I got my autograph on my knockoff adidas grey Sepultura shirt though lol. Last signature left to collect. He kind of rolled his eye a little at Andreas and Paolo’s sigs 😂

Dude glad someone finally confirmed it for me because Ive seen old school pics of max when he used to play bc rich war locks and it always looked like he was playing only 4 strings and his high string tuning knobs were always removed and missing. I never looked it up or found info on his playing style but now you and this video confirmed it for me. Ha atleast hes honest about it and straight to the point unlike some bands who play 7 string guitars and literally only play the two low strings. Bands like suicide silence and whitechapel need to take notes and lessons from Max because they are the type of bands im referring to when I say they literally only play riffs on two low strings. Dont even understand bands like whitechapel who have 3 7string guitarists either. Everytime I ask why they have 3 guitarist ppl get all bent out of shape and talk shit instead of educating folks who ask the same question.

He uses also Peavey Triple XXX. I always loved Peavey and EVH amps. I used a triple xxx combo with a Gibson SG Standard.

Lots of bands are using them on tour. For bands who use a lot of tunings, they only have to use 2 guitars instead of 5-6, pretty awesome.

Not sure if SIT will release a signature set but Lace put out Max's signature pickups. I think they're called Downstroyers or something like that

2022 everyone started rocking Fishman Fluences
I love Fishman's but I didn't have much choice for my 7 string. I do recommend a Deathbar (Bridge), X Bar (Neck) for extended range players if you dont wanna go active. Fishman's are going the way of EMG and everyone's gonna sound the same before long.

Max will never tell you this, but he’s rocking the Seymour JB pickup in most of his guitars. That’s how he gets that over saturated distortion without breaking up.

I feel so bad for Max's tech, trying to stop the neck from twisting has got to be a nightmare.
First thing I thought too. Only 4 strings?? The laws of physics are gonna be pissed!!
Depends on how good the truss rod is. Some have 2 to combat that sort of problem.
I also wonder about how his guitar keeps the b tuning considering the guitar scale length is 24/25
You can barely even hear Max's guitar when Soulfly play live, I'm honestly surprised it is even plugged in! On a side note, i'm pleased we now know the colour of Max's underwear! :p
That's weird. Maybe the live mix from the show you were at was off. Oh, and we all were curious what color his underwear is. :)
I noticed that as well. at both soulfly shows and Cavalera conspiracy his guitar is definitely turned way down compared to Marc's. I felt it was more so a security thing to keep his focus more on vocals and let Marc do his thing leading the songs
max doesn't do a shit anymore since years, only open strings 1st 2nd fret, the other guitar player does all the shit.
Didn't wanna be so truthful about it but yes Max only does random open string and first few fret miming. He plays more of a drum rhythm kinda thing. Either way it is barley audible in the bands mix.
Brian C last time i saw him live was with cavalier conspiracy, they were 600 people i was in the fron,t was looking what he was doing and the guitar was off couldn't hear anything

Sorry we didn't get that info for you. This video was filmed on huge time constraints due to the venue they were playing that day, so we were a little rushed.

Low E? The standard E string isn't even low at all, also I highly doubt Max does stuff in E tunning
It is still called low E because you have the high E string as well. Also, it's still the low E string wherever it is tuned down. Max does no stuff at all on guitar anyway on any strings any more.

I thought the same the first time I'd seen him but when I saw soulfly in petaluma Max looked alot healthier and thinner. I think he's getting himself more in shape. he was also much more personable and lively, he played for a bit solo on stage just playing parts of songs and playing to the crowd of us metal heads! Max is the man!
hes an incredible person. it isn't easy to get in shape. I am a 49 year old metalhead. I lost 70 pounds and got in much better shape last year. it ain't easy. especially at the beginning!!

Peavey gave away amps (especially 5150) to bands since early 2000 , no wonder the young sheep started buying ... But see no bands stuck with 5150s or similar
