- So the Breakers Collection featuring Breakers and Breakers Revenge is now out in the wild! The collection is a compilation of both games, plus tons of modern features added such as a training mode with tons of options including fun stuff like hitbox display, and online that has yes, rollback netcode, and YES, Crossplay! So lets dig in to whats all in the breakers collection and go from there!

So the Breakers Collection launches today on a whole bunch of platforms. One of the best things is no matter the platform on top of the Rollback netcode, you got CROSSPLAY! So yeah Breakers, Specifically Breakers Revenge is a classic 90s fighter. If you are younger you may not have heard of it, but its one of the most fun fighters to come out the 90s. Is it a bit derivative of Street Fighter? hoo you betcha lol, but its still very much its own thing and I think its worth your time to learn about it, so why not have a watch of the video!

@@angelganon8213 Its a style of how online play is done. Long story short its the only reasonable way to play fighting games online due to how precise and fast everything needs to be compared to a normal game. Sadly it took us a very long time for it to become normal for fighting games.

Dude ya gotta add me on the switch. I only got this for my switch right now haven't bought it for the xbox yet. My gut is ganjasaurusrex. No one plays the og classic fighters or beat em ups online it's so hard to find a match. Especially in street fighter 30th anniversary I got that day one release. The online is deader than Robin Williams. It's not even funny

So it's not as absolutely dead as I thought but still absolutely dead there is like 6 ppl I keep running into. 🤣 Some people just ain't into the whole retro fighter thing. A lot of those people bash street fighter yet praise mortal Kombat which is hilarious considering mk was an answer to street fighter 2s popularity. And both are OG fighters. 🤷 What really let me down about breakers revenge is that it's literally the same game as breakers just with just one character added. So them releasing this in a two game compilation like your getting a bang for your buck your basically buying an og fighting game (a good ass one) for 20$ which in this time of day Ii don't care collectors value is a fuckin scam. It should of been 10$ or 15$ me and the kids are getting a good kick out of playing it
Had this for a bit, but wanted to wait for launch day so I could make sure I could get some online games in first before I finished the video, to make sure the online play is legit. Thankfully it is, and thank god for the crossplay. Only one issue right now is specifically the PS5 version, does not accept the use of PS4 sticks which it should. DnF Duel had the exact same problem until it got patched out, but other than that its basically you could ever hope for in a collection like this so thumbs up!

This game was so underrated. I love how this was the only Street Fighter alternative in my Neo Geo library. They even nailed the impact sfx

I love this game! It had such a “Saturday morning cartoon” vibe too it 😂. Definitely getting this!
when people talk about hidden gems in fighting games, THIS is the game that inmediatly comes to my mind. I'd like to play against more people on Fightcade at least.
I think the benefit of picking this up is you got a robust training mode and hopefully has a big player base with the crossplay. I'm glad it's on fightcade for preservation purposes but I think it's worth paying these guys for the effort they put in if you are a fan of the game. I still hope they put out rage of the dragons.
I would mention some more old and wronged fighting games like: Rage of the Dragons, Double Dragon (NeoGeo), Ninja Masters, Power Instinct (the whole franchise) and Martial Masters.
Do the original developers get something for it?

@@rooflemonger Back then I was just evolving past being a button mashing kid. I figured out quarter circles and dp's. I won a few games. I played Deathscythe. What was that client called? Zbattle? Ran it with Zsnes. Good times.
Found out about this game on MAME years ago and love it! Happy that's it's finally getting the love that it deserves and being re-released to the public. I have it via emulation, but I'll still buy this on Steam just to show my support!
Getting some World Heroes vibes from this one
Breakers is a "better" game than world heroes, but world heroes remains shining in my heart for how stupid it is lol
@@rooflemonger World Heroes and Breakers have different jank. I'd argue all world heroes characters are viable due to their unique jank. Breakers has some interesting systems but you really need to learn what is breakerable so you don't eat huge reversals, I'm also almost certain damage rubber bands a little in favor of the losing player. Really in the end they're different games for different player types.

Thanks for highlighting this gem. I mained Condor and played a little Rila on the side, super fun.
Tia from this game always stuck out to me cause while heavily influenced by Chun-Li she has moves from other characters as well while being more Shoto than her inspiration thus making her interesting to play. Breakers in general is a lot more solid than you'd assume from a SF clone and glad its got these ports.
I hope this collection does well.
It's gonna be tough when going up against the Fightcade version, but the good quality should win over some folk.
Got the PS4(also on PS5 and switch) limited run. Waiting for it to mail out. Crossplay is huge because that increases the chance of having a playerbase online

For training mode, Input and damage displays are a given, no frame data display, but being able seeing the hitboxes and hurtboxes are nice! Also is there a dummy record feature in here, or not really?
Dummy record is there, just a bit inelegant comppared to some modern fighters

One of the best fighting games ✌
Messed around with this on fightcade years ago. It’s definitely a fun game to mess around with. And the best part is the inputs for specials and combos don’t have that strict timing window like most 90s 2D fighters

Edit: came back to say I have the arcade mode set to easy and can’t get passed the 5th fight lol it STILL input reads your every move. Oh well 😅
Use Sho I think his name is. He has a fire kick that you can do that I kept doing on the final boss and it works. I have only been able to beat it with him.

Really excited to get into this collection! I did preorder the physical edition from Strictly Limited Games and honestly I have no idea when they plan on shipping this to us. If anybody else has ordered this physical release and knows when we are planned to receive this let me know!
Same. Saw limited run wasn't doing it and was bummed cause I wanted a physical copy. Then I discovered strictly limited and am very happy to get this. Wanna show my friends this beaut and bring it to their places.

played Breakers Revenge at some dingy-ass arcade back in Manila in the early 2000s
I played the game on emulator back in early 2000s glad to see is coming back and for new players to enjoy
Anyone else having button config issues? I'm playing on a PS5 pad and I set both punches and both kicks to shoulder buttons, and after connecting with either of them it disables random face buttons. I have to close the game completely to fix it. Am I overlooking something or is this some sort of bug?

Whenever I play this hot blanka has my attention and I do like the character animations this game has. Also yea the 90's was something especially with its awful clothing styles. Though media has squeezed the 80's stuff dry so the 90's will be getting its turn.

Great video, as always. This is certainly a buy for me. Bummer about the PS5 version not able to use PS4 sticks. Hope they fix that quickly. Them's Fighting Herds had the same issue.

Rooflemonger nice video my boy really. I'm a hardcore gamer that was born in the 198x the era of street fighter clones and I never heard of this game. Neo Geo/SNK was capcom biggest rivals when it came to fighting games back in the days and while SNK had millions of fighting games with interesting characters and concepts the gameplay in their fighting games weren't that great when compared to capcom fighting games. They always lacked in AI with some balancing issues as well and I hated how all of their fighting games had the same graphics. You would always know it's an SNK game due to the weird looking characters and same graphics aren't style.
I can honestly say Breakers looks a very good game with great gameplay and I think I may pick this one up, physically too. The characters though besides the good looking gameplay looks weird to me and my biggest gripe is why is there only one woman in the whole game? I don't really like that.

Breakers collection is really good port also make another fighter that was released recently hurt more due to how barebone the port was and it Rumble Fish 2

This game looks pretty cool. Thanks for the heads-up . Especially with regard to cross play. Makes it even harder for bigger games to excuse not having it in their games, which is great.

Ehh, this won't be better then fightcades online experience because of runahead. The training and lobby system is great though.
This game was a let down as it's a port of the arcade version so playing on easy is still hard as hell 😢.

Was thinking of getting this on XBS but in honesty it looks rather graphically dated! The backgrounds look bland, lifeless and washed-out. The characters look pixelated and blocky. The animation looks like it has animation is decent at best.. They really should have updated the animation,. FPS, graphics and even sound esp for 2023.

Nope! I played then applied and got a got a refund from MS. They game looks dated. A majority of the backgrounds look flat and bland. The animation is okish but dated. The only thing I found decent on XBS is the 60fps.
