blessed enough to get me 2013 2.4L recently and can't wait to drive it everyday. 70 miles of commutes feels not long enough with this car. super fun to drive and hopefully they wouldnt stop making great cars like this in the future, especially Manual Trans
I do love the aftermarket support. A lot of the civic parts can fit onto it. The car is super reliable. All I had to do was change the oil, spark plugs, and coolant in 120,000 miles. Still on stock clutch.
I have a 2013 charcoal grey ILX just got it repainted and powder coated the wheels again to a triple bronze , I’m receiving a lot of compliments and only 90 K miles , new tires are next and lowering springs !
I got the 2014 ILX brand new back in 2013. Sadly I didn't go for the Manual Transmission version since they wanted an extra $10K for the 'sporty' version. I loved my ILX, only thing I hated was the lack of beeping if you were backing up to an object. I accidently backed into one of those poles at the gas tank because I couldn't see out of my back or from the camera because it was dark and downpouring like crazy that night. If it had that feature I wouldn't of hit the damn pole smh.
My #1 dislike has to be the projectors they put in the headlights. The 1st gen tsx has a better cutoff then the ILX #2 would have to be how much rattling I get inside the car around the center counsel and glovebox.
Thanks for the review. I have 2017 ILX and I like it. I hear u on the trunk closing very hard.. I hear the transmissions (7 speed auto) are a weak point. Now they have the 8 speeds. Time will tell
Hey quick question, where did you get those bright white low beam headlights that’s in the thumbnail in your video? I would appreciate it if you could get back to me
How dare you! the ELS surround sound stereo is phenomenal. Do yourself a favor and get some dvd audio 5.1 discs. The sound is amazing. I love my 2014 ILX Dynamic. Especially since I paid under 15K for it in April '18.
Thanks much appreciated! Chance is looking to get another set of wheels and sell the more race-style ones he's replacing (not the ones in the video, he loves those.) So we can definitely do an update video on his car late June/early July. Make sure to subscribe for updates so you can see when it's up!
Will subscribe. I was looking for aftermarket upgrades like rear camera, door light, screen mirroring upgrades on ilx as there's little to no info. Appreciate the reply. Thanks
I have an ILX and I hate the hidden exhaust with the tip underneath the bumper. I also don't think there is as much aftermarket support as you mentioned. Aside from suspension parts, I've found that nothing aftermarket on the Civic Si is really compatible with the ILX. And the ILX itself has very few aftermarket parts specifically made for it.
TheRzarectah The hidden exhaust is a bit annoying, actually a lot of parts made for the si fit on the ilx since the one I have has the 2.4 so engine mods are pretty interchangeable. Make sure to sub for more videos!
Thank you, I appreciate it. The wheels are 20x8 +35 I believe. The wheels on their website are discontinued but you can find them other places but here's the link, www.xoluxurywheels.com/discontinued_xo_luxury_wheels.php they're the Tokyo design.
Loved my one in every aspect the only thing I don't understand is why are the back two seats not heated but only the front two are. The audio system could have been a Bose or with a video screen instead would not have costed them Much.
It's alright (mine is 2016). It has traction control and all that fun stuff, but it's still a front wheel drive car at the end of the day. Take it slow with a good set of tires and you'll be fine. I live in Utah, and I felt safe in it in the snow.
I have a 2013 ILX here in Ontario, Canada. Unfortunately Not a manual trans. Any suggestions for first mods? Keep in mind that I'm 60 (61 actually), with a limited budget. I Love the sound of yours. Not too loud or too tin can-ish. What changes did you make to your exhaust? Just found this video today, so I will be looking into more of your vids. Thanks for posting ... CHEERS
I have the same car bought 2 weeks ago, used to own an elantra and frankly, I miss my elantra. I don't like the ILX at all, I prefer comfort over sportiness and the acura suspension is way too stiff, hate that. The transmission is way more jerky, elantra had a smooth transmission. This car only has 150HP, elantra was faster and also better fuel economy. I'm thinking of selling it and buying another elantra.
Which exhaust do you have on? As from what people are saying I hate how the ILX has a stupid hidden exhaust and I still have mine on stock so and it sounds terrible lol
*QUESTION:* assuming i cant find a manual, which of the 2 other trans is better: 5 speed auto (2013 thru 15), or the 8 speed dual clutch (2016 thru present)?
Im contemplating buying a 2014 2.4 with 80k on it for 10k. Only downside is it an automatic. Do you think thats a decent price? Anything that i should look for when looking over it?
That's a pretty good price if the car is healthy and straight. Autos are fine too especially if it's a daily, they're not terribly fast cars so not like you'll be street racing much.
Had it a year now... love it except the suspension... I could only find replacement at the dealer and was too expensive.. i ended up getting a used one to replace mine!
The type dynamic ILX does have LSD turn off the vsa it has helicomp limited slip dif and a duel clutch. Feels like way less power when the vsa turned off and power split between both front wheels but for winding roads turn off vsa
I just bought the 2017 Acura ILX and I feel like it’s pretty basic..I’m really wanting to change out the factory radio because I want something more up to date
I have a 2014...92k miles, 93 octane (91 doesn't exist anymore in the USA) & it doesn't do as well as it should. I get a little over 27mpg, witch is good, but ...
As far as what types of parts go? It shares the same 2.4 as the Civic SI, so finding parts for the engine is easy. Other than that, Chance has mostly just done stuff like coilovers & wheels & tires. The coilovers are easy to find for the ILX, just Google your year. There's really not a lot of body kits or stuff like that other than mechanical parts. He can get you a list of his mods I'm sure
Not sure which trim you're looking for but it's a great car for daily driving. You won't win many drag races with it but it is a great car that is comfortable, in my experience.
@@diegudr LSD will help prevent wheel spin when the tires are moving at different speeds due to slippage, so yeah it affects handling. It helps with safety sure, but its there to make sure you don't lose power transfer to the road.
The car looks good on those rims, thanks for the vid. I like that it's kind of a sleeper since most can't tell when it's the 2.4L VTec... to add to dislike I think the reverse is a bit louder than i'm use to :-/

Same here, only at 80k but still running like a dream
Just got the 2020 ilx loving it so far!
Just got a 2013 ILX Tech and while it doesn’t have the 2.4 it’s still quick. Your rims look great!

I had a 2004 TSX and I just loved that car. My ILX doesn’t give me the same feel .. mainly the changes to the interior are subpar.
I just got one ☝️ I’m excited to start driving it

Your dislikes are very picky I’m curious what other cars you’ve owned??
it's just things u notice over time

I have the 2016 ILX I found the cell phone charge in the storage box is really annoying hard to reach to plug-in my cellphone
any problems with check engine light when you had dc sports catback on your ilx??
Not yet

These are all things you would normally discover before you buy. You should probably do more research next time.
Best way to clean the stereo area?
Yea the 2018 Acura ILX still uses that crappy interior. Hopefully it gets updated on the 2019 model, but a lot of people are doubting that...
How is the ilx in the snow? Traction?😃
Don’t mind the ELS but I miss the deeper and richer sound from German cars, which I previously own.
Yes I agree. I have my bass turned all the way up and treble to 0.

Low head room, if you're tall it's gonna bug you. Besides that great car
I'm 6'4 and haven't had issues, lowered the seat a little but mostly because I like sitting low
better to get a civic. The ILX is super over rated.

I drive the 2.0. Not good as a drag racer, but the top end is great- accelerate from 80 and wow- great freeway flyer. Oh, and it handles like a dream.
The ILX has a stiffer frame and a different front end from the Civic- better handling.

Dave Danker Limited slip differential
