Having a conflict here with google. I already learned the words for "waist".... which are талия, шкафут, таз,еtc. According to google, "пояса" is closer to belt, sash, corset. Just "waistband" is close. Which is right?
There are two meanings of the word 'пояс'. Пояс as belt (ремень) and пояс as waist (область талии). In the video context, 'до по́яса' meaning is 'to waist'. But google has understand your message as 'пояса́', which means 'belts', because пояса́ is the plural form for пояс as belt.
