    I felt like this video is much more appealing then the previous videos of this channel. The tone, the linking between mistakes, the simplifications they all are greater than before. If you tried something new I must say that I liked that much more.

    Objection. Anakin's downfall started with hints in episode 1. This story spanned 3 films and not just the third. Also there's a novel that explains even more what happend. I think writing a book compared to a movie script is two pairs of shoes. You can take your sweet time in a novel. Not so in a movie.

      a novel separated from the movie is a cheap way of enriching your story and doesn't affect the formers quality

      @@Mykasah But the script/written part comes long before the movie. I read the novel to ep.3 before the film was in cinema. The truth is that you can't squeeze all of the story in a movie.

    Just read, "Aristotle and Dante discover the secrets of the universe." It had all the standard book elements of a coming of age story, but it fell flat.
    I think the issue was that there was no tension. The tone and pacing were somehow the same, no matter the action occurring in the story.
    So, it just goes to show you can have all the key elements for a great story, but lacking diversity in tone and energy makes everything seem dull and lifeless.

    • @tommymarx391

      I remember enjoying the book but being puzzled by the parents harping on why the main character saved the other character (or something to that effect - it's been years since I've read it). You talk about there not being any tension - I specifically remember thinking the story was trying to create tension in a way that made no sense whatsoever. It's like WHY did you save your friend from harm? As if that's something that even needs explaining or justifying? Maybe they were trying to get the main character to acknowledge his true feelings, but what a bizarre way to do it. Again, I remember liking the story, but some of the author's choices made no sense to me.

    • @TheTaleTinkerer
      @TheTaleTinkerer  26 дней назад +1

      Never even heard of that one somehow, but if tone and pacing remained the same throughout the entire book, I probably would have felt the same, yeah.

      @@tommymarx391 Agreed. Yes, he tried to create tension, but it would fall short. And, ya, it was weird how him saving his friend. And than beating up on of the guys, at the end of the story, who had attacked his friend where why his parents "thought" he was gay. Like, it didn't make any sense. Yes, the story was good. Had all the right elements. But, just lacked emotion. As it was told from the perspective of the main character who's dealing with depression. That may have been intentional. But, it really hurt the story overall.

    This was a wonderful and very helpful video. I love the idea of the plot synergy matrix, but I'm having some trouble envisioning how it can be effectively used in a story with several main point-of-view characters. For stories like Game of Thrones and The First Law books, with their complex characters and individual plots that connect and interact eventually, how would you modify the matrix to accommodate for this?

    I am an aspiring writer who has sorta been wanting to write fantasy for the longest time. I've written a few short stories. But lost my footing and lately have had a hard time really figuring out what it is I'd like my world to look and feel like and how establishing all the elements of it.

    Unlike the Disney films, the prequels had good ideas that weren't executed as well as they could have been. It going out of control in a short time was the point because all the conflicts set up in the last 2 films were piled up to a point where the dam just broke. It's not a bad way to do a character's fall, it just could have been shown better. Flawed as it is, Revenge Of The Sith is my favorite of the movies. It's the culmination of setting up the origins for a character that was menacing in the original films but felt hollow. It's undersandable to want to know the man inside the suit and how he got there. Thus the prequels tried to deliver that. They also took inspiration from Wheel Of Time, before that series was finished, for the main character arc. But hey, George Lucas got the whole losing a hand thing in his parallels years before it happened in Wheel OF Time. Even stuff that was panned in Attack Of The Clones was just poor executions. Anakin hates sand, because of his past on a desert world, but he didn't want to get into the traumatic details of his past, so he fumbles a simpler explanation. The animated Clone Wars TV show redeemed that for me with the much better and more iconic line He says To Ahsoka. "The desert is merciless, it takes everything form you." They totally fumbled the angle of Anakin not knowing how to handle his emotions with his crush. He feels awkward because he tries to express himself and show emotion but he's been taught to repress it for all his years with the Jedi.

      The prequels left a lot on the table, that's for sure. I still appreciate them considerably. I wish Lucas had strong folks on hand to tell him No a few times. The movies could have been better. But I'd give a lot to have more Star Wars at a quality level present in the prequels. Does not look like we will ever see that again.

      @@robertthomas6363 Clone Wars and Rebels seam to be the last of what we're going to get, in terms of good content. Mando was good for a while but full apart. Honestly, the Jedi games' stories weren't great. We'll just have to see. They learned to not renew the EA exclusivity deal there, I hope they let themselves learn other lessons soon. I do find it hilarious that Rebels introduced essentially the Infinite Corridor so they can use time travel to fix the Disney mistakes. Whenever they decide to do that.
