Thank you so much! While getting better at open guard, I focus so much on simply finding the grips. I forget to keep the passer busy and threaten with off balancing and posture breaking. Especially when guys are bigger and stronger.
Amazing video, the ideas and supporting details are so well founded and thought out. It is just practice and study. Jiu Jitsu is indeed like a collegiate course, it is broken down into so many blocks that you could teach this in half semesters, 8 weeks. AOJ, Rafa, do you accept the G. I. Bill?
Bom dia, primeiramente parabens! Miranda
There's a reason these two were so dominant. They are prepared and they are intelligent. No other Brazilians have learned English as well as them. I hate the white aesthetic but it's part of their perfectionism and it comes with obsessive attention to detail.
The white comes from Japanese Philosophy and is meant to be a symbol of shedding your identity of who you are outside of the dojo. In the dojo who you are as a Martial Artist is all that matters.
white on white makes it hard to distinguish the boundaries of shapes here, visually... Maybe they should consider different lighting or something since I know they enforce white gi's only.
My BJJ that I attend is really clean with white mats too which I real like as a person who likes to clean I sometimes ask my instructor if I can help clean that way the gym can stay clean. The white walls make the place look even more clean.
NefariousPorpoise we are require to step our feet into a solution and then wiping it clean on a towel every time we step on the mat. and i was mistaken when i said weekly. they actually clean it every other day.
Abraxxx Oss
I'm not hating on the school at all I think it is by FAR the best BJJ school on the planet for competition. The most agile and effective students I've ever seen.

"VISITOR RULES: ONLY WHITE UNIFORMS WITHOUT ANY OTHER ACADEMY PATCHES ARE ALLOWED." Wow, full of yourself much? Do you also require the promise of a first born?
Unless you’re a guest of the professor who’s coming for a seminar, and you’re just coming as a visitor, you either wear a plain white gi, or buy or borrow one from the school you are visiting. That’s the standard rule.
This is amazing. Rafa is the best instructor and the best practitioner of BJJ on the planet.
Can't even begin to explain how much we appreciate these technique videos.
OSS my brother!
Steve Woz literally a £50 seminar here.
This is pure gold. Thank you, Professor Rafa

Young Blue Belt Tainan Dalpra is the training partner ... you can see how it all began!
I wonder how much work they spend to keep this gym white and clean like this.
My BJJ that I attend is really clean with white mats too which I real like as a person who likes to clean I sometimes ask my instructor if I can help clean that way the gym can stay clean. The white walls make the place look even more clean.
Carlos Sanchez well every gym cleans weekly. I'm just wondering if it stains yellow over time.
If your gym only cleans weekly you need to find a new gym. We clean our mats twice a day.
NefariousPorpoise we are require to step our feet into a solution and then wiping it clean on a towel every time we step on the mat. and i was mistaken when i said weekly. they actually clean it every other day.
I was thinking the same thing about how crazy clean the place looks.
great thanks!
Grazie!👊

Wow find an another world in bjj
ODEIO professor que fala pra caralho mas amo o rafa :)
podia ter legenda😔
Great instructions, but holy shit if I were a student in there and we waited 20 minutes just to try the move I'd be losing my shit.
+NateTheItalianStallion It was a seminar I believe. Besides, there were several breaks in that 20 min period.
SubFlow22 Seminar at his own gym though? For some reason I find that financially not a swell idea.
+TheItalionStallion Looks like they waste a bunch of time doing calisthenics in their classes too.
+ spirit slice No, they don't. I trained there. Calisthenics are part of the warm up.
I'm not hating on the school at all I think it is by FAR the best BJJ school on the planet for competition. The most agile and effective students I've ever seen.

if u see mahamed against nicholas at 19 finals. u will see him doing the wrong things. head down, showing the elbow and poor posture.
Pra mim esses irmãos Mendes simplesmente tem vergonha de ser brasileiro. 👎🏻

thats pretty standard at most elite bjj gyms to be honest

That’s the standard rule.
If you visit Gracie Barra, they make you wear their Gi and rash guard ... is what it is
