Dan your record speaks for itself! As a player u got the most of your ability, props for that. Your highlight is when you get credit for (with alot of help from your team) holding jordan to 16 when you bat them in the tourney In 84 and then lost to olden polynice and Virginia. Dont blame coach knight for your lack of "chances" to coach. When u got a chance you failed. Mike Davis got the job because coach knight got fired maybe if you woulda hung around you coulda screwed it up like Davis and the ones that followed? Indiana hasnt and never will recover. Sucks to be held accountable I guess. Stay on your podcast where u can judge and not be held accountable. Indiana fired knight gets a great hire in tom crean after having to fire cheater sampson then fired screen. Now u rip everyone involved w IU. YOU were an NAIA player that could've only played for a program like coach knight ran. The fans at Louisville had in right when they were flipping you off when you were doing your bullshit "clinic" during a timeout at the FT line. A real pro keeps things to himself.

I was a student at IU. I have two Bob Knight mini stories. One was just kind of funny. My friend Chris and I went to a IU Student event where Knight was going to speak. When Knight took the podium, he said, I’m not going to speak until he takes off his hat. He points to my friend Chris, who is wearing a baseball hat. Chris quickly removed it. This was the 90’s. Some people out of manners would remove hats indoors but not really students in classes. I don’t think anyone cares about that anymore.
The other story was I was eating at Steak N’ Shake in Bloomington with a friend. Bobby Knight was at the restaurant as well, eating at a table with someone else. We had the same waitress. she came over to us and she was flustered, and commented on how big of a jerk he was. Not surprising that Knight was mean to waitresses.

Bob Knight light going fishing. I know this guy who was a teacher here in California and during the summer he worked as a fishing guide. Bob Knight hired him a few times to take him on fishing trips. The man's wife would do all the cooking and he would do the guiding. He's a super nice guy. Anyway apparently bob Knight was a total ass to the guides wife. The guide had enough of it and basically told Knight he was no longer welcome.

Neither Knight nor Dakich had any desire to be liked, their program was built off almost unhealthy competitiveness as have many other programs in college and HS hoops throughout the decades. Why do you think nobody likes Isiah Thomas? They had a philosophy on how to build champions and still stick to it even today, they don’t care if you like it or not. As I recall the last unbeaten team in the sport was coached by Bob Knight so something they were doing at Indiana must’ve worked. I hate Dakich too, but that’s sort of the whole point.

Knight must've gotten fucked in the head right around 1993 because, after that, he couldn't do shit. People bitch and debate about Miles Brand not liking him, how unfair his zero-tolerance policy was, and he was set up to be fired. They can't do that to a coach that is running a great program, that's the armor against all that crap. Knight utterly quit producing in 1994, that was his actual downfall. His last 7 seasons at IU, he never got past the 2nd round of the national tournament. No matter what kind of animosity or whatever nefarious plots Brand had against, it wouldn't have mattered in the slightest if Knight was producing like he was supposed to. Him having a job there for his last 7 seasons was an act of charity. He only stayed that long because of who he is. It's the reality of sports at that level. If you're not winning games and keeping your program on the map, you're gone. Post-1994, IU wasn't in the news for winning championships and setting records, they were in the news because Knight was finding new and interesting ways to be a PR nightmare. If your program stops producing like it should AND you're a total joke in the media, your days are numbered and it doesn't matter who you are. The first 2/3 of Knight's career was sterling. His last 1/3 was a joke and it's all on him. When people gush about him being a legend, they're looking at his career minus his last 14 years where he didn't do shit on the court and was a constant joke in the media. The groupies are real good at forgetting about that.

The term “Narcissism” is quickly becoming the trendy word that allows us to ironically blame things on others or appear morally superior when someone else behaves in ways we don’t like, even when we are sometimes hypocritical. It’s couch therapy speak that millennials have seemed to latch onto to explain or scapegoat anything they deem as detrimental to them it seems to me. Human beings are going to look out for themselves? No, really? They are selfish? Whoa...what a revelation, you know? I’m finding that the same people that throw this term around so liberally onto ppl they don’t like often seem to be the ones that exhibit this nature the most. I imagine that’s probably a key trait in narcissism? Not being able to see your own role in how others treat you, etc.

Bowling Green record under Dakich: Jim Larranaga left Dakich 4 Juniors, a Soph & Sr (off his 22-10 team. DD 1st year (with 6 of Top 8 players returning) was 10-16. Next 2 years were good. 40-18. Then 15-14, 24-9, 13-16, 14-17, 18-11, 9-21 & 13-18. If you are counting, that's 67-83 his last 5 years. Average of 13-18...for 5 years. Great storyteller, though

Granted, that is an abhorrent comment. But you took the comment out of context. There are politicians, some with presidential aspirations who have made similar comments about rape. Rick Santorum said in 2012 that "Rape victims should make the best of a bad situation". Richard Murdock of Indiana said "Even when life begins in that horrible situation of rape IT IS SOMETHING GOD INTENDED TO HAPPEN. How nice, apparently God approves of rape. The list goes on and on. Bobby Knight never billed himself as anyone's diplomat. Now, to your comment, did you ignore the rest of Knight's comments during the interview to give the impression the coach was literally giving advice to women who are raped? The rest of his comment following that statement during his interview in 1988 with Connie Chung explaining how Knight handled stress continues: "That's just an old term that you're going to use. The plane's down, so you have no control over it. I'M NOT TALKING ABOUT THAT, ABOUT THE ACT OF RAPE. DON'T MISINTERPRET ME THERE. But what I'm talking about is, something happens to you, so you have to handle it-now".
So like many others who have used regrettable parallels, Knight did so too. But you intentionally made the comment far worse by setting it out alone, even excluding Knight's attempt to clean up the mess he created. Let that sink in.
