Damn , This stuff was soo lyrically dark with perfect sound behind it. I get chills listening to It today…, Dulli. And drugs went together so well…. lol. No more drugs but still addicted to Greg’s passion!!! 🤙🏽
I saw them at Hara Arena in Dayton with the Breeders, and even standing at the back of an ice hockey area, you could feel Dulli's charisma sucking you in. Great band.
I've quickly become obsessed with the Whigs (and Twilight Singers, and Gutter Twins haha) in recent days. I used to listen to them back in the day, but I just wasn't in the right place in my life to understand...but I am now. So fucking amazing.
I love this song and the whigs, every once in a while I get obsessed with them again, their music is incredibly true, painful, violent, clever, I can't even define it. However in this video I don't like Gulli's singing, seems like he can't breathe..and yes, the gutter twins are also awsome, I love him
Yes, it's called Gentlemen. Also get Black Love, 1965, and Congregation. And check out Twilight Singers (Dulli's current main band)...I like all five of their albums, but particularly recommend Blackberry Belle and Powder Burns. And their Live in New York live album is fantastic listening too.
John Curley's vocals here are so esoteric!! Great guy as well! Also, the rest of the band are flying (Maybe in more ways than one!!) and in top form here!
If I ever get married, I'm going to make sure they play "What Jail Is Really Like" at the ceremony in hopes it will snap me out of it before I say "I Do"!
Most underrated band of my life-time.
***** Yeah, its totally Rock Star.
Unfair? One of my faves for sure... facebook.com/mediattackmp4
Unfair? I guess they got worried about Post Hardline Classic Rock causing suicide, because their comebacks bit the hard one.
Unfair? Kill 'em all for fuck's sake...
I agree i was 18 old and Gentleman was for me a masterpiece

saw them in 1993 and it affected me greatly....great band
Back then we took those bands for granted
you nailed it
because the vast sea of killer artists was so immense
almost everybody was bitchin
Seen em in 96-97ish Black Love just came out. Could not believe the club was nearly empty. (Landsdowne st Boston) Great Band massively underrated
As smn said - I'd kill to be there 😅

Great performance. Also, Greg Dulli is playing a vintage rosewood Tele.
I saw them in SLC around this time. I had a blast dancing in front of the stage at a club called DV8.
The way those guys played their guitars, you'd think their fingers would be bleeding at the end of their set. Intense, like the lyrics.

@ttidforever7416 do you know what 'esoteric' means?
AFGHAN WHIGS- DEBONAIR !!!
Original drummer, Steve Earle//What a difference..
I always wondered why they sacked him. He seemed a bit bitter about it, but regardless, they sounded phenomenal!
Saw them in Birmingham in the mid 90s and he was already gone. Someone heckled 'where is Steve?' And Greg somewhat sadly said 'somewhere, drunk'.
Und man bemerke, keine behämmerten Tattoos! Ging damals noch.
Heute hat jeder bwl Fitness fuzzi mehr tattoos als henry rollins. Wir leben in erbärmlichen Zeiten.😂
