  • The Gypsum Hills of Kansas are a beautiful place to hike. The trails wind across the prairie through canyons. These are popular trails with many paths that go on for miles.
This is a moderate trail that goes up and down hills. It is a place beginners and serious hikers and runners can enjoy. The are also horse riders here too. This is on the Gant-Larson Ranch near Medicine Lodge, Kansas.
The Scenic Kansas Group headed up by Nick Abt organized the event. They can be found on Facebook.

Nick, Great video and good balanced commentary. I am a backpacker and "former" Kansan (Topeka, Lawrence). I never had a chance to hike the G. Hills. But on my next trip home I will give it a look. Thanks for your great work. Robb. Idaho

Kansas has snakes. Most are non poisonous, but there are a few copperheads and rattle snakes. There are black whip snakes and black rat snakes on the Elk River Hiking Trail. Most rattle snakes were imported by people who like to hunt them. The copperheads are scattered around, but many of them like in Texas.
