    You did a good clear job of explaining timing adjustment. I always say hook point to neeldle clearance is no light between them without them touching each other. I think it would be good if next you would have explained adjusting the needle guard. With these tight tolerances, any side needle deflection and good bye hook point.
    Just for added thought, most of these machines are old. Cup screws get worn as well as other parts and normally they have been worked on by many people of different skill levels. If you've owned a machine a long time then you know its condition. If you've recently acquired it, best to go through it. These are tools for doing real work. Don't want any downtime.

    Outstanding! I wish this had been available ten years ago, when I bought my LU563. I haven't used it for a while, and it was not being very cooperative. Thanks to your video, I think she's purrin', again.

    Great video but I was hoping to see something on adjusting the bobbin case opener. My 563 has a tension issue when sewing in reverse. Great stitches forward but in reverse there’s always top thread nests on the bottom regardless of top tension and I think the thread catches on the case opener creating a momentary bottom tension.

    • @bridgewatersewingcentre
      @bridgewatersewingcentre  3 года назад

      Unless there is a burr on the bobbin case opener this should not be an issue. Increase your bobbin case tension. If you cant turn the screw on the left of the spring on the bobbin case base you would have to take the bobbin case base out and take the spring off. Reshape and put back together.

      @@bridgewatersewingcentre thanks! I actually solved it mostly with a new feed dog and needle plate. The under side of the needle plate had some weird wear issues as if maybe the hook had been too high at some point in its life and been rubbing the underside of the plate. I think the thread was catching in this wear causing the issues.

    Question, at the end about the walking foot…I’m wanting to raise the rear foot a little when it’s in the down position. It dents the leather as I feed it through and I think if I can raise that rear foot it’ll resolve that issue. How do I raise that?

    I have the Juki Lu 562 and this video was very informative. Learned I was missing a step in threading the upper tension. I have a question. I’m in an upholstery class and a couple of the class machines are having an issue with the thread coming out of place around the upper tension assembly. Where the thread wraps around from underneath the second tension disc, normally you feel and hear a small click when the thread goes past that little pointy part that bends in toward the middle of the discs. When we pull the thread up against the tension spring, there is no little click and after sewing just a little bit the thread pops out from in between the discs. Any thoughts on what the problem might be? Our instructor is trying to get the machines serviced, but the school isn’t very proactive in having the machines kept in good working condition. Thank you in advance for any help you can offer.

    • @bridgewatersewingcentre
      @bridgewatersewingcentre  3 года назад +1

      If you are taking about the tension assembly you can take and drop the thread down around the pin that holds the plates from spinning. This will keep the thread from coming out of the tension disks. If you are talking about the take up spring disks which is below the tension disks, you can adjust the small screw that keeps them from moving. You can turn it to the left so it will click in easier.

    Great informative video! Thanks for taking the time to make it! I have a Juki LU-562 and it vibrates at higher speeds. Is this normal? The counter balance looks like it is in the correct orientation with respect to the needle. Cheers!

    Hello Neil! This video has been very helpful, but I have an issue on a Juki 563 I recently purchased. When I am trying to adjust the stitch length via the "button/cog" method, it is stuck at 14 on the indicator. I cannot turn the wheel. The only time it will turn is if I engage the safety clutch. Do you think it is seized somewhere? I oiled the bejezzus out of it before I even ran it. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

  • @seb1363
    @seb1363 2 года назад

    Great video, I just recently bought a Consew 226R1 and is similar. Do you know how to adjust the presser feet if they need to be straightened? On my machine it seems like the are slightly angled so the needle is towards the very left side of the inner presser foot hole. I'm not sure how to adjust the outside walking foot to straighten that out!

    • @bridgewatersewingcentre
      @bridgewatersewingcentre  2 года назад +1

      This is somewhat difficult to do. You would have to loosen the lifting block on the pressure bar from behind the machine and also loosen the block guide on the top of the pressure bar and then you should be able to turn the outside pressure foot

    • @bridgewatersewingcentre

    • @bridgewatersewingcentre

      make sure the bobbin tension is not really tight. more on the bobbin then you have to increase the top

    Good vid with nice closeups of components. Is a Juki LS-563 a solid industrial walking foot machine and would u recommend it over a Consew 226 in equal condition?

    Second button is clutch adj. Can u please explain? Does that mean another way to start slow?

    • @bridgewatersewingcentre
      @bridgewatersewingcentre  2 года назад

      Only way to start slow would be with a servo motor. You have two buttons on the bed, left one is stitch length, right one is the adjustment when you jam your machine up it will throughout the clutch

    Hi, Why does my sewing machine come back when I stop sewing? The motors no longer have a brake but this causes the thread on the hook to tie into a knot...

    What is the largest needle and thread size the 563 will take

    • @bridgewatersewingcentre
      @bridgewatersewingcentre  3 года назад +2

      You would max out the thread size at 138, without modifications. Needle size would be about a size 25 without modifications as well.
