    Important to note before people spread misinformation, the sea foam you see in the video IS NOT pollution. It’s harmless and naturally occurring - it’s actually an indication of a productive ocean ecosystem.

    Fun fact: Jim Cuddy & sons are playing Area 506 at the end of the month. Back in the 80’s-90’s Jim and his wife had a summer home over on the river in Millidgeville near Rockwood park. His wife was from Saint John. 😁

    Much better than I thought as originally I was looking at Moncton as a place to move to. The average price for a house around my neighborhood is above 1.5 million. As a single person I pay about $2000 a month for a one bedroom apartment. My work in architectural manufacturing has been portable these past five years. What is the average cost of a two bedroom apartment in the central core of your city please? Love those buildings. Do not demolish them for glass and steel like Toronto did in the 60's and 70's of the previous century. Be like NYC and keep them as much as possible please.

      My in-laws have a 2 bedroom apartment in a newly built building uptown. They pay $1,650. $2,000 is a very healthy budget so you should be able to get something nice. Google Historica Properties to get an idea what apartments look like it historic buildings renovated.

    • @WeLoveSaintJohn
      @WeLoveSaintJohn  Год назад +1

      Supposedly the average rent for a 2 bedroom apartment is $1300 but you can pay up to $2300 for a higher end apartment. Just like the price of homes, rents have risen significantly over the last few years.

      Prices have risen dramatically as people have begun to appreciate all this area has to offer. However, Saint John remains one of the most affordable cities in Canada.

      As realtors you would know the answer to this question - what is the median house price of what sold in the last few years? I would guess a lot of the people moving east from say Ontario are looking for house prices in the 200 to 300 range as there used to be a fair number of nice houses in that range or the fixer uppers for even less. There tends to be fewer jobs and a little lower wages in NB so if you are looking to enjoy a cost savings from moving from say Ontario then the cost advantage has to be significant.

    • @travelport7868
      @travelport7868 11 месяцев назад

      @@stevebrien1041I disagree on fewer jobs assertion. JDI alone is trying to fill 5,000 positions and almost all employers cannot find employees. The Saint John area alone has 3,500 unfilled positions and these are not low paying jobs, rather high skilled high paying jobs in engineering and IT just to name two.

    • @WeLoveSaintJohn
      @WeLoveSaintJohn  11 месяцев назад +1

      @@stevebrien1041 The median house price is always changing, as mentioned in the video, whether it be average or median price, the price here has been steadily increasing. Our wages may be slightly lower but I disagree that there are fewer jobs here, at least on a per capita basis. If you are moving from almost anywhere in Southern Ontario, the cost advantage in moving to Saint John is indisputably significant. The video mentions average home prices in Canada, but the average prices in Southern Ontario are much higher than that.

    I'm still looking to visit my hometown there and it's very depressing to see something like the hold area being at a construction even the volleyball sand pit take a note and the concrete where the patios are for the pubs and restaurants that should not have been taking away the rest I don't mind but still you need something for summertime I should have not have been taken the whole volleyball area and the buskers Circle and the walkway and even the stage it was entertainment for all of yours sitting at the patios and I was on that stage when they first built it it's really depressing what they're doing and by the looks of it I know they're putting a lot of money into it but still it's not the right area and they don't have a Coast Guard base and they really need one. I know things are updating but this is just depressing to look at but seriously they should not have taken away anything off the boardwalk in front of the patios and the stage and the volleyball sand pit and the circle across from the entrance of Market Square right out the Street. I'm still looking to visit and it's going to make me. Freaking sad just to look at this Construction

    so,.....50% up while avg. in Canada the same. Obviously a giant buble which should soon burst with a big bang😢

    • @travelport7868
      @travelport7868 Год назад +2

      Couple thoughts - home prices were WAY BELOW average here for decades - most homes were $85k to $150k when the Canadian average was over $500k so we just played catch up. So half of that 50% is just catch up. Secondly, hard to envision a bubble when you have 30+ bids on homes here. There are countless people now looking not only for homes, but for apartments and rooms. The vacancy rate is so low that many folks that want to move here cannot because they literally have no place to stay. Lastly, I’ve been reading of “bubble bursts” since I started following business news in 1996 and there hasn’t been one yet. Pretty hard to imagine with 500,000 + newcomers coming to Canada every year to shore up our labour force. Slight relief is on the way with hundreds of new apartments coming online shortly.
