    “The power is in the cross” - You can tell Henry understands the game really well

    • @AzUthred
      @AzUthred 2 года назад +24

      Well technicaly most of the power is in Benzemas momentum (physicly), and how he puts his weight in to the header. If he would have got the same cross while standing still, he could never head the ball with this pace. This wasnt a strong cross.
      So Henry is wrong with this statment or he is talking about "abstract power". Because it was indeed a perfect cross.

    • @TheMRmatt007

      Well, he was a professional player for many years. It would be a paradox if he didn't understand the game. Like a veteran welder who doesn't understand welding...Henry could probably become a very good coach. The only thing I disn't like about him is when he cheated against Ireland, and that for me is a big stain on his otherwise good career.

      He is a good analyst, ex great player doesnt necessarily have the capability to dissect the moment, most of them are instinctual/muscle memory coming from years and years of playing football. this kind of segment really goes to show people how much thing happen to create a great football, if you ever play football, you know to put the spin, hit the ball at certain places etc, for the pro in the field they dont even think, they just do and trust the training they did everyday. for us viewer, cause they make it seem so easy and natural, you assume what they do is easy and natural, until you touch the ball yourself.

      What makes Benzema even more awesome is that he does it not because he wants the spotlight, but because someone needs to take the 2 very important roles that were left vacant, and for the past seasons nobody was taking it up. Cristiano Ronaldo spotlight and Sergio Ramos captaincy.
      You can truly feel he's the captain of that team. He is taking the role not because he wants, but because he's the only one with the leadership skills that Real Madrid lost when Cristiano and Sergio Ramos left.
      You can see why they gave him the Captain armband, he brings a thirst to continue to push that you normally only see it on defenders.
      And what makes it even more efficient is because Real Madrid are always the weaker side, so they do need to play with an all or nothing approach that Benzema thrives on.

    Football is simple. It's all about space. When I used to play football in college and I was defending I never paid sole attention to the opposition player or the ball but the space. Closing down space, intercepting spaces so opposition can't find teammates, closing down channels that players would run into. If you can do that you can eventually find an oppurtunity to recover the ball. The idea is not to stick tight onto the player but close down the space between you and the player to limit movement.

    Thierry Henry is a phenomenal orator and analyzer of the beautiful game. He composes his sentences the way you would expect from someone whose first language is a romance language. And I for one, am a huge fan of that. His accent is awesome, his syntax is refreshingly unique. And his evaluation of soccer (football) is very detailed and accurate. He is a great addition to this panel of experts, and I hope he sticks around for a long time.

    I hated people when they criticized Benzema. He wasn't finisher in RM, he was the guy who enabled the wings, who held the ball until the midfield could stretch out from the defence. Thats why their counter attacks were spectacular. You couldnt take the ball away from him. He could hold 3 players behind him with his back to the goal. He held it until the triengles are formed.
    The defence was flat footed but his wingers were all on the move, and using the speed they would pierce through the defence.
