in the end it was a disused catenary pole that had been left within the loading gauge of the track and hadn't been removed since it was put out of use, the carriage unfortunately just happened to sway in the wrong direction at the wrong time and scrape the pole. Metro have barred anything (with the exception of X'Traps) from going up to Belgrave most likely until they remove it
"Salvage the rest of the day". The Dandenongs in the rain is at its best. The scenery is well worth the walk not something to be tolerated while getting photos. For me I can also remember taking Puffing Billy along this stretch and I can manage to see it again in my mind.
In the days of Steam there were no broad gauge steam trains going up to Belgrave, but my Step Uncle used to go to Upper FTG at 4 am to light the fires of the Narrow Gauge engines (Puffing Billy) when it was the scheduled train in the early Fifties (maybe even earlier). I also remember being at Bayswater Station watching them load D3 666 onto the load loader to take it to the Park in Bayswater. Sadly I live to far from Melbourne (Darwin) these days to visit to watch the Taits and the K's. So thanks for the nostalgia!
I have subscribe to your channel and really like your video presentation I'm just starting out at the moment so things might look a bit professional like u lol. Keep up the great work I really like it

Which might not happen because management got a report and the cost was too high, or something...
A very good example of why disused/permanently out of service infrastructure should be removed!
Wow, That's a great video. I will always cheer for you in Korea I'm looking forward to a great video. Have a nice day.
Unfortunate but i like the way you make the best of the situation and inform . Excellent stuff
Did not know Belgrave line become a single track.

Thanks heaps! The day certainly didn't go to plan, but it was still worth while! Hopefully Steamrail returns to Belgrave in the near future.
Why is sudden craze of steam rail, Australian railway is going through some kind of jubilee year or plans to attract tourists from overseas?
