There's a tinfoil theory floating around that Gon has been affected by Dark Continent calamity during his transformation. I don't subscribe to it, but if we're collecting all the parallels we can add that.
A pretty good parallel is Ging and Pitou. Ging abandoned Gon and left him with nothing to think about early on and he never learns to think about anything. Whereas Pitou tries her best to help Meruem grow and learn new things. It makes Meruem even smarter and Gon really stupid. It's kinda poetic that Gon kills the thing symbolizing what he was deprived of the most and himself together.
In the 5th Element, the Antagonist and protagonist never actually meet either. They aren't even actively aware of one another. Even so, the arc to revive Gon is probably the best piece of story telling i have ever read.
I don't remember 5th element that well, but nice observation. I have mixed feelings about the last arc, obviously it's great cause it's HxH, yet I didn't really care about the whole election thing. Only about characters we already knew
I didn't really care about Alluka and I don't connect with Killua as a character, so I was bored the entire season, I just liked Ging and other mysterious hunters like the hacker
Gon and Meruem also never personally affected each other's lives, which is why it would make no sense for them to fight. Other than a generic sense of Ant vs. Human, Gon and Meruem have no reason to fight each other. Pitou killed Kite, and Netero harmed Komugi by trying to kill Meruem, which is why they are their opponents. Shonen Protags are usually affected directly by the Antag which is why they need to face each other. Aizen and Shigaraki threatened Ichigo and Deku's friends, Muzan killed Tanjiro's family, and Father is the reason Ed's dad wasn't around to support his family.
Well that's the thing. Togashi could have easily set up Meruem as a final boss, cause Gon saw Ponzu's corpse, who is not a friend but a person he knew, the whole Kite thing and so on. It's kinda like Shiggi and AFO, Deku never really interacted with him either, barely crossed at Kamino, but he became the final boss. Don't get me wrong I totally get what you mean and I just want to give credit to Togashi for not making it "yet another shonen boss battle"
Togashi has always surprised me when its about Storytelling The entire show is always awesome to watch and enjoy. So many parallels its just nuts😂, Hope he gets better though I wanna see more of those banger Storylines he can make. Hey mahis whats your opinion on Hunter x hunter?.
I hope he gets well too, but I've given up on ever seeing Gyro come into play, let alone the end of HxH. I love this show, it's my top favorite of all time.
Idk about in-verse But by story, they didn't want a character to die the way it could by their fight Like Hissoka and Netero or Hissoka and the Ants In simple.... They didn't want to compare them I think
One thing I really hated about the ant arc is that many ants that survived were just forgiven and allowed to live. Even the one we are most supposed to care about Colt even says that if the Queen was still alive he would have continued to do what he did before. Also it killed off Ponzu.
Wasn't the ant that killed Ponzu the same that got crushed by Bonolenov? In general there weren't that many surviving ants at the end of the arc. Kite, Colt, his sister (who might even have been innocent as far as we know), Koala, does Palm count?, Meleoron, Gyro, Ikalgo, Welfin and Bloster.
@@LPVince94 Not sure I think she was killed offscreen. As for the ants I'm very certain none were innocent. They all ate people and brought back people for the hive. And they were all loyal to the queen as far as I remember. The ones who were never in the Queen's army I'd say are more innocent. But we don't really know what they did in that short amount of time like Palm. Whereas Kite being reborn and doing nothing evil is the most clearly innocent.
The one who killed Ponzu was killed by Benelenov. The others... yes and no. Colt, Welfin, Ikalgo, maybe Brovada were redeemed. Reina was never "bad" she was just a working ant. The sealing ant-girl, crock-man and a bunch of others we've only seen once were never touched on. They were just introduced as "magic-beasts", so they went to do whatever Chimera Ants do.
@ The issue with Colt though is that after everything ends he said he would do it again for the Queen. And I wouldn't call him redeemed after so much evil he did just because he sided with against Meruem in the end. He didn't do that for good reasons, the only reason was that he was loyal to the Queen. Just checked, Ponzu isn't killed by Bonelenov. Its by the ant when she is trying to escape and then eaten. Benelenov killed the ant that ate Ponzu. You have to admit Ponzu had a great design, now gone forever due to this arc.
I hate how Meruem was the strongest but we never saw him eat nen users when he was being created. I always thought that was something needed to make his power seem believable.
Just one tasty Pockle is probably not enough, but Meruem remembers eating a nen user before his birth, and we know for a fact that at the time if Pockles and his associate hunter's deaths the queen was only nursing Meruem and no other ants or guards. So Pockle was fully digested by queen and all of those nutrition was given to Meruem.
The other thought that I have: the predisposition to Nen is partly genetical, because there are whole species of magical beasts and because people have the scopes of affinity to Nen that differs wastly but often stays consistently high in family lines even when there's no attempt from parents to teach the children Nen (neither Ging nor Sylva tought Nen to Gon and Killua, and another unconfirmed but likely Nen genius from a line of geniuses is Tserriednich). But this predisposition does not mean by itself that a human will even know that they have Nen potential or learn it. So it's not just probable but certain, that there were plenty unawakened people with right genes for Nen usage eaten by queen of the ants, since she digested at least couple hundred people daily during Meruems incubation. (I have no idea what's up with her nuclear furnace of the appetite, perhaps it's because of her own stolen genes) On the other hand, there is no reason why person's genetics would change after they awaken Nen, and since ants steal DNA, not Nen directly, there should no difference whether queen eats a person when they are unawakened baby or wisened Nen master if that is the same person with the same genes. What is inherited from people is the ability to awaken Nen, not Nen itself. The mechanism that turns all ants into potentially good nen users and the guards into awakened from birth powerhouses is totally busted, but otherwise we wouldn't have such an interesting story and it is neatly explained by chimera ants coming originally from the Dark Continent.
@@ХъюгаНаумова Well, he kinda did. At least Pockl, and then he himself said that sometimes (which implies several times), he'd be fed with something delicious, which means Nen user.
@@mahistv RUclips decided to delete my first comment with that same point. And as far as I remember Pockle was eaten when the only fetus the queen fed was Meruem and maybe Kites reborn body got some.

Gon held himself back For a handful of moments and was actively trying to get the chimera ant to attack him by outpouring killing intent to make it act in self defense. Actively! Actively! Pitching for a fight that had no reason to happen outside of him ignoring the good of the chimera ant to get his fight Only holding himself back out of a warped sense of justice that he was pressing against and eroding as each time the chimera ant spoke to him he got closer to just attacking without being provoked. Gon is not a good person, in fact a straight up awful one, and the inverse parallels will exist and are accurate wether you like them or not
