"I remember Akuma training with them. He was strong. Stronger than the others. All he cared about was power. Then, one day... he murdered master Gouken. I must defeat Akuma! However, I can't allow myself to become like him in the process. But what can I do!? All my blood and sweat and training brings me no closer to finding my true purpose! Keeping my urges under control takes all the power I can master! I don't know how long I can resist!" - Ryu
Can someone enlighten me as to why at 0:17 Momochi used a weak shakunetsu? I thought that heavy and EX were the only useful versions of it due their greater damage output and number of hits? Or is there a specific reason that weak/medium fireballs are used?
where do find that anyways, I saw the news but couldnt find a Vid anyways, there was a series of competions set for daigo in January, by Arcadia look for that
How do you pull of an Ultra with Akuma that fast like he does at about 3:00? dont get it you cant even see him doing light punches before it comes out...thank you
It is the arcade version. I know for sure because you can see each players score card info underneath each player's name. Notice those blurred characters under the red rectangles in the top corners.
@hotlikesummer thats not completely on reaction every good akuma buffers two lp in the sweep animation, so he only has to do a single input to activate raging demon against focus attacks/backdashes
Given the hadoukens are good for placement...why isn't Daigo more into Gouki/Akuma, who can do it in the air? Does he prefer Ryu for the well-rounded playstyle?
@Disapproval Momochi is going to be at Season's Beatings 5 in Columbus, OH Oct. 15-17, 2010. Daigo will be there as well, along with many other top players, J. Wong included.
@Armdevil. I don't know if I agree: if Daigo had blocked the sweep he would be out of range. In this case he could either 1) wait for Momochi to do a move and try to counter, 2) hadouken, risking a sweep; 3) step forward and do the low forward - hadouken combo; 4) focus cancel backwards or 5) focus cancel forward. In each case except 5 he could have easily countered the raging demon. Momochi is not prone to wild guesses, but still I can't believe he pulled that demon out of nowhere.
@crazy88boss SF4 has a "Focus Attack" system, where you charge up a punch/kick for a couple seconds and let loose a stun hit. During that charge, you can take one hit, and not flinch. It doesn't go through all specials, though, due to multihit or an armor-break property. Anyhow, that charge can also be canceled by dash. At 1:06, Akuma started his focus, took the fireball, then backdash. Hits taken during focus do inflict damage, though it can be recovered over time if you don't get hit again.
if you press lp when performing a fire hado, its only one hit so a reg hadoken can cancel it out, but if you press hp then its a 3 hit, and the reg hado is broken through and there would still be 2 hits left on the fire hado....get it?
@djmaui The common argument is that the joystick offers faster mobility since you're using all your fingers instead of just your thumb. In other words: One finger to six buttons = harder inputs; three or more fingers to six buttons = easier inputs. Also, from my experience, joystick takes some getting used to. Hope this helps.
what comp is this? and is momochi considered better than daigo? i know daigo is much more famous and has won more but after this do people think momochi is better? has there been any rematches?
Thanks for answering, would you please name that Japanese champion, I`d love to see some videos...I got the PC windows live version, can we play online with XboX and PS3 guys? I`ve payed 35 EUR for the game...
@Utyers don't you know that Ryu is a zoning character? Did your mom distract you also from seeing that Daigo was able to push Momochi to the corner almost all the time?
@cougher989 No, not while he was blocking. He pressed two jabs right after he did the low roundhouse. He was expecting Daigo to try and focus it, which he did, so Momochi just reacted to the focus and followed through with the remaining inputs (all during the animation of the low roundhouse). "Buffering" means inputting commands during the animation of another move. Well, you have to do it pretty quickly, before the animation of the Cr.HK ends because it's a cancel. And yes, this works in Super.
@datbabydino Well, i don't think Gouki is weak. Sure, he's got like 700 hp or so but his combos and zoning abilities are just insane. Why do you think it's a 5-5 versus against Sagat? Capcom shouldn't touch Gouki, but a nerfed Sagat would be really nice, same with ryu's shoryu.
@DRCsyntax all I know is if i'm using a tactic, regardless of how simple or cheesy as fireball phasing/screening, if it's not working, i'm not going to keep doing it hoping something different happens. I don't discredit him for being a fantastic player... but this particular battle doesn't show that.
This IS Daigo. Also this is an old video. From December. Don't you think he's a bit better now than he was? Momochi is too. Either way this is one of my favorite matches. That Demon was sweet!
Yeah, it is Daigo, he uses Ryu's alternate costume whenever he can. Which combo are you talking about? Daigo usually plays like most Ryus, with the exception that he reacts faster then most. As for the reading the opponent, the problem in this case is, Momochi's gameplay is really safe, hard to counter.
@strykah92 That wasn't my main point. Daigo is a lot better now two years later. His gameplay is a lot more refined and has a lot more tricks up his sleeve. If current Daigo played on Vanilla SF4 right now against Momochi in a Ryu vs. Akuma rematch, the results would most likely be different.
@tyzer23 He buffered 2 jabs into the sweep. That made it easier for him to react to the focus attack as he only had to do back+short+fierce (all at the same time, it's a shortcut) after that. It's a common trick used by all the top Akuma players in the world.
@chrisalayon If you have ranged attacks use them. That's why they make hybrid characters. (Of course I'm a MUGEN player so I'm not used to characters having similar attack sets. So I might be wrong)
daigo is amazing at sf4.. r u basing ur last comment off this match? if so, this match was fought in december of 2008. im sure he was very new to the game and even watching this match u can tell he didnt really know the gouki match up well. but in there most recent fight at gods garden momochi didnt even win a match out of 3
@SonofGenkai18 Yes a little less than half of the cast do have some sort of projectile and not all of them are hadoukens and some even have some sort of upwards arial attack that resembles a shoryuken. Yet, what would you see most people do when choosing a fighter competitively or even casually? You KNOW it's the hadoukens. And it's because their attacks are EASY TO DO and appears to take priority over MOST other attacks. Looking at..."articles"...won't change that fact. Now, peace out to you.
DOES ANYONE KNOW: if the loop works on pc version? since i only have a gamepad it sucks to plink with it but i can do most of the combos except of comboing into roundhouse, is it not possible in pc version? (street fighter 4, not super)
That's the so-called 'FADC' (Focus Attack Dash Cancel) When you press mid-punch and mid-kick together the character goes in to Focus Attack mode (which has 3 different levels), and it can be canceled by dashing forward or backward (for the first 2 levels). Focus Attack also absorbs a single hit which regenerate over time (unless you get hit, in which case you take the full damage) Plus it counts towards Ultra meter, too.
@kodzillah he used akuma's ultra combo (notice revenge meter was flaming), it's called "wrath of raging demon" (27 hits) which is much stronger than "raging demon" (15 hits)
@nazyligger4 when u try and do the ex hadoken, the only reason youre teleporting is because youre doing the motion wrong....... and it would help to press two punch buttons at the same time, instead of the L1 button because the engine will assume youre trying to teleport........ make sure youre doing the correct motion though
@3102485 I just don't understand the point of giving a label to a play style that is inconsequential to whether or not you win. Inexperienced/crappy players should suffice. What is a scrub?
Hm.. I think Momochi landed the same 400+ damage combo at least 3 times, how diverse is that? In all seriousness, Daigo zones his opponent with hadoukens, that's how he keeps proper spacing, it also builds his super meter constantly. Ryu's hadoukens are not used to do damage, but to force your opponent to stay where you want him. Other characters have their own zoning tools, Ryu's is his hadouken. Watch some of Daigo's more recent videos and you'll see him playing a bit more aggressively.
Actually, when someone uses an ulti while your in focus, you can start spamming tap backwards, and then when its done either jump up or go into block, depending on what ulti your avoiding. Ive done it before...
@ForbiddenWarrior1 So obviously this video is old news, he plays way differently now, and Ken's properties have changed twice since this video. SSF4, AE
@UnhappyConsoleGamer Dude that is not a parry it is done by just holding mk and mp at the same time to counter an oncoming attack. A parry is like sf3 where you tap forward as an attack is coming at you to parry it and quickly counter attack.
i'm not 100 percent but i'm fairly sure they are playing on an arcade system. I think they have specially designed systems for the pros. For tourneys and things. Don't quote me but i think thats how it works
@bloodsh0t While all points are correct. Daigo is more or less feeling out what the other guy will do when there's a fireball coming. Jump, Focus, or block. He did the same thing more or less on other games. Lets also note that this video itself is very early before Daigo actually got good at this game. So you can't expect god like results. He's only human.
These were some good times
That Akuma ultra setup was genius
"I remember Akuma training with them. He was strong. Stronger than the others. All he cared about was power. Then, one day... he murdered master Gouken. I must defeat Akuma! :))
ITS ME .. COME AND KILL ME
better than most people in 2022
2020 like 👀
@OpForza Where? All i saw was the bnb combos and good predictions.
2020!!!!!!!!!!
Can someone enlighten me as to why at 0:17 Momochi used a weak shakunetsu? I thought that heavy and EX were the only useful versions of it due their greater damage output and number of hits? Or is there a specific reason that weak/medium fireballs are used?

@GOD0l0LOVE0THE0NET - Go go supa troll
Isn't Momochi the name for Justin Wong's dog? (I only know this from Gootecks' Podcast)
What are those punches called, where the black inky stuff comes out?!?!?!?
I just noticed something, when the fuck was Akuma/Gouki in the Arcade version of Vanilla?!
@CapaKuma
I guess not hit confirm, but how do you know if they're gonna' focus and dash forward?
It is the arcade version. I know for sure because you can see each players score card info underneath each player's name. Notice those blurred characters under the red rectangles in the top corners.
@djmaui
get a fight stick either the te or se with sanwa parts. it woks wonders compare to the pad.
@OpForza you know how much hd cameras/equiptment cost in 2008? A lot more than in 2011, just be thankful he recorded it for you.
@ImNoGoth1 thankz bro :) but could you please tell the buttons on the ps3 controller? pardon a noob gamer haha :)
can some one please tell me what move was that that Akuma did at 2:46? was that some kind of parry?
@hotlikesummer
thats not completely on reaction
every good akuma buffers two lp in the sweep animation, so he only has to do a single input to activate raging demon against focus attacks/backdashes

@ddazza7447 Wouldn't that be a hit confirm if he had time to cancel the input?
How do u unlock those other outfits like the one ryu has in the new super street fighter iv, me want XD
@Armdevil. I don't know if I agree: if Daigo had blocked the sweep he would be out of range. why the hit sound effects sound different than ours :\ the kick sound n fireballs sounds kinda better than american
if you press lp when performing a fire hado, its only one hit so a reg hadoken can cancel it out, but if you press hp then its a 3 hit, and the reg hado is broken through and there would still be 2 hits left on the fire hado....get it?
wow....how awsome was the setup for that shin shun goku satsu? Beautiful ultra.
What the hell at 0:35? EX air gohadoken and an additional one?
@Invincnerd You realise how old this video is right?
@makintran Have you won any world tournaments lately?
Daigo would tear you a new one, don't judge the man's style.

@jguitarist92 on XBL it's "Gameinn" - not sure if it's the same on PSN
These two players are great! I've never seen anyone link combos as good and accurate as these two do it.
@BruNE0DJ what he did at 3:00 is called Option Select.
Where can I find more recent Momochi videos? Nico?
arcade .
it was only out for arcade at that time.
and i think they're also use to the arcade sticks
because arcades are pretty popular there.
@Utyers don't you know that Ryu is a zoning character? Did your mom distract you also from seeing that Daigo was able to push Momochi to the corner almost all the time?
Wait what exactly did momochi do at 2:58? Was it an option select? I cannot for the life of me figure it out, i know he wasn't just guessing.
@bailer4life It is spelled...."Z-O-N-I-N-G". What do you mean "it is not a food..." anyway?
@cougher989 No, not while he was blocking. He pressed two jabs right after he did the low roundhouse. He was expecting Daigo to try and focus it, which he did, so Momochi just reacted to the focus and followed through with the remaining inputs (all during the animation of the low roundhouse). why special fireball from akuma is stoped just with a simple ryu's hadouken?
@juize you're right, it's not daiko. it's daigo
@HunterX57 His name is not Daigo, it is Marlon Pankhurst.
how do i unlock that costume for Ryu ?
@rafab1980
It's a much tighter button sequence on the ps3 controller..
I don't think you would be able to do it..
didn't know Super Street Fighter 4 was on Super nintendo. Where can I get this?
@datbabydino Well, i don't think Gouki is weak. Sure, he's got like 700 hp or so but his combos and zoning abilities are just insane. Why do you think it's a 5-5 versus against Sagat?

I don't discredit him for being a fantastic player... but this particular battle doesn't show that.
@ForbiddenWarrior1 You know this video is from 2008 right??????
@holyblade917 You have to dash during the focus, as in while holding the focus buttons, press forward twice or press back twice to dash out of it.
Can you hit confirm c.rh into raging demon?
This IS Daigo. Also this is an old video. From December. Don't you think he's a bit better now than he was? Momochi is too. Either way this is one of my favorite matches. That Demon was sweet!

does anybody know who is the #1 players in these character categores / dictator, el fuerte, claw , and guile thx
@DaKingOfAce the focus attack is probably what you're referring to...to do it just push the mid punch and mid kick t the same time (MP+MK)
@butterflyknife08 Isn't that an option select?
have you ever even played blazblue? if you did, did you take the time to actually get good at or did you just barely play it?
wow how many times did daigo use hadoken?
how do you get that costume for ryu??
DOES ANYONE KNOW: if the loop works on pc version? since i only have a gamepad it sucks to plink with it but i can do most of the combos except of comboing into roundhouse, is it not possible in pc version? (street fighter 4, not super)

what kind of name is mochi? i know its japanese but now i feel like eating some right now
@hurr1can ohk ........ im not a street fighter pro sooo , thankyou for your comments , i dont understand.
why does momochi not play akuma anymore
Actually, when someone uses an ulti while your in focus, you can start spamming tap backwards, and then when its done either jump up or go into block, depending on what ulti your avoiding. Ive done it before...
@AlexxShadenk777 actually, you should watch dsp vs damdai at the SBO ST Tourney. no seriously, watch it, i think that has MORE hadokens.
@AlexxShadenk777 what? ur mom does more hadokens? she plays street fighter also?
It says Umehara underneath Ryu's portrait.
@ForbiddenWarrior1 So obviously this video is old news, he plays way differently now, and Ken's properties have changed twice since this video. SSF4, AE
@Rodrigo00 look for daigo's match against justin wong in street fighter 3. If you've played the game, then your mind's gonna explode
@Drizzydid apparently you gotta buy them online, lame huh
@Timbaland101 how is it a classic? ryu got handled badly...
@UnhappyConsoleGamer Dude that is not a parry it is done by just holding mk and mp at the same time to counter an oncoming attack. A parry is like sf3 where you tap forward as an attack is coming at you to parry it and quickly counter attack.
@siththomas no shit, thats what i said... the "his DP sucks" was about ken not about akuma. Read it seriously.
what, no interview?
i wonder if someone could play a fireball game for akuma like daigo does with ryu
@NarutoTailFoxPwnage why are u guys naming bible quotes. this is ssf4
i'm not 100 percent but i'm fairly sure they are playing on an arcade system. I think they have specially designed systems for the pros. For tourneys and things. Don't quote me but i think thats how it works
@Splurgendii it is.. he didnt know the akuma match up in sf4. this might of been his first match vs akuma.. look when this was posted
@topemeister3000 Hey wat made u say that??..
@bloodsh0t

i need to pass a urine drug test i got 3 weeks ive stop smoking a week ago...please reply asap..its my last drug test..keep toking....thanks
