    Happy New Year!!! I have written down chunks of review to do each day while I’m on vaca too because frankly I just can’t help myself. I also made sure I ordered my syllabi at 1st sight of my schedule when it dropped. I was so lucky because they showed up snail mail literally a few days before Christmas. I have already tabbed out all of my readings & rough drafted my calendar. I get a big desk calendar & write everything in different colors. I tried the planner, but I just can’t do it because I have to have 3 schedules all written in the same place so I can keep track of myself, my son, & my fiancé. 🤣 I was a tad disappointed I couldn’t decorate it as much as I had hoped, but that’s okay. I do at least print out pretty cover photos to organize my binders. ❤️

      Michelle you sound so prepared! Writing down your schedule and being organized is going to be so helpful for you. But I am totally the same way.. I may be on vacation, but I get bored and feel like I should be doing something productive with school 😂

      Kiomy1993 I normally do virtual mass on Sundays, but I feel like I need to dive in and actually study the bible, you know? If you have any tips on how to study the bible please let me know 😊

    • @kabrantecolon
      @kabrantecolon 3 года назад

      Well idk whether you’re catholic or Pentecostal lol but I’m Pentecostal so I think our beliefs are a bit different if that’s the case BUT..I read the Bible everyday (try to) one or 2 chapters a day. Once I read I reflect..I have this journal that helps me explain the verse, what I learned and how I can apply it to my life. But before I read I ALWAYS pray so that God can give me discernment and understanding of what I’m about to read. Another thing people use to read the Bible is the SOAP method! “SOAP” - a verse or passage of Scripture, your Observations about it, the Application the verse(s) have to your life, and a Prayer.
      I hope this helps you on your spiritual journey gel! God bless you 😊

    • @KristenWaldorf
      @KristenWaldorf  3 года назад +1

      Kiomy1993 Wow thank you for this! This is so helpful. I didn’t realize there was a whole method to studying scriptures. I will definitely have to try this and maybe find a journal like yours. That would help break down the meaning for me because I’m not the strongest at interpreting text. My whole family is Catholic, but I was never baptized. I grew up going to church and I feel like getting baptized is something I want to work my way up too eventually.

    Happy New Year! I have no doubt that you'll pass the nclex-rn.
    I am dreading med-surg...I already have the Saunders book, I got med-surg success, pearson rationales and reviews for med-surg and the Kaplan comprehensive review....I know too much resources...I'm not planning to read the brunner and suddarth textbook word for word. I'm going into my 4th semester and want to start nclex-rn prep too.
    On the tabbed Bible, YESSSS!!! I got one for new year's, it's a 2-in-1 Bible and a coloring book...I need a way to de-stress.
    Good luck on med-surg 2!! 🙏 All the very best!

    • @KristenWaldorf
      @KristenWaldorf  3 года назад +1

      Aries Empress Yes girl, I love the coloring book idea! I’m sure that is going to be a great stress reliever 🙂 Oh have you heard if the pearson rationales and review are good? I haven’t used that resource yet. I also do have the med surg success, which I used for med surg 1 too. And we have the Lewis textbook, which is great but way toooooo dense!

    • @theheartmekanik
      @theheartmekanik 3 года назад

      @@KristenWaldorf I get stressed very easily, I bite my fingernails until my fingers hurt. To answer your question, the pearson review is awesome it's similar to the ATI book to a great extent...if used together, I think the result would be amazing given that each one seems to make up for what the other is lacking. We are recommended Brunner and Suddarth’s but I'm not buying it lol...I found the ebook free as well as the Lewis's medical-surgical book so that's settled. I feel like the Lewis book is better than B&S after comparing some of the chapters.

    • @KristenWaldorf
      @KristenWaldorf  3 года назад +1

      Aries Empress I have to agree with you on the Lewis book being a great resource. I just get lost with all the content 😂 Okay I will have to check it out then, thank you!! I’m trying to master as much med surg as I can this time around so I can take my NCLEX as fast as I can after I graduate. I personally just want to start my career and work work work haha. And I use to bite my nails up until high school. I use to get embarrassed by always having my fingers in my mouth and I switched to picking at my hair.. Which wasn’t a super healthy habit either. Recently I found that a fidget cube has been actually super helpful when I feel nervous before exams and helps to calm me down! But I know this technique might not be helpful to others. I can tell though my nails break so easily from always chewing on them, so my nails are always pretty short now.

    • @theheartmekanik
      @theheartmekanik 3 года назад

      @@KristenWaldorf You're right about the Lewis book. Do what you can and let God take care of the rest. You'll definitely knock out the nclex-rn, no doubt. The figet cube doesn't help me much, so I'm trying coloring.
      And if you don't already know, there are free evolve resources such as practice questions and concept map maker that you can utilize.

    How many weeks ahead do you do your notes? I’m about to start my first semester of nursing school and completed 5 chapters of reading and notes for fundamentals. I think that’s only one weeks worth though lol sooooo now i’m thinking I might want to jump ahead to week two as well??? Just don’t want to get too far ahead of myself! Happy new year

    • @KristenWaldorf
      @KristenWaldorf  3 года назад +1

      Wow you are already so prepared! I actually normally do my notes the day of lecture and a couple days after lecture. Normally my notes/study guides are done one week before my exam. This is actually the first time I am studying before the semester starts because I only had a two week break in between my other semesters and I took that time for myself and to recharge. I would say do what you feel comfortable with. If you want to continue with your notes, it won’t hurt to get ahead! But if you don’t want to study, you’ll have plenty of time when your in school too 🙂
