- S3 Ep4 - Onboard the Taits. In This Episode, we travel to Newport early in the morning to catch the newly refurbished tait train (also known as red rattlers) for it's journey to Glen Waverley. After we arrived in Glen Waverley, the team also chased the remaining shuttles on foot along the line back towards Darling, finishing the day back in Flinders Street. All this and much more coming in this episode of 'Down the Line'.
Thanks for Watching, we really hope you enjoy it!

How dopey was I that day?! lol
Hahaha it was an early start that day wasn't it lucky I live close by
Another great video mate!
Thanks again!
Your videos are getting better as you gain experience Lucas. Errr, by the way, you were in my territory there at Syndal. I've been there just on 44 years now. Now it was good to see you had great company on your ride with young Dom and I see you got him again at the pedestrian crossing during your Holmesglen sequence. He and I both got a similar bridge shot to yours adjacent the Route 703 Bus Stop at Syndal.
Interesting fact for you; both Jordanville bank and Syndal bank are 1 in 30 grades, similar to the former narrow gauge grade between Upper Fern Tree Gully and Upwey and many of the current skyrail ramps around the network.
More interesting facts;-
1. I was out and about both morning and afternoon that day. First time ever I've been railfanning and been able to go home for lunch then return for more fun.
2. I rode the Taits and "Doggies" for many years in my younger days. My first ever visit to the Glen Waverley line (well before I ever dreamed of living in Syndal) was way back in 1965 on a 2 car M and D Tait set and I was in awe of the traction motors grinding their way up Jordanville bank on the way out, also on the climb out of Syndal in both directions on the two legs of Syndal bank while listening to Petula Clark singing "Don't sleep in the subway, Darling" on my transistor radio. Ah, those were the days! Enough from this old f..t. Keep up the good work and hope to catch up with you in person sometime soon Down The Line.
😀😀😀
East Richmond doesn't exist. Lol
Thanks Lucas for the video I enjoyed it
Enjoyed the video as always. There were some really nice shots in this video and some good locations as well. I hope to ride the Tait one day.
Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it! It was a really great service to ride, you should definitely catch it one time!
I enjoyed that day, but this video and the editing is awesome
Very glad you enjoyed the video, thanks for the comment!
Excellent video. I was there through all 7 shuttle services that day. Fond memories of the red rattler used to ride when I was a kid back in the day.
