    well done ,, i love seeing big Cats on the dyno ,,personally i don't have any CAT power ,,my pulling truck is a very old Pete 359
    powered by a very unusual 12V92 TA ( unusual for a truck ) ,not the most fuel efficient vehicle there is ,, but when i start climbing a long steep grade and i start passing people it's a sight to see ,cause i don't slow down on hills ,,my horsepower and torque figures are really close to this 6NZ CAT ,,it's also turned up just a bit , i'm at 820 wheel HP and 2580 torque ,, at 1300 rpm
    i've got a huge weight penalty too because that huge 18 liter engine weighs 4200 pounds without intercoolers

Pittsburgh box on level 1. PDI exhaust and turbo. Turbo cracked. Head cracked. Machine shop said too much fuel. The other truck, a c15 accert, constant issues. PDI cam, platinum cat rebuild, pDI computer and Pittsburgh computer. Blew head gasket or worse. Just now realized factory 18.1 piston may be issue. Needs 16.1. Gonna go back to all stock on all trucks. Gonna rerate both to cat 625hp tune. Possibly switchblade turbos. Mega money game. Yikes

    Those engines are really amazing, & I build race engines! You could make a BBC make 3000ftlb, & 3600hp with out much problem! Except you will never actually pull the extreme weights those trucks do! Never mind you could never keep all that torque for so long! It’s really crazy people try to pull 20 ton with a pickup 🛻 today 🙄🙄🙄🙄! Most have no idea how big the cranks, rods, pistons, transmission & gears ⚙️ & cooling systems are on those trucks! Never mind the chassis & brakes! They are made to pull mountains ⛰ @ WOT for long periods of time! A pickup might have similar horsepower compared to low power tractors, but they don’t have the huge torque & parts! Also I love that you could make that big power, without blacking out the sky 🙄🙄🙄🙄!

      David Drescher it’s a refrigeration part to fill up units with refrigerant. You can pick one up at any refrigeration store and add the adapter at the ends to suit you’re purpose. You can only put it before the high pressure pump. They don’t make any to withstand 3k-50k pounds. I think they only go up to 400psi.

      There's no place to in these cat fuel systems that's over 100 psi besides INSIDE the unit injector, the injectors is the "high pressure pump". The pump on the front of the engine is just to suck fuel out of the tanks and pressurized it to 80-100 psi in the fuel rail to the head.

      My 700hp 6nz made 9 empty and 5.5 at 120k heavy hauling. Our stock trucks couldn't come close to that. It's all in how fast can you get it up to speed and easily maintain it. The amount of time I spent at wot was always way less just simply because I had the hp.

      Cruising down the interstate at a set speed, you're not using full output at either the 550 HP this engine came with or the 1000 it's making now. The better flowing components that allow you to make 1000 HP increase the efficiency at partial loads too

    • @yeahok115sure

  • @trueamerican7034

    I would think any air in the fuel line would be unacceptable. Maybe a little on low fuel because of that sudsy diesel fuel otherwise a fitting or gasket isn't sealing allowing air to be drawn in. Possibly pickup screen blocked with debris in tank causing higher vacuum which would cause normally sealed fittings and seals to allow air in. That's why I prefer AN fittings over pipe fittings, although pipe fittings are somewhat self locking if tighten well.

      swampratt36 the issue with air in the fuel ended up being the primary air filter housing was cracked and the customer opted to take the truck as is and was going to address the air in fuel system himself, as far as getting more fuel pressure and/or volume he had his own plans to improve it, it had stock fuel lines and fuel pump and it seemed those marine injectors demand more fuel volume/pressure than what a stock 6nz comes with

    I have been driving a 2006 Peterbilt with a C 15 it has twin turbos. Me and the boss ain't seeing eye to eye I think we can get more horsepower out of single turbo but he doesn't think so. What do you think?

      Faster spool on twins and if compound way more boost but it would take a big single for more power i suggest compound i run a compound c16 at 880 fly and it hits hard and quick

    • @pittsburghpowerinc.5948
      @pittsburghpowerinc.5948  5 лет назад

      the issue with air in the fuel ended up being the primary air filter housing was cracked and the customer opted to take the truck as is and was going to address the air in fuel system himself, as far as getting more fuel pressure and/or volume he had his own plans to improve it, it had stock fuel lines and fuel pump and it seemed those marine injectors demand more fuel volume/pressure than what a stock 6nz comes with

    Okay can someone please explain how a dyno session on a semi works? It seems when he "starts" the run the engine speed is roughly 2k but drops as the hp/tq numbers are going up? Is it using the rolling resistance of the roller itself to calculate total force or am I totally off? Brain no werk.

      You can make 750hp easily from a bxs acert, its basically a 6nz once u remove the IVA (intake valve actuator) system which is bolted on to the rockers, delete the IVA’s, low compression 16:1 pistons, stage 1 head (you can get them ported and fire ringed) cat c15 arp head studs, anti friction coated rod and main bearings, also get your piston heads coated while youre at it, big single turbo or keep your compounds, fass or air dog lift pump (i dont remember the size of GPH needed but just contact air dog or fass and they should guide you to the right direction, and finally 800hp marine cam and the biggest injectors possible i don’t remember their full part number or size but the cat guys call them “89” injectors lol hopefully with some asking around they can give u the part number for those, but with all that you can safely and reliably push 750-900whp
      If you want 1000-1500hp than dual lift pumps, stage 3+ custom head, upgraded cat fuel pump, custom injectors, dual bigger upgraded turbos, arp studs on everything possible main caps rod caps head studs, steedspeed one piece manifold and upgraded valve springs, retainers and all that not so fun stuff, most guys run c18 liners pistons and rods to push that power but idk if its necessary (it probably is)

    • @e4die_on_ig
      @e4die_on_ig 2 года назад +1

      0955 injectors are the onces i meant not “89” and actually you can use stock 57 or 58 injectors to push 750hp

      And they didn't entirely solve the fuel pressure drop either, aside from the air in the line from the gauge they were using, pressure going into the head was low at high rpm and the way the fuel pressure regulator is set up, technically you should see less tha n 5 psi drop going into and returning from the head. Should have gotten new orings on the injectors and a new valve in the regulator with the updated spring.
