- San Gimignano, with its distinctive skyline, stands like a medieval mirage on its hilltop. With walls built in the 13th century and 12 surviving towers, what was once a stop for pilgrims en route to Rome is now a popular tourist destination. I've been all over the walls and rooftops of this place.
It's crowded during the day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Before the day trippers come and when the day tourists are gone, it's so charming again, early in the morning and in the evenings again.
I agree! San Gimignano literally transforms during the evenings. I've shared a few scenes taken during the evening in the last video on my channel.
It's a stunning town. I'll definitely recommend it.
I agree! definitely worth a visit!
Beautiful San Gimignano !!!
Wonderful place to visit. Make sure you walk to the top past all those amazing shops. The view is incredible and the frescoes! Oh, what a sight!
Really beautiful!

I've visited san giminiano, in the late '80's and very few tourists visits that place... They produce very good wines.
It is much busier now but I think during winter and spring it would be nice!
Questo posto è bellissimo... senz'altro una città meravigliosa! Evviva la Toscana!
I love this old nice town. I was there 3 times in holyday in last years and this year too again.

Why this american obsession about Italy? Why this will to judge our lifestyle? I dont understand this american people . I dont understand Mr Steves ! I m not i interested about Idaho or Montana , but You are interested to Abruzzo or Puglia and every italian place. Our culture is the opposite of american way of life and the most of americans dont know italian culture and habits : so why this obsession?
So sad that you know so little of Americans. We have our charming cities, towns, villages and most especially people. There is a reason why my Italian american friends love America abition and tolerance but still treasure the good parts of the Italian culture.
Italy is beautiful. Many people are attracted to the country not just Americans. However, it's unfortunate that many places in Italy are now getting overcrowded with tourists and Italy is definitely suffering from mass tourism that can be harmful to its infrastructure and the residents. I hope they will do something about it. Places like San Gimignano needs control on visitors.
