice game your dog was more active in the begining of the video.
you're the best! :)
I don't play chess. Can someone tell me why rook to H3 ain't good at 9:04?
If you dont play chess at all then its a bit difficult to explain. But assuming you know a little bit, a rook defending a pawn or piece from a single square is never a good idea. It can easily be kicked away from that square. Like h3 here. Plus, the rook on h3 will have no influence on any squares outside of the h file. It will just remain like a useless furniture. So giving up that one pawn was hopeless. 0-3 is just a plain losing position.
thank you
I liked the intro. But maybe for those who dont you could write a time in the comments where the Game starts.
Exactly. I think that's the best solution since people seem to complain about everything. Good idea. #suggestion
You don't have to worry about giving away the winner. If Fischer is playing, we already know who wins.
Ok, I had enough. Good game Bobby.
Here it is... Bobby with some great moves with his Knight and defeating the Bishop....
That is the plan :)
Not a great chess player myself, but an idea that I had...
At 2:43, I wonder what Smyslov would have played if Bobby played Ncb4 threatening Qxa1 and Nc2 to fork the king and queen... great players please enlighten me what would have happened if Bobby played that move... i mean if the rook moves grab the a2 pawn isn't that a good idea?
castle and everything's fine, it's just a loss of a tempo
stiv bucket i see... thank you ^_^
Not sure if the great snake variation is a nick name for the dragon or is there such a thing :D
#suggestion Leela vs. Gull 3 (ID 395)
I've just watched this game on ChessNetwork and was stunned by this beautiful miniature. Have a look:
1. d4 Nf6 2. c4 e6 3. Nc3 Bb4 4. e3 O-O 5. Bd3 { E47 Nimzo-Indian Defense: Normal Variation, Bishop Attack } b6 6. e4 Bb7 7. e5 Bxg2 8. exf6 g6 9. Bg5 Bxh1 10. Qg4 d5 11. Qh4 Nd7 12. f3 Rb8 13. Kf2 dxc4 14. Be4 c5 15. Bxg6 hxg6 16. Ne4 Bd2 17. Bxd2 cxd4 18. Bg5 Qc7 19. Qh6 Qxh2+ 20. Qxh2 Ne5
A perfect example of Fischer's style, just an inaccuracy by Smyslov and immediately Bobby capitalizes on it!
if someone doesnt want to watch the long intro they can just skip it..
Hey agad, do you still have that Skull with the headphones?
Of course
Your dog enjoys your job alot ;)
"..by Bobbys perspective." was one of the last things you said in the video, which got me thinking. I dont know about your other subscribers, but in series like this, _about_ Bobby, atleast i would like to see black down-board when Bobby is black...? Anyone else?=)
"Your vast knowledge will not increase by itself." That is why we watch these videos.
am i missing something or is queen to e4 when you ask to pause mate in 2?
3:14 how about knight b4 ?
3:20 Why not Nd4?
just passing through
By wasting so many moves to get rid of the bishop he just gave Fisher one or two extra tempos to do whatever he wants and win easily.
At 3:00 why is ...Ne5 better than ...Nb4? If ...Ne4 Be5 Rfd8 Rc1 the black Q has to leave the a5-e1 diagonal. Ne5 is a little better than Ng4.
Pardon my ignorance, but after Fischer plays Nxc4, why couldn't Smyslov play Qxc3?
Hey, you're trending 2,992th in America at least. Glad to see chess getting trending
I have no idea what that means :)
Just curious. Why was Rashid Nezhmetdinov not part of this tournament?
not qualified..BTW he is not GM
#2922? What is that?
I'm glad it's not just me that sees that.
do U plan to review a strongest CPUvsCPU ???
