I did a variant of this a few weeks ago which was really successful with kids 5-6. We had 1 side doing catapult serves towards a hockey net and a player on the other side was the goal keeper. to my amazement, they started hitting the ball back over the net, something they really struggle with normally when I toss them the ball. I guess the role of being the goal keeper gave them a motivation to hit the ball back because normally they lose interest very fast. Very often, when I toss the ball, if its a bit off, they wont move to go hit it, but by being goalkeepers they started moving around to make contact with the ball. Best part of it though was really seeing that they were having fun hitting balls.

Yes definitely cool to see how the game has room to evolve. They can just start with trying to stop it and then I try to get them in their ready position and see if they can stop it with the right swing. Thanks for commenting!
