There's 1.1 million marines and,no, you're wrong. You SHOULD think abotu fiction because PROPER fiction works this all out and stays coherent. Battletech up to the Dark Age for instance, you could actually track units accurately on the galaxy map, shipping lanes, etc it all made sense. It all worked. Even Comguard storing a ton of cached equipment ofr Tukayyid made SENSE. 40k's lore is garbage because people don't stop to think "Does X thing make sense int he grand context, or no?" It's why I think Orks are a garbage faction and actually hurt the lore of the entire universe. It can never actually knuckle down and fix the issues with the lore and make things make sense... because the Orks exist. YOu can bring more andm ore lore to the Marines, make them make more sense. You can make the Tyranids make a lot of sense too! You can limit or boost the numbers of Chaos marines or traitors... no problem. BUt the orks are complete pure garbage because they still act like it's the Rogue Trader days in sheer stupidly written fiction and poorly thought-out lore. 40k will never improve so long as people just shrug everything for rule of cool. Like there are other sci-fi universes that ACTUALLY have good writing. 40k has... literally not a single good book in the entire line. As a writer they are EMBARASSING to read. Which is sad because a lot of writers have tried to make things better lore wise... Necrons, Salamanders, the new Soritas etc. But all of that is just so garbage when you pull it together because of stupid crap like the Orks.
10:00 The point is that the 30K Aeronautica models are also used for the new epic game. So there will be a customer base for those models. I would also prefer 40K, since I would love to buy new models for my Epic armies (even though the scale creep is an issue). But original Epic also started with 30K and switched to 40K so maybe we get lucky again.
@@FunkBastid Eternals are hard to create, only specific souls get chosen for the eternals, and reviving them also takes time and effort. There is most definitely a numerical restriction in place because of that.

So they sadly come to terms that the battle they were so worried about has been long gone and everyone who needed them is more than likely dead. I wish I could remember where It was from, Sorry guys
According to the Core Rules on page 11 it states the following: Outside of the CP players gain at the start of the Command phase, each player can only gain a total of 1CP per battle round, regardless of the source. The only rule that seems to supersede this is the Votann’s Army Rule which says: If, at the start of any of your Command phases, that enemy unit is destroyed, you gain a number of CP depending on how early in the battle you destroyed it, as shown below (you can only gain CP in this way once per battle, and CP gained in this way are an exemption to the Core Rules that limit the maximum number of CP you can gain per battle round to 1). So it seems unless specifically stated you are stuck with generating 1 per battle round, taking more things that generate them just increases the odds of you getting the cp.
You couldn't hook him up with Grimaldus because the Apothecary is one Captain, Chapter Master, or Lieutenant - and Grimmy wouldn't fit. And technically until they fix Helbrecht's sheet he isn't a Chapter Master or Captain yet so we can't hook up our dudes there yet. But hopefully when they fix it they will let us hook them up. The model looks greats tho!
GW have said it is MAX 1 extra CP per round. so the 1 CP you gain in each players turn then 1 more per Round. BUT there are multiple things that can make Stratagems cost 0 CP :D
Definitely try out A Song of Ice and Fire, the miniatures game!! Super underrated, and amazing models! Regardless, we really need to see you paint up a mammoth though! 😁
3:38 Because someone has to be the militia/reserves defending the cities and picking up the Stormcast when they do good down or to be their in numbers or to help defend their homes... Like in Starwars/40k or real life you need your normal dudes to back up the Army and the Marines.
Flyers are a good example of Sales department want new forms of sale more models, but R&D didn't know what to do with their rules, they changed like 5-6 times in the last three editions

The Command Point Rule lets you get an extra command point per battle round. The Votann rules specifically says you get to break this rule when you kill that unit.
I would love you to have a video series about you prepping for local tourney and Shawn training you and you looking for that *best painted and *best sportsman award. Could be fun!
Love AI. It really is a great game, but had the horrible luck of launching a few month before the COVID pandemic. And yea, love the 40k ships. The good thing is the factions that are out are in a pretty good spot. You should absolutely buy in and bring some ships to Adepticon next year. I really feel like this hits that early X-wing 1.0 feel where positioning matters more than upgrades.
I really like 30k units and the cool gear and vehicles Space Marines had. I am a huge fan 30K’s story. However, I’m also super excited for more fans to release rules for the great crusade. I want to fight with Orks using my 10-man flamer squad, or smash Eldar wraithlords with my Firedrakes terminators. The great crusade, using fan-rules, will hopefully be a good time. If you ever make a word bears 30k army, it could be neat to fight the blue Orks.
I think the use of pavises and hand cannons are a good step forward for ground forces in Age of Sigmar. Fantasy and AoS never really struck me as a medieval fantasy, but more a fantasy set in the period during the War of the Roses. The pavises do look very fitting for Age of Sigmar due to how hole-y and impractical they would be in the real world.
Don't you count WotR as medieval? I see that period often described as 'high middle ages', especially in miniatures. Sometimes even gothic or renaissance. But old-style fantasy Warhammer is usually compared to Napoleonics (just with the fantasy element, as you point out). Games Workshop used to do some work in the historicals, and the Napoleonics was just Warhammer Fantasy with the fantasy element taken out.
I like the canoneer models. Defiantly a cluttered model. I’d probably scrape the crest off the shield and give it a hand painted crusader look trying to draw more attention to the filigree and weapon.
I'd LOVE to use these guys without their goofy shields to make something inspired by Lady Eboshi's crew from Princess Mononoke. They'd work great for a feudal guard vs my Studio Ghibli Orks.
I think its easier to wrap my head around the different versions of elite soldiers in 40k because its set in the Galaxy which is so huge. Things seem a bit when set on a single world or single kingdom
If a rule gives you extra command points at the start of your command phase, then you can gain more, but outside of gaining them in the command phase, it's only 1CP. Example Imperial knights when they get honoured, gain 3CP at the start of the next command phase in order to get past the Only 1CP outside of command phase rule
6:10 so games workshop looks to have painted up another 3d printed model, you can notice where the layer lines are on the coat and the shoulder, which you probably wouldn't see those kind of lines on an injection moulded mini.
17:55 Given how important those guys are to the function of the chapter... yeah it makes sense they are easy to spot for your guys benefit not the enemies.
10:17 When I saw the spring break episode of South Park and Stan asked if he could ask Tolken to play 40k all week, I knew WH was about to hiy the mainstream
15:08 AFAIK the only exceptions to the CP limit are the Imp.Knights Army Rule (very implicit exception, considering if it wasn't it wouldn't ever work, but GW are the worst company ever to write anything so yeah) and Votan Detachment Rule (actually explicit, written as an exception). All else has the same limit, if for example you get rid of a secondary you already hit the limit and nothing else counts. Units that give CP are just there for consistency, as a guarantee of double generating CP, while armies without them have to rely on discarding secondaries and looking for free CP stratagem rules (Data-Tethers on Skitarii, free Heroic Intervention on Moirax, etc)
@@tiberiumnp8030 yup no stacking whatsoever. Only 1 automatic CP per turn + 1 generated CP from any source, no matter how conventional or unconventional. Including random stuff like "Supply Lines" from the Mission rule deck, where on every one of your command phases you roll and on a 4+ you gain 1CP - that'll hit the limit right at the start of your turn, no fancy character or rotating secondary missions will add anything on top of it. The only exceptions to that are abilities/rules that add multiple CP's at once, which if they weren't couldn't ever work, so they're exceptions even if GW forgot to write that.
Hand-cannoneers are cool. So are Pavise shield walls, but having the shields on each mini is too much. If they had the shields on separate bases and treated them like mobile cover or like a Tau shield drone it would be better.
That doesn't make any sense. Just because space maries exist. That doesn't mean the guard is useless. Same thing with the stomcast and the cities of sigmar.
It's sad that AI got rid of the Xenos races. It's even sadder that they anounced the rotating out of the models AFTER many of the small Eldar models had already gone the way of the Dodo on the FW web store. 😞
the pavise shielded gunner would probably look much better on a slightly bigger base (mitigating the slightly cluttered look they have on those tiny 25mm bases (that is me assuming size they might be 28mm) but putting them on 32mm or even 40mm bases would look much better me thinks.
40k has a bigger fan base, but I feel like it's.... Arcade mode to the HH story mode. The player base for 30k seems to be far more likely to be the type to pour over force org charts.

I'm with you on Epic! As an Epic player from the 1980s, my favourite armies are Eldar, Orks and Chaos. I have huge collections of all of these armies and I was looking forward to possibly dusting them off and adding to them. However, I just don't buy into 30k anything so I won't be playing the new Epic game 😢
From what I understand, you can get 1 extra CP and no more than that. Like, you can have more than one situation where you'd win a CP but if it happens more than once, you only get one. Like if your two apothecary got a squad killed, you'd only get 1 CP. That's a way that GW probably got to balance a bit. Guardsman are very squishy so they have more opportunities to get CPs, space marines are stronger so they have harder ways to get CPs. Like in video games, you can get 1 special ability but you dont get 2 special abilities if you just wait to stack them up. It's a way to make the game a bit more balanced and not farm special abilities all game to win in the last round
I think games workshop is an example of what happens when fans run a business. They love space marines and refuse to believe they aren't everyone else's favorite
I'm tired of Space Marines. I like some of the chapters just fine, and I obviously don't want them to disappear, but I will never buy a Space Marine model ever again. That goes for Horus Heresy, too. I'm way more interested in the space elves and the plucky humans (Guard and Sisters).
Games workshop is a business like any other. Marines sell more than entire ranges, thats why more keep getting made. Dont have to be a "fan" of something for that logic to take place.
@@ONIMOT100the problem with that is that space marines sell more them entire ranges because all ranges combined get less support then space marines, imagine it you went to your boss and said this army makes up even let's go wild and pretend that space marines are 50 percent of sales, and so we should put upwards to 80% of the budget towards them
Good thing I got all the Aeronautica planes that I need (or so I think). Mostly still Orks though. I figured they’d do this, so I sated my FOMO long ago.
Jay, I get what you mean when you say we know everything about the heresy. But I want to see you start that word bearers army so let me say something: We know a lot about the MAIN conflict, but the heresy was so massive there are thousands of battles that happened that we know nothing about- and that’s what makes 30k a lot like 40k- you can let your imagination run wild in creating armies and battles because we don’t know everything, the archives are incomplete.
I'm a big fan of Aeronautica Imperialis, but the rules weren't great. They were a rewrite of the rules from the first edition (released by FW many years ago) which had decent rules that could have done with some refinement, but most of the changes made for version 2 the game play worse or more unbalanced. If they'd come up with a solid set of rules, I think it would have had a much better chance of success.
word bearers? why not thousands sons. I personally just really like aesthetic of thousand sons because they kind of didn't want to be bad but the were forced to and I think that's a lot cooler than someone who choose to be evil
Aparently the xenos forgot how to fly and now they kinda just drift lazily through space till they make planetfall.I can picture it now,a bunch of eldar Just drifting in the void like a bug stuck in your pool.
No such as a dead game. You definitely do not need to use Warhammer 40k 10th edition. As long as your opponent wants to you can play any edition you want. Play any game you can have fun with.
I found that the faces of the COS minis look "dumpy". Like I get it, they are supposed to be average peasants for the most part but they just look so weird to me. The imperial guard looks like normal people but the COS rank-and-file looks almost cartoonish and not in a great way.
The great Martian War is a great dead game. It's like epic 40k but it's the second War of the World's. The Martian War Machines are awesome. And the stuff of the Army's of Earth are so steam punk.
Some obscene amount of skulls on that gunner with the Standard, where do they get all the human skulls? Is 40k getting into AoS now? GW just cant help themselves!
if you wanna fix the in universe explanation for losing 50 marines in a single table top game then just imagine most of thee marines are being teleported away to their battle barge once theyve sustained grievous wounds or their armor begins to fail. thats pretty much what I do :)
Ik you need clicks but im kinda miffed about this click bait. Made me think i was losing my 40k flyers. I play Aeronautica and so you gave me a heart attack and then broke my heart… not fun to have that happen

Like in video games, you can get 1 special ability but you dont get 2 special abilities if you just wait to stack them up. It's a way to make the game a bit more balanced and not farm special abilities all game to win in the last round
Think leagues specifically break that rule with the 'gain 3' - like everything - hard limit with the following exceptions... (open the floodgates!)
More like run by greedy lizards...
@@ItsBofu same here. I don't want them gone, I just want attention to the brand to be spread around more.
I figured they’d do this, so I sated my FOMO long ago.
you should do a crossover with vanguard tactics to coach you in a video against Shaun, would be funny. Maybe you help them with terrain or painting.
Not painting the back of the bolter is bad and you should feel bad 😅
the dream is an epic scale war in heaven game
sound like you have a cold jay, hope youre okay!
Every week I hear the same thing. but seriously "Well I do." is not an answer to "How?" How Jay, HOOOOOWWWWW?
I'm a big fan of Aeronautica Imperialis, but the rules weren't great. They were a rewrite of the rules from the first edition (released by FW many years ago) which had decent rules that could have done with some refinement, but most of the changes made for version 2 the game play worse or more unbalanced. If they'd come up with a solid set of rules, I think it would have had a much better chance of success.
Damn... like your takes but couldn't disagree more with your take on CoS and Stormcast.
the index is an interim codex and super cedes previous edition codexes
9th ed codex < 10th core ruebook < index
word bearers? why not thousands sons. I personally just really like aesthetic of thousand sons because they kind of didn't want to be bad but the were forced to and I think that's a lot cooler than someone who choose to be evil
Hand cannons hit harder than stormcast arms
What the hell.... are those supposed to be empire soldiers???
MARINES DON'T SNEAK! except for Phobos....
God bless you my dude
Jay, i keep hearing you say that half the legions are black. Dark angels, Raven Guard, Blackshields. That’s it. 3 out of 19 playable factions
Jay don’t remind me I had like 12 hours in an apothecary I really loved and my dog ate it 💀
NECROMUNDA WOOOO!!!
Aparently the xenos forgot how to fly and now they kinda just drift lazily through space till they make planetfall.I can picture it now,a bunch of eldar Just drifting in the void like a bug stuck in your pool.
love models and memories,
Necromunda! \o/
Good boy Jay 🍻👊
The great Martian War is a great dead game. It's like epic 40k but it's the second War of the World's. The Martian War Machines are awesome. And the stuff of the Army's of Earth are so steam punk.
I'm Not Sure but on the akimbo Empire dudes i think i See printlines in the pistol. The yellowish dudes Not the Red 😂 heresy!!!
Do it song is a good game
I also try and guess how many edibles this guy has had before each recording 😅
Some obscene amount of skulls on that gunner with the Standard, where do they get all the human skulls? Is 40k getting into AoS now? GW just cant help themselves!
I like "a bit of a grumble" for when things aren't quite salty or whiny but still negative like the Cities grumbles
if you wanna fix the in universe explanation for losing 50 marines in a single table top game then just imagine most of thee marines are being teleported away to their battle barge once theyve sustained grievous wounds or their armor begins to fail. thats pretty much what I do :)
. . . Crap. How am I meant to make my Harliquin troop now?
Ik you need clicks but im kinda miffed about this click bait. Made me think i was losing my 40k flyers. I play Aeronautica and so you gave me a heart attack and then broke my heart… not fun to have that happen
Sucks aeronautica is getting axed, the models are cool.
I bet GW sees 30k as the more valuable asset because it was a new area to sell everyone the same minis again.
Who is humanity's last hope?
GW is going way too far on removing models recently
Knights get 3cp when they complete there tyrant oath.
Necroooooomunnnda!
