@@xx-ug9hn Nah, Auto-Tune ruined rock. Everything these days sounds robotic; all the humanity got stripped out. The 90s were true rock 'n' roll's last, great, balls to the wall moment.
There are some. I've been looking at the musical guests for SNL and most of them are solo artists or not rock. For example, for season 49, only 2 musical guests were not solo-- the Foo Fighters and Boygenius, who I like. season 20 featured 11 bands. That a HUGE difference.

I remember all the people with bad taste in music back then not "getting" the genius of the Afghan Whigs and thinking they sucked. MTV tried to push them for a while but I knew they'd never catch on huge. Everyone wanted to hear Del Amitri or some shit.
25 years later, I still know exactly why I had an all-out star-crush on Tanya Donnelly. There has been no hotter female singer in an alternative band since that girl in Bow Wow Wow, but I think she was underage.
I'll second that. She is a beautiful person in every way and an amazing songwriter. I met her some years ago when she was playing a small theater as a solo artist and told her that I had a mad crush on her when I was a teenager and I ended up marrying a girl who looks a lot like her. She said she's heard about a lot of guys crushing on her and has never understood it. She doesn't think she's anything special.
53 is the new 33. I love turning up the volume on the Afghan Whigs Gentlemen and especially Black Love. Greg Dulli can really spin some dark and twisted stories in his songs
Anyone actually click on this for the other tweo bands? I have a feeling it was all about Greg Dulli / Afghan Whigs performance, and maybe the cig chug. lol
I had to stop watching Belly performance for that super irritating bass player. Did she really think she was hip? Why did Fred Abong leave Belly? They were such a great band before he left. Hiring this no-talent bass player instead of Fred was the beginning of end for Belly. Listned to Tanya solo work (Lovesongs, whiskey tango..) - definitely better than King or Dove.
Fred Abong left for the same reason that Leslie Langstone left Throwing Muses who Fred replaced. They were fed up with the music industry and went to live a normal life.
Thank goodness for Gen X, as far as music goes.
And thank goodness for Kim Deal.
Greg Dulli is the best front man - fucking force. Been a fan since the 80's
Afghan Whigs didn't mess around
The Whigs were on fire!
The Deal sisters are awesome
6:39 Belly's performance of "Gepetto" was absolutely magnificent! OMG! \m/ \m/
Wow! Thanks for posting 😊 90’s kid here with attachment for Belly ❤
God I miss the 90’s. Where have all the good rock bands gone.... seriously, there is nothing these days.
David Hudson you just aren't looking for it
There's so many great bands now, same as anytime

He had some kick ass performances on that show. I found some Helmet stuff that was incredible, then this blew my mind.
Great video, thanks for uploading. Saw The Breeders live this week, seeing Belly in a couple! It's like 1993 all over! :)
I love and miss old school Dulli
Yup, he didn't fk around
Have you been to a show recently? He still has it.
I have loved Belly since the early nineties. Always makes me feel good. I used to play the shit out of them after mountain biking!
I didn't know the Breeders ever played Mad Lucas in their original run, wow!
25 years later, I still know exactly why I had an all-out star-crush on Tanya Donnelly. There has been no hotter female singer in an alternative band since that girl in Bow Wow Wow, but I think she was underage.
I don't think so (she was 27 in 1993).
julosx Not Tanya, I was referring to the chick from Bow Wow Wow. LOL.

i know this is a year later now, but you should check out Eisley. The lead, Sherri has strong Tanya vibes.
Annabella Nguyen
BRAVIII. BRAVEEEEE!!!
Hannah Montana on bass.
damn i feel old....53
Same same. But we have the unique experience of knowing the 80's and 90's before social media. IT's golden

época boa
Morrisey on guitar
omg belly! so good!!!
Fuck yea
Awesome. As cool as Kim Deal.
wow, when you see singers nowadays, singing with autotune or lipsynching and not playing any instrument, you feel depressed.
11:01 The Afghan Whigs - Gentleman
One of my favorite albums of all time...
@@kitoyobeni1 Black Love was also super
@@igotjams1 1965 was also great!
what Afghan Whigs song is that?
Gentleman!!!!!!
The nurture song
Gentlemen
"Understand, I'm a gentleman, a gentle man. Now git yo ass over here!"

No. While I enjoyed Afghan Whigs, my click started & ended with Kim Deal.
I clicked for the Breeders but i enjoyed a lot Afghan Whigs, Belly was ok 😅
What is the inspiration to this tune? General rage against the machine??? Solid tune for sure from a bunch of chicks.
you're gonna have to be more specific! Which tune, which "bunch of chicks"?
who knows the name of the second Breeders song here? Help, pls.
Йося Джугашвили
Mad Lucas

tnx a lot, man. Charming song.
How you about new album?
"Mad Lucas" - 9th song on the album, Last Splash
Love the new album. Some great stuff. Better than the last 2. Almost as good as their first album Pod.
Pod was an awesome album! That was back when Tanya Donnely, the lead singer of Belly, was with them!
I wish i dated one of the Deal sisters in the 90s
yeah ya do
meh. i'm not surprised the 'afghan wHigs went' mostly noWHere. never heard of them an d i listen to them now, i'm not inspired at ALL.
You were either too young or listening to burned out Arrowsmith and GNR
Belly was alright, but clearly not on the same level as those other 2.
Or one of the best bands ever?
That second band with the Blondie is really weak jkkkkkkk

Haha! It went over better live than on TV that's all I can tell you
