    I have a couple thousand mason bees nesting in my backyard. A variety of nesting; natural hollow stems, holes in wooden blocks (most popular) and openable/harvestable wooden trays (for controlled release in spring, when weather is optimal). Love the buzzy bees, they are finally emerging this week!!
    We mainly have Osmia Cornuta and Osmia Rufa. They don't mind a SW orientation.

    I have fallen in love with the paper wasps in our small yard in Texas. I want to encourage more bees and wasps. My question is, are there any wasps/bees that I can attract who are mosquito predators? If so, the best hotel that they will want to live in? 🙏

    Thanks for informing us about the dangers of plastic straws! I did not know they cause 90% mortality to bees! So PVC pipe is ok? I purchased a bee hotel online and the container is actually plastic. But the straws are cardboard. I hope bees will be ok.

    what if I make 6 inch deep holes in a foam board and place paper tubes in those, will the bees nest in there?

    This is a great video! I found it hard to hear you, though. Can I suggest you use a microphone in making videos like this, so that you can be clearly understood? Thanks!

      Thanks for the tip! I did have a microphone but In my office it is really hard to reduce the echo, I will try some electronic fixes in the future.

    I'd like to make one! Is there a season the bees will most likely be looking for a nest? Or is it all year round?

    • @TheBeesInYourBackyard
      @TheBeesInYourBackyard  3 года назад

      Spring is best but some bees will also be looking in mid summer, after that there will not be as much new nesting going on
