Consider the vine as the divine life energy which we all share. The broken branches are the rampant, unnecessary thoughts created by the mind, the ego, the false self. This crowds out the ability for the true self to flourish. The true self = the actual spirit of God, which is the eternal, uncreated one. Who am I? I am that I am. I am eternally grateful for this knowledge, for which I've sought my entire life.
