Just saw RRR in Dolby Cinema here in Washington DC. What am experience. I also saw in IMAX on Thursday but Dolby cinema is different level experience. Picture quality insane and sound is monstrous
In my opinion, the only current superior cinema experience in Hyderabad is the Barcos 4K Laser Projector plus Dolby Atmos setup for Screen 1 at AMB Cinemas . I’ve watched many a films for this Screen 1 experience at AMB and this is the best we have for now. Thanks for bringing this out coz it was something I really wanted people to realise and start looking out for.

My Opinion is Different.Hyderabad City is the Only City Which has the Best Cinema Experience...We have Huge Theatres with The Most Advanced Sound System.
IMAX available in PVR is Just Like any 4K Lazer Experience like in our Devi or Sandhya.The Screen Our Normal Theatres have is Bigger.
Dolby Cinema is Not Yet the Successful Cinema Format.Its been arround since 5 year I think now but had Made not that big impact.

Completely agree with you on this. I feel very sad that in our telugu states there is no atleast one IMAX screen and Dolby Cinema is a far fetched idea. I realised the value of IMAX while watching Doctor Strange part-1 in Luxe chennai. Really a memory for life time. Hope any multiplex chain comes up with atleast one screen in major cities.

Multiplexes should make atleast Dolby Atmos a standard when they are ready to charge 300 rupees + per ticket (atleast 1-2 screens per multiplex).

IMAX in Hyderabad was of Film projection.. and each movie can be 2-3 gaint reels weighing hundreds of kilos.. and it's logistics are very expensive and it was not very viable for them.. so they stopped IMAX Film presentation...
But about 10 years ago.. IMAX LASER presentation came into picture.. which is almost as good as IMAX Film with richer colours and brightness.. and as it is a digital format.. there is no need of those gaint reels.. but can be as small as a hard drives (DIGITAL CINEMA PACKAGE (DCP)).. or through internet.. but it requires very expensive IMAX LASER projectors.. and it was never adopted in Hyderabad IMAX.
Coming to RRR it is mostly shot on ARRI ALEXA LF.. which is IMAX certified.. which means it can present at taller aspect ratio.. it's like movie with no black bars on top and bottom which we can see while we watch regular movies on TV.
Fun Fact : IMAX Film is equivalent of 16K Resolution.

Tollywood's first film natively made for IMAX 3D is RRR. The movie makers like rajamouli should pressurize gaints like prasads to bring the technology. They are simply sitting like ducks reluctant to bring 3 crores worth of equipment and renovation to current theatre.
I find this ironic, A Telugu film shot in IMAX 3D can't be screened the way it was shot in a Telugu state itself. Its a shame which movie makers should realise. They go on advertising and telling people to go watch it in IMAX 3D. Its sad.
Current day digital projections are no match for 15/70 IMAX film projections. Since they are very tedious to arrange , people have compromised for 4k digital projections.

Dolby vision is nothing but a metadata of every frame , its all about color. 12 bit color means 67 billion colors per frame. And peak brightness of 10000 nits. Every frame is controlled and treated with separate algorithm and meta data.
For those who are confused about Dolby cinema.
It is Dolby Vision that improves contrast ratio and picture quality to the next level and Dolby Atmos which is an object-based surround sound that completes the full cinema experience.
In India, we only have Dolby Atmos theaters.
Also, the seats are special. Here in USA AMC theaters, we have reclining seats with a subwoofer(s) in each chair. RRR felt like a different movie in this theater compared to even IMAX.

In 2017 I wrote an email to IMAX corp, Canada about why Prasad is not projecting movies in IMAX tough it had the best screen. They told Prasad's is not interested in leasing the latest digital technology for its screen. Atleast Multiplex like PVR, Inox or Asian should have atleast one IMAX. screen
Its a shame, as tollywood is from this state and WE don't even have 1digital imax screen despite our films are being made in imax 3d. Unless someone like rajamouli brings this up in media, prasads won't care about bringing the technology. They just don't want to spend 3 more crores to buy the projector and renovate imax theatre.

Instead of that we can Tag Multiplex chains like PVR, Inox and Cinepolis to bring the Original IMAX (not liemax) to the City or Prasads should give their IMAX management to brands like Asian or AMB

I watched RRR in Asian Mukta A2 Cinemas, Narapally (Near Pocharam) in Screen 1 which has Barco Laser Projection and Dolby Atmos. The sound (loudness) and display quality is Fantastic, Screen is also quite big. I was shocked with my own experience, The best experience one can get in East Hyderabad. But again Not on Par with Sudarshan. I have been to Devi to watch Pushpa, even though it has Dolby Atmos, the sound was kept very low that i hardly felt anything.

PVR brought two Laser IMAX theatres one in Mumbai and another one in Delhi.
Actually Laser IMAX too will have Dual 4K laser projectors but PVR did cost cutting and brought with Single projection.
Actually nothing comes close to the Aspect ratio in Prasad’s 1.40: something which is very very very much efficient than what we have currently in India so called LIMAX Digital IMAX where the asp ratio is max 1.90:1

Imax laser projector for 18L is not expensive. Infact there will be few common people like businessmen who can purchase it for themselves. The real problem is licensing fees. Prasad's has to pay licensing fees every year to IMAX management. Also they have to pay extra for imax digital copies for movies as they are seperate from normal copies.For this they have to charge 100-150 extra per ticket. I'm ready to pay extra 100-150 but market situation is not good. Most of the people are watching movies on OTT.

@@abhikp5970 yeah buddy, I stay in Bangalore watched movies in alla IMAX theatres PVR, Cinepolis and INOX. But nothing comes to close Prasad’s. Because of aspect ratio. It’s a 70MM IMAX which can show films upto 1.43:1. I went from Vijaywada all the way to Hyderabad to watch Interstellar and Avatar…… Best cinematic experience ever I had…… Prasads is an emotion. 🥰

Hope this is true, annoying one of the biggest cities in India does not have an IMAX, had seen The Batman in Preston Prime definitely capable of handling the IMAX, massive curved screen. Only think that is 1 screen though.

Sudarshan 35 mm rtc x road, Devi 70 mm rtc x road and Sai ram 70 mm have Dolby Atmos and 4k laser, don't go for multiplexes as they charge 400 plus for a ticket. Better go for single screen, even the snacks and food are cheaper inside these theatres. Best theaters they are to experience mass audience

I srsly wish ee get back imax... hyd is only metro city lacking imax screens and projections. The Asia biggest screen avaliable but the no use of it is happening ... I wish and pray this trending happens and reach further to each and every person so that our demand and wish will be fulfilled for better experience theatre.. and imax projections are stopped due to ineffective prices in hyderabad is the reason for the removal of imax.. but these days they are charging 415 for the film which is not a small amount in any case.
Recently, I've heard that Prasad's multiplex is again going to start imax projection from AVATAR- 2 movie ! Should wait for official news !
Feels good to watch on dolby vision + dolby atmos but the max we got in Hyderabad is barco Christie 4k laser projector. When film industry are so keen on increasing ticket prices they must also focus on best technologies . Even AMB screen 1 barco 4k projector was not a great experience for me because of the acoustic treatment (sound proofing) which went wrong they completely focused on interiors nothing great about sound their infact I liked the sound experience in rtc x cross roads theatres which uses the same barco technology + Dolby atmos

@@abhikp5970 Devi theatre has 4K 3D laser projection and dolby atoms for a crazy huge theatre. Watch RRR in that where you can get closer to an IMAX experience due to its huge screen. It still is not imax aspect ratio but its the best we got. AMB screen 1 has good technology but the screen size is laughable. Doesn't even come close to IMAX

it was a regular half baked sound that was playing full speakers for few seconds in songs only. They even cut the AC and turned it in fan mode. The adjacent Sudarshan 70 mm is far far better.

I recommend to watch movies in sri sai ram theater in malkajgiri..give better experience with dolby atmos...in hyderabad. Dolby certified sound produce this theater.better than I max...any one interest once check. In sri sairam theatre in malkajgiri...ticket price also reasonable 150 rs.... U will not disappoint....

You made a good research on theatres technologies. But Traditional DTS theatres can handle more sound bitrate than so called dolby atmos . Dolby atmos sound gets compressed when compared to DTS sound

You are right to an Extent.DTS has a Higher Bit rate that the Dolby Digital System which was recorded on real.
Now All Formats are Made Digital.
Now DTS HD or Dolby True HD are Equally good.
Dolby Atmos is an Object Based sound and Has Multiple Channels Based on Object movements.Similarly DTS X.
As of Now Dolby Atmos is The Market leader due to its Ease of Installation amd existing market record.DTS is not able to make in roads on a Digital Plat form as there is no First Mover advantage or Technical Advantage too.
So the Concept of DTS or Dolby Digital is now old

We can see dolby vision in sony tvs lg oled tvs it is 10x times better than normal 4k print so in theater it would be topnotch with that picture quality

I would like to know how many movies you watch in theatre per month??? If you need Dolby cinema then the cost of ticket will also very high... eg RRR the cost 400rs with out the Dolby cinema. . So just for one movie you are asking for Dolby cinema which is not a correct one..
i watch movies every week in theatre n cmng to dolby cinema n imax every other major city has imax atleast in india n the cost is equal to to any multiplex theatre in hyderabad today as recently movie ticket rates have been increased by the govt in telangana so hyd being the major metropolitan even this city deserves the most advanced technology available out there #hyderabaddeservesbetter and it’s just nt fr one movie i even mentioned upcoming hollywood movies

Bro I will say a thing if we want Dolby cinema in hyd or any where, they can't because..If they want to install them theater also infrastructure also should be support.So I'm saying that the built of the specific theater can't install them,they rebuilt or build a new theater with Dolby cinema supported infrastructure.The seating arrangement also will be so much different in Dolby cinema compared to IMAX or normal theatres
