    We bought this couch nine years ago and fully intended to leave it behind when we sold our house to avoid this process, haha. Luckily, we found your video. You are the only humans in the known universe who made a video that actually enabled us doofuses to disassemble our sleeper sofa, move it across the country, and successfully reassemble. Huge thanks, and a lifetime of sweet dreams to you!

    Thank, great video! Very clear instructions and visual aids.
    Really well done and helpful for disassembling and reassembling 2 of my American Leather Comfort Sleepers this weekend!!
    ADDITIONAL INSTRUCTIONS for older versions.
    We own 3 of them. I contacted AL a number of years ago and got disassembly instructions (which left somethings out) and determined I've probably got 2 version 3 (ear and no ear) and 1 version 2 (ear). The version 2 is probably the oldest because the first (head) bed panel remains attached to the folding mechanisms on both sides and the folding mechanisms are unscrewed from the side panels. Yesterday I disassembled are reassembled the two older (ear) ones.
    The first thing in the instructions from AL is to remove the two heavy duty springs. Their photo shows a man holding the partially open bed at a steep angle (middle and bottom panels are aligned straight, vertically) and a second man removing the spring on one side. (I had detached the middle/bottom section before removing the springs- read below.) Then, if there's a strap, with the bed partially open remove it, it hooks into the head panel and the back of the sofa (both mine have a strap).
    PHOTOGRAPHS:
    Consider taking 2 or 3 photographs of the arrangement of the mechanism and the head panel "pins" in their tracks before unscrewing the mechanism.
    Position of the sofa for this step: The sofa was on its feet (normal use position).
    First, the crossbar connecting the side panels comes off (4 screws each side). Then, if you have not done so already, remove the springs by arranging the mechanism so the springs are shortened enough to stretch them over their catches. Then, I believe, I positioned the panel vertically (my wife held it in place) (Before moving on take a good look and photograph how the bed section and side panel are arranged (keeping the bed section vertical as a "landmark" worked for me) ). Unscrew each of the mechanisms the three 1/2" bolts (both sides), then two people remove the bed section while holding the mechanisms so that they don't flop around and bonk either of you or otherwise damage anything.

    Thank you for this clear and thorough video. We we able to find out that our sleeper was missing bolts and some bolts were loosened. It was easy to tighten and replace bolts allowing the bed mechanism to operate smoothly. Thanks for taking the time to create this and for sharing your knowledge.

      For some reason the support bar that attaches across linking the mechanisms will not align properly. It fits into place but the four screws do not align with the screw holes. Any thoughts? Thanks so much

    This is a terrific, and totally helpful video. It took me three hours to disassemble and reassemble the sofa sleeper by myself, but every nut and bolt went back in place. If you're in the market for furniture in the Cambridge, MA area, I would check out Circle Furniture. If they took the time to produce this video, I( would expect their customer service to be excellent.

    I have a Patterson sleeper sofa (Model C SAL Prototype ID CS163 March 2010) that was totally dissembled . This model has a 3 spring mechanism on it. After installing it without any directions, I have only been able to get the mattress to only recline 3/4 of the way back in. Do you happen to have pictures or directions on how to assemble the Patterson sofa? Thank you

    If I found the same size sleeper with a temperpedic mattress, could I take it off one couch and then attach it to my couch? Or are they different thicknesses and it wouldn’t fit in my couch?

    How do you get the tension spring back on if it comes off?

    • @CircleFurnitureBoston
      @CircleFurnitureBoston  2 года назад

      Thanks for reaching out. It’s difficult to get back on, but you need to stretch it to reattach it. The only way to really get it back on is to hook one side on then grab the other side with a pair of pliers and stretch it to the other ring to hook it on. Hope this helps - let us know if you have any further questions.

    I have the NAT-CH2-TS, purchased in 2007, a twin extra long. American leather sent me pdf disassembly directions but could not tell me how to reassemble or what tools were needed. Will the directions in your video work for that model? What parts of the video can be ignored? It has to be removed from a third floor. I recall that Circle Furntiure took off one arm/side to get it up the stairs. Of course I do not even own those tools at the moment....

    • @CircleFurnitureBoston
      @CircleFurnitureBoston  2 года назад

      Thanks for reaching out,
      It will be similar to our video but not exactly the same. The back would be removed the same way. Some have one screw per side and others have two. Your version may not have the extra support bar on the back of the top mattress section. As for tools, you would need to have a ½” socket wrench for most of the bolts. 7/16” is needed for the bar that runs from arm to arm after you remove the mattress sections. One important thing to note, do not detach any of the mechanism parts from the arms. You’ll never get it back on right.
      We hope this helps!

    Great vid. Can anyone explain the purpose of the first step? On our sofa, this step seems to detach the arms (we have 4 rather than 2 screws) but in the video, the arms are never detached, and don’t need to be. What is the purpose of this step and can it be skipped and go right to removing the 4 bolts holing the mattress mechanism? Thank you.

    • @CircleFurnitureBoston
      @CircleFurnitureBoston  2 года назад

      Thank you for watching and reaching out. You can skip the first step but you will eventually need to remove those screws to fully disassemble the piece. You can remove those screws when you flip the sofa on its front. We just do it first because it’s easier to access them from the front. Hope this helps - have a great week! Melissa,
      Thank you for reaching out. The best course of action would be to contact Crate and Barrel. If you live close to a Circle Furniture location, we do offer a technical assistance service for a fee. We could coordinate to have an independent technician come by to take it apart for you. We hope this helps, and thank you again for watching and reaching out.
