    Beautiful compilation. Once when Lou was playing he made the last out of a game and was so pissed that he just kept running down the first base line, all the way into the bullpen. He then exited the stadium, still in his uniform, and hailed a cab home.

    I met Lou when Marge Schott hired him in Cincinnati. He stayed in the hotel I was working at as a bellman. Great guy; stayed around signing autographs for the kids, treated the hotel staff like gold, a truly nice man, But put on the uniform and out on the field and it was pure passion that often boiled over. When he famously picked up and threw then kicked the base during an argument, the local station WLW 700AM held a contest on fountain square the next day to see if you could throw and kick the base further than Lou.

    • @1bobini
      @1bobini 5 лет назад

      937mike, I remember Lou getting upset at home plate umpire when he was a ball player for the Yankees. The umpire was calling strikes against him when it looked like bad calls against him. Yes, he got ejected. He is passionate about baseball.

    It's too bad we didn't have in the 90's the quality of media coverage we had towards the end of Lou's career when he managed the Cubs, because a lot of those Cincinnati and Seattle blowups were legendary, but we don't have much video from them.

    6:09 Lou Pinella's 2010 Cubs were not doing well, and White Sox announcer Steve Stone suggested Lou play a younger player named Tyler Colvin more. Lou had three pretty good outfielders Soriano, Byrd and Fukudome) and later explained he wanted all of them playing but obviously was ticked an announcer said it who never talked to him. Colvin hit 20 hrs that year to lead the team but had a short non productive career after that year, but did have a good season for the Rockies in 2018 and 18 hrs for the Rockies.

They asked Sweet Lou why not, and Lou said he had a sore shoulder. Dibble was asked this by the same reporter and it appears he politely contradicted Sweet Lou and Lou exploded.
