your bookshelf and your room in general are so aesthetically pleasing :') you should make a video about the moodboard in front of your desk, would be nice to have a closer look
I was in love with the invention of Hugo Cabret when I was eleven ! I never wanted to watch the movie because i didn't want my special perception to be erase... The bookshelf in your room is stunning !
Lovely bookshelf styling. You've got a great collection and you've styled them beautifully. I can't get behind Six of crows, but I really like your classics shelf and I agree, the Heartstopper art style is amazing.
Omg u adore Oscar Wilde, is into dark acedemia and love soc too!! Damn our taste are so similar I'm gonna read any book u praise! Oh the infernal devices is also my fav trilogy of all time, and it's kinda dark acedemia too, u should check it out!
I loved this video! I actually just ordered a copy of The Happy Prince because I read a few of the stories in secondary school and I really enjoyed them and I want to read the rest of them. I was actually going to get you a copy of The Complete Works of Oscar Wilde for Christmas but I was 99% sure you would already have a copy 😆❤️
Highly rec Emily Wilson's translation of the Odyssey. I read Fitzgerald when I was in high school which is honestly stuffy and miserable but Wilson's translation is so beautiful and lyrical and very much worth the read!!
Konmari got my Harry Potters a couple years ago and I haven’t missed them tbh. I got some good book recs from this video, thank you! I love how your bookshelf looks. Mine’s a bit of a mess, but thankfully it goes with the aesthetic (my bookcase is a unique design where all the shelves are different sizes, the smallest cubby only holds two books!).
I too love Dorian Gray. I first became acquainted with this book @ my old job where there used to be an older gentleman who people said looked older than his dad. Thus, the fellow cogs baptized him Dorian Gray
I think it is okay if you still enjoy and love the hp-universe, I do too.. I just don‘t buy anything related to it anymore because I genuinly don‘t want to support rowling anymore. It kinda sucks that someone like her wrote something that is so important and dear to me. But I won‘t let her ruin that for me. The stories are great, she isn‘t. I just don‘t talk about her anymore
First she was misquoted and second this woke culture is scary. I don't like the opinions of some writers but I can se the difference between books and the writers
I don‘t see why it should be scary if a consumer decides not to put their money towards someone/something? It is basic economy. If you make the difference that is up to you and in my opinion valid. But I in some cases don‘t which should be just as valid. Even if it isn‘t, I am still the one that decides where I invest my money and where I don‘t. So at the end of the day it doesn‘t really matter, does it? And to be fair I don‘t think JK Rowling is someone who will be at big loss if a big number of people don‘t buy her stuff anymore.. But I agree with you that cancel culture can be problematic in some cases @@katarinasvensson9801
Its so insane, she raves about edgar allan poe who married his cousin when she was a child and oscar wilde who has inappropriate relationships with teenage boys but, Rowling saying sex-based oppression is real is where the moral line must be drawn 😭😭😭
For me the difference is that JK Rowling is a contemporary author. So I personally like to compare my moral and ethical values with hers. And if they don‘t match in some core values I hold, I don‘t see the point of supporting her anymore. But with an author that is long dead and is not anymore profiting from my money I don‘t care as much because they are not profiting anymore. @@sadbutrad5324
If you don’t like the author then just put the books away in a box somewhere and make space on your bookshelf, also the wand and the acceptance letter too
There are multiple instances of bigotry in the books including antisemitism regarding the goblins in gringotts, racism in JKR’s decision to name a character “cho chang”, and literally only revealing a character is queer until after the books are published. And those are just the examples I thought of off the top of my head. I would definitely recommend researching this further because it’s definitely worth being aware of. But the main reason I dislike JKR is because she’s a TERF
@@_isabellaathena I don't like JK either but I'm not seeing anything in the books problematic besides the naming of Cho Chang... and besides her name there isn't anything racist about her writing. The way the goblins, brownies(edit: house elves in HP are brownies, realized that would be confusing for people not into mythology since they never called them brownies), trolls, giants, centaurs etc were written follows old conventions that literally everyone uses so I can't see how that's antisematic. Like you can literally look at books from hundred of years ago and the descriptions match what JK and every other modern story teller writes goblins as. Goblins are hook nosed, short and greedy in lord of the rings, and in basically every other movie where they're included, and even in *anime* like goblin slayer. I have a childrens book on my shelf, published in 1983, The Forest of Doom, and even his goblins look identical to hers... minus the suits. I don't own any books older than that, but if you see them on wikipedia or in museums the character descriptions are identical. the only difference between traditional goblins and JKs goblins is that hers are civilised, well dressed and can speak. I know some people really can't seperate the artist from the work but all her bigotry has come out after the books, she claims characters are black which were written white, or gay when written to be straight. But very little of her own problematic views made it into the books. Either she really kept out her views to make sure it was a hit. Or her editor is a angel. Either way none of her bigotry besides naming Cho Chang is in the book and sometimes I think art takes a life of it's own and you can appreciate it separately from the artist who made it. Eg everyone likes leonardo da vinci's work despite the fact he had a slave. If you can't appreciate a work as being a separate entity to the creator then you wouldn't be able to do much of anything, no cars, no electronics, very few books etc because you can be assured there was at least one bigot involved in it's making.
@@Mel-qr5ob thank you!! All of this 100%. It’s good to separate JK from the works. You can literally find more of this in a lot of the books that were on that bookshelf but I also have to put the time they were released in and know i can’t see everything from today’s lense! I’m glad we are evolving though.
Hi. Is the uncensored version of the picture of Dorian gray different from the popular editions? Loved the video 💛 your dark academia shelf looks amazing 😍
Thank you for this interesting and inspiring video. Have you thought about giving the Harry Potter series away for free or to a charity shop? And I am a little envy about your reading chair! It looks lovely!
It is important to be critical of the media we consume, even the media we enjoy. We can enjoy Harry Potter but also be aware of the bigotry that exists in the books because it most definitely is there.
suggestion for the HP books: reread them for a final time & annotate them with all of the bigotry & any examples of social justice, if there are any !! AND THE THIRD GRADE DICTIONARY!!!!!!
I love how you organize your bookshelfs. I also don't like JK, I actually sold all my HP books (all of them anotated), I only keep one because the anotations were a bit personal. It felt good to get rid of them.
I'm obsessed with your new shelf layout! It's absolutely stunning!

Hugo was one of my favorite movies too when I was a kid! It’s so wonderful!
That marble owl book support is gorgeous. It's very encouraging to see at least, some of the younger generation, careing for books.
One of my priced possessions is also a Byron book. The Partial Works of Byron from 1872.
i think that just because of jk Rowling's action (with are bad) there is no need to hate on the books
10:26 any source materials or like to further illustrate on these claims?
god you’re so beautiful and you books are amazing !!!!!! comfort person 🤎

Yes, it is the original text unedited by publishers.
Shouldn’t the book shelves be brown or black?
heyy i love Killjoys ;) read National Anthem next!!!
This is amazing! :)
I’ve been getting into reading again lately and I barely have any books. Do you have any good fiction book recommendations?? 💕
you can watch my recent video I made about my favorite books I read in 2020! there are some great books in that video!

Why should I like that series? It’s filled with bigotry and JKR is a terrible person.
That was an amazing video! When I see a person who read PJO I feel like see an old friend. Rick Riordan is amazing person and writer.
I absolutely adore PJO and all of Rick Riordan’s books too! PJO fans are honestly the best people😆
The Frankenstien book cover is disgusting
