This EP was the perfect blend of AvA, +44 and everything Travis does. I was so bummed out when I heard Tom had about 12 songs he wanted to bring to blink before they kicked him out in 2015.
this is the direction Tom wanted to bring Blink 182 in before they took a hiatus. If not for that, Angels and Airwaves would've never been formed and all of you wouldnt be bitching that is sounds like Angels and Airwaves. get over it, really.
Know this comment is 5 years old but fuck it, if you know anything about music then you'd know this is nothing like A&A Way different. A good way to look at it is when Tom released his self titled album a few years ago, that was "blink". He probably did it because he had more punky pop rock in him. A&A is so dramatically different to Blink, and this album is like pre solo Tom album (which ironically it was claimed they were the start of the next B182 album after Neighborhood and he "stole" them, even though he part wrote them. Don't care about the ethics, just glad I got to hear it at all) Long story short, go learn an instrument then you'll know what I'm talking about
@@-Gax- well yeah AvA sounds different because it’s different members in the band writing the songs, which changes the dynamic. I agree with OP. Look at Blink pre Skiba era, during the Skiba era, and now post Skiba era. Tom’s influence is certainly felt with Blink where it was absent before during the Skiba era. They once again have that signature sound you can’t quite put your finger on, much less replicate. One member changes the dynamic of the sound of a band with the music they create. OP didn’t state Tom wanted Blink to be AvA, just said Tom wanted them to go in that direction while Mark and Travis did not. I believe this is documented as well? Could be wrong. But I believe had they gone in that direction it would have been more grounded due to Mark and Travis’s influence to the sound of the band. This was a thing Tom wanted to experiment with i.e. Asthenia and Not Now
Dogs Eating Dogs is so much better than people give it credit for. Sure it's not the same as Enema or Dude Ranch but those albums still exist, there's just new stuff available if you want it. And I do.
This band is freaking awesome. My brother showed me my first Blink song. All the Small Things. I'm like " Holy crap! This is awesome!" I'm getting so many songs now.
Usually I'm not a fan of when Tom brings that heavy AVA sound to blink, but I dunno man. For this song it's just really good. This is actually one of my most favorite blink songs.
They recorded this EP in the studio together. You can feel even in this short EP how much more gelled and complete the sound is. What a shame we never got a full length record of this style blink
I think I’m alone on this but I love the mix of AVA and Blink. AVA alone is a little bit too spacey for me. And blink is a little bit to poppy. The mix works so well, specifically on this song. And even songs like Not Now or Snake Charmer. Clearly songs that are heavily Tom influenced but still have the blink feel.
Different ending here. I still like it. I love how this sound grew up with me. The pop punk from when I was younger all the way up to this EP. Everytime a new album came out it had more growth that fit in with my growth. It's nice to see my daughter gets to grow up with their new stuff. It makes me smile.
Tom said himself that he rarely still listens to punk, usually only before a concert to get hyped. He said that punk isn't art, it's expression, that's why it's perfect for teenagers
Pretty little girl, dogs eating dogs and when I was young are great songs, and this new album is good, it's nice to see blink are still capable of making great music even though its much different to their older stuff, keep it up :)
After 2:45 its all F*cked up. I have this EP and trust me, Disaster is one of the best songs Blink has released in a while. This upload is crap. Anyway, great song.
Im 20, have been listening to Blink ever since dude ranch when I was 5. I was constantly exposed to music in my childhood but Blink was the first band I liked even loved before I developed a real appreciation for music. I felt that listening to it the majority of my life and going through puberty and shit did make the connection stronger because even when I started paying attention to lyrics the music still made sense to me in an unfathomable way. But being more attached means nothing listen is
They matured so much since they first started out as a band, they are my band I love till the day I die, its sad Scott had to leave the band to do his studies for school, overall they are amazing and been through a lot
the best time of blink 182 is around 2000-2004 i was a little kid back then but one of my neighbor always plays the song like sum 41,blink182,greenday and he look like cone from sum 41 if you could just list other band from blink 182... you truly have a good common sense
This EP felt like a fixed Neighborhoods. The direction was pretty awesome and honestly, kinda sucks we just got the few songs, but this EP was seriously really good. It's a shame, though current Blink has its bright spots too.
I'm 14 and I absolutely love Blink 182. Just because they became famous before I was born doesn't mean I can't still appreciate the music. The Beatles were famous before I was born, along with The Ramones, Queen, Pink Floyd and many others. Am I not allowed to like them either? Don't classify an entire age into one group.
Fall comes a loaded gun Black ties for everyone Can you read my mind Fall in my arms again Grey stones that break apart French braids demonic art The dead come alive Fall in my arms again (again) I'm scared of the dark my friends What do you fear, my love? Hold on you're breaking up Disaster, disaster Disaster, disaster White stones of hollow eyes Death comes you better hide Never rest in town Fall in my arms again Full moon on a rotten night Eighteen and a wind came by Not a soul around Fall in my arms again (again) I'm scared of the dark my friends What do you fear, my love? Your soul it will float like a dove Your words they won't scream loud enough But your lips they will stutter and quaver You can't shake the taste of the blood Hold on you're breaking up (breaking up) I'm scared of the dark my friends What do you fear, my love? Your soul it will float like a dove Your words they won't scream loud enough But your lips they will stutter and quaver You can't shake the taste of the blood Hold on you're breaking up (breaking up)
I think that everyone should respect how they have been composing THEIR music, cos it really is THEIR music. If they make a slow, calming song, they made a fucking slow, calming song. If you want to listen to a fast upbeat song, go to another band that makes that.
I wouldn't say there's enough of a correlation between age and maturity for anyone to assume about the emotional depth of others based on how old they are. And even if a younger generation doesn't "understand" as much, who's to say it's a bad thing that they're interested in great music?
Blink was perfect then, and they still are. One of the few bands that can change their sound and still sound amazing, I'm 14 and have more common sense than most of you.
it feels like a fixed Neighborhoods. Like, the idea that was neighborhoods except it was much more fully recognized, but it took less than half the amount of songs to accomplish that. It truly breaks my heart to have the OG lineup halt work at the end of *this* 6 song album. I do rather enjoy the new lineup, but man yeah this was a strong direction from neighborhoods. Shame it stopped here.
I'm 15 and iv'e been listening to Blink ever since i can remember, mostly beacuse my brother ad sister were born in 90' and 93' thats how i got introduced. I guess it could be similar to her
i think this song is about zombies.. "black ties for everyone" -funeral. "gray stones that break apart" -gravestones "white stone of hollow eyes" and "the dead come alive"- zombies!
When people hear blink do spacey stuff they always mention angels and airwaves.. Ava sounds like blink, blink is the first to do some spacey stuff in their last few tracks in the self titled album, just like the track 'not now' and some few tracks.. Thank god blink182 for some real music
some people need to understanhd something. AVA is around for almost 8 years. you can't ask any other thing from tom, cause ava is tom. same goes with mark...just enjoy the 2 singing together!
I had a dream the other night, I was gliding on water being pulled by a target shopping cart and this song was playing. Did it make sense? No. Was it super bad ass and fun? Yes.
I get why older fans would react, not like me who is 18, but people who have been long time fans, maybe since Enema of the Sate. They grow a certain emotional attachment to those songs, you are like and is just responding to it, but you haven't really devolved a memory to it. So for you, the older stuff have no sentimental value and you judge all their music by the same merit. When they hear the new stuff, they might enjoy it, but it will never be the same.
Perfect blend of AvA and blink
Blink was headed on a great path before they ended up being what they are now. This EP is so dope.
This EP was the perfect blend of AvA, +44 and everything Travis does. I was so bummed out when I heard Tom had about 12 songs he wanted to bring to blink before they kicked him out in 2015.
@@DV-zv4ox pretty sure most, if not all, of those songs he released under his solo album
Tom would have pushed the style more towards progressive, it could be cool.
We will hopefully get the new album to sound like this
@@Britpopsoul I really hope so too. Edging is good but really not what I wanted to hear from these guys after all this time..
This is one of blinks best tunes, it has different parts of everything they’ve ever done as artists and comes together nicely to make a hooky tune.
😊😊😊
Exactly
1:33 - 1:43 those 10 seconds never get old.
JCM that's true
I liked your comment so that you would receive a notification and listen to this masterpiece again.
Listening to these songs again makes me miss tom.. :(. And wow that these songs are almost 4 years old, time flies
This is such an underrated blink tune. Has everything. Sick drums, sick breakdown, sick chrous.
Still listen to this song in 2022 after tom back.
IDC bro if AVA or Blink 182 they all best
this is the direction Tom wanted to bring Blink 182 in before they took a hiatus. If not for that, Angels and Airwaves would've never been formed and all of you wouldnt be bitching that is sounds like Angels and Airwaves. get over it, really.
Pointing out the fact that no one cares as long as the music is good
Know this comment is 5 years old but fuck it, if you know anything about music then you'd know this is nothing like A&A
Way different.

This is a ripened, mature blink-182. So bummed that we never got a full length of tracks like this!

AND NOW IS A REALITY
Tom said himself that he rarely still listens to punk, usually only before a concert to get hyped. He said that punk isn't art, it's expression, that's why it's perfect for teenagers
Man, blink was evolving with every new album they put out. I’m so amped to hear this new album and to have Tom back where he belongs 🤘🏻

Anyway, great song.
A whole album in this style is what I need. Hopefully the new Blink 182 album will have elements of this sound.
New Blink 182 album ended up being a letdown tbh. Was hoping it would sound like this.
i love how people truly appreciate this album on every song someone has said best song on EP.
Life is nothing without Blink 182
This has a sort of anthem part 2 and down feel to it. I love it.
Tom, the best
Love this EP

This is the quality of content you write when you know what your legacy is worth to people....
It's ΛVΛ + Mark. Hopefully more of this on the new album...
When that riff comes in during the intro it feels fucking amazing, also Mark's first vocal is thunderous. This EP kicks ass.
They matured so much since they first started out as a band, they are my band I love till the day I die, its sad Scott had to leave the band to do his studies for school, overall they are amazing and been through a lot
so nice to keep getting new blink regularly
JESUS.....the intro guitar riff makes my heart want to explode out of my chest and fly up to the sky.
Disaster is the most underrated song off the EP.
I love how you can't bob your heady at a steady rhythm 'til the song ends.
+Ayana J I was doing it and i came across your comment
lol

these may be the MOST poetic lyrics Tom has ever written.... amazing
amazing song. amaaaazing ep! blink life. for life.
Blink 182 will be my favorite band for the rest of my life
This EP felt like a fixed Neighborhoods. The direction was pretty awesome and honestly, kinda sucks we just got the few songs, but this EP was seriously really good. It's a shame, though current Blink has its bright spots too.
I think if we replaced the worst tracks off Neighbourhoods with the best on this EP than we’d have a classic album.
Sends a shiver down my spine every time..
Pretty sure Tom had more lyrics and chords to this and released it as shove with AvA
Best of blink and AVA coming together...just quality
Love the part from the intro to the first verse
Haha, all of Blink's stuff since the reunion sounds like Blink, +44, and AvA.
this Song is Amazing!!!!
Blink will live on🤘🏽as it always has
Fav song on Christmas woo
I think Blink's self titled album was their golden age.

I can't help but sing "Safety Dance" when I hear the intro x)
Fall comes a loaded gun
Black ties for everyone
Can you read my mind
Fall in my arms again
Grey stones that break apart
French braids demonic art
The dead come alive
Fall in my arms again (again)
I'm scared of the dark my friends
What do you fear, my love?
Hold on you're breaking up
Disaster, disaster
Disaster, disaster
White stones of hollow eyes
Death comes you better hide
Never rest in town
Fall in my arms again
Full moon on a rotten night
Eighteen and a wind came by
Not a soul around
Fall in my arms again (again)
I'm scared of the dark my friends
What do you fear, my love?
Your soul it will float like a dove
Your words they won't scream loud enough
But your lips they will stutter and quaver
You can't shake the taste of the blood
Hold on you're breaking up (breaking up)
I'm scared of the dark my friends
What do you fear, my love?
Your soul it will float like a dove
Your words they won't scream loud enough
But your lips they will stutter and quaver

such a strong new wave vibe in this song.
