MaGMML3 - The Invincible Robot Army! Featuring Shoe Man! 0 Jumps

  • A surprisingly hard stage for this challenge. The gimmick of this stage is that every enemy is invincible to everything except for some interactions with Break Dash and Tornado Blow. There might be some other stuff, but the point is that you'll have to avoid the enemies instead of fighting them most of the time. The problem is that when you can't jump over them, you have to settle for damage boosting through them. As a result, you'll be eating a lot of damage in this run.
    The Power Muscler minibosses are especially hard because it really easy to fall onto the damage spikes and end up eating a lot of damage over the course of a fight you can't speed up. The way you want to do them is to buster them down for your free first cycle. For the first Power Muscler, you then want to instantly switch to Break Dash and use it to knock it down. Repeat again to kill the Power Muscler. You have to swap fast though because the window for you to knock it over before it starts its next attack is pretty short. For the second Power Muscler, it starts its attack immediately after it gets up so you need to hit it after it lowers itself. Don't try to hit it with a Break Dash as it lands on you. Its hitbox is awful small for that to work. Just move out of the way and then hit it with the Break Dash. Repeat again for the kill.
    Shoe Man himself is embarrassingly easy. Just Break Dash right when he lands on you. Very easy fight and unfortunately not much you can do to speed him up. Maybe I should be thankful?
    The first and third Token are pretty easy to get. But the second Token is the hard part. If you try to get through that Dachone chase with just the regular way I do it in the normal run, the Dachone will catch up before you could get to the Token. So I have to resort to Electro Cable Scooching (spamming diagonal Electro Cables on a wall or ceiling to move along it) on the ceiling. It's faster to get through areas, but as it uses up a lot of Electro Cable ammo, I want to avoid it when possible. Maybe it should be used in more spots though.... In any case, shifting along the ceiling gets you in time to grab the Token before the Dachone can block it.
    This is the first 0 jumps run on this leaderboard. You can speed it up with less weapon fumbling. I did a lot of that in this run. In the room with the double Bikkys, I actually messed up the strat. My plan isn't to damage boost through them. It's to latch onto the one tile wide column, then from there, latch onto the ceiling, and then Electro Cable Scooch over to the exit. I also hesitated for a stupid long time in that room with the Bikky and the Mega Buster Blocks. For some reason, that room just makes me lose all thought upon entering it. It happens every run for some reason. I guess I just expected there to be some way to skip it. (Well, there WAS a way with the Pachy costume, but that was patched out.)
