- Zeliko Obradovic might be the best coach in basketball. Yes, despite not having coached a minute in the best league in basketball all time greats like Popovich have admitted to learning from watching and studying Zeliko.
With 9 Euroleague championships to his name , he is one of the most decorated names in European basketball. All that winning doesn't come without a temper however. So here is a compilation of some of his best moments and outbursts.

The worst thing that can happen is that he ignores you. As long as he screams on you, that means that he believes in you, that there is something that he sees in you and your team needs from you. He never yelled at the guys on the end of the bench.

Not when having guys like Miličić and Racočević trying to impose their ego and literally letting their rivarly divide the team while guys like Radmanović looked downright bored while in court and Kristic was still kinda raw . What where the first 2 especially expecting , for Bodiroga and Rebrača to carry the whole NT to the finals while they would go out every night partying ( while at least Scepanović had balls and told Zeljko he was going out and took responsibility for his actions ) ?
Zelijko is the epitome why no NBA franchise never would trust their team to a European coach ever; competitive to the bone, doesn't care about player's ego, the W is their only goal. Ask Kosta, he will tell you he is the best coach he ever had. It's a different game.
Imagine if Kobe had to deal with him.

Sve je počelo preko Žarka Paspalja, koga je Greg Popovič snimio na nekom turniru i kasnije doveo u San Antonio. Međutim, on je tada bio asistent Leriju Braunu, koji je poznat kao trener koji ne voli evropske igrače, a Palja je uz Dražena, Divca, Marčuljonisa i Volkova bio prvi igrač koji je direktno iz Evrope otišao u NBA, kada su Ameri bili mnogo više skeptični nego danas. Paspalj je u startu živeo kod Grega kući i tako je započelo njihovo prijateljstvo.

And he was a pointguard for the greatest team of yugoslavia despite mostly dribbling with only one hand. Why? Because he did his job and scored when he had to. Beautiful.

Imagine that Panathinaikos had him as head coach and Dimitris Itoudis the current head coach of CSKA Moscow as assistant coach for so many years. Pretty much the best duo ever.
The 2009 Panathinaikos he assembled, was simply the best and, above all, most complete team ever seen in European basketball!

And then you look at the frontcourt with Peković and Batiste, plus Drew Nicholas, Fotsis, Perperoglou, Tsartsaris... Scary... But it's not as if the competition was weak - on the contrary. CSKA with JR Holden, Šiškauskas, Langdon, Smodiš, Papaloukas, Khryapa... Then Barca with Navarro, Rubio, Jaka Lakovič, Ndong, Basile... Baskonia with Teletović, Splitter, Rakočević, Pete Mickeal, Prigioni. Then Montepaschi with Kaukenas, Lavrinovič, McIntyre, Romain Sato, Stonerook... Unicaja played excellent basketball in those years, as did Partizan, which developed excellent young players and had great results.

Actually, most players like to play for him and speak in superlatives about him as a person. The only player I can think of who didn't stay on good terms with him is Vassilis Spanoulis, but only because he worked behind his back when he left for Olympiacos.

Only player from NBA who would love Obradovic was MJ. Same kind of passion for winning and getting better, more, more and more. Practice, win, practice, win. All that matters to Obradovic is to win. He is a born leader and hard but fair coach. He wants perfection from his players and total obedience. Results are all that matter to him.
