I agree. Trevor Noah is such a consummate interviewer. He is not a journalist, was not a professional "talk show" host.. Yet, he is so gifted as an interviewer you forget he started in "stand up" comedy b/c he aces whatever challenges he takes on. #SouthAfrica had no idea of what "stand up" comedy was back then, but they sure do now! Trevor has shined a light on so many topics that have stumped & troubled most #Americans b4, during & post-triple (economic, covid, -isms esp. racism, sexism, etc.) pandemic. 😁 No matter what he does in life.. I am a #ForeverFan & just in awe of his many, many talents. The man is a comic genius! His humility, grace & natural curiosity abt the world all around him has helped us SEE with so much clarity. I am really going to miss him doing #TheDailyShow but he's on a Space Rocket to inspire us all even more. Happy Halloween Everybody! ✌🏾🎃🎉

Been crushing on Diane Kruger since Troy, Joyeux Noël and Inglourious Basterds. She's multilingual and she's a fine actress. Looking forward to all her future projects!
I sat in the audience for this interview, and am glad I got to see the full thing! I wish the rest of it would have ended up on the show and be posted here.
Awwww that was so cute! When she explained about having to go on the book tour and what she said about "don't sell my book it's my story" 😍😍😍😍😍😍 its these moments that make me think yes children are a blessing and we should treat them as such. And show that love
After listening to Diane Kruger I have to get her book for my grandkids. My kids were treated with the same beliefs she has but then it was the 60,s and I was considered a very BAD Mama! All my 5 children became happy artists ! :) .
:43 Oh, I felt that! I'm American but speak Swedish (lived in Sthlm for 10 years) and I feel like a different person when I speak it. More thoughtful. More open. How lovely! Planning to move to Spain next year...now I'm more excited to become conversational in Spanish and discover how it makes me feel.
Maybe it's a German thing to trust your kids and at such a young age trust them and send them out into the world? When I was 16 my parents let me go to Rome alone to see a boy I had fallen in love with. They say they knew I'd be fine and that they trusted me. And everything did go fine. My children grow up in Greece and parents here don't trust their kids that way. Education is very different here. While in Germany parenting is much focused on teaching kids to be autonomous, Greeks love to pamper their kids. I'm doing a mix of both, because I think it's important to be autonomous, but it's also really nice to be showered with love 😁
I've watched Diane with several other talk show hosts and this is so different and much better. She's smart and he goes after that rather than her looks.
She is German - I saw her on a German game show - "Klein gegen Grosse" (small kids challenges adults) this past week. It's normal for Europeans to speak at least two languages - it's no big deal. My best friend speaks French, Polish, German and English fluently.
To be honest i really love what you said, about kids. They all special in a different, kids is kids they have different ability to show. One more thing what you said a trust, i am glad that my parents trust me☺️ only one thing i make my father disappointed is stop school at very young age 🥺. Kids our parents is the best teacher and the best guider to us for being better in our life. Respect and love them🙏💖. Respect and appreciation you both 🙏💖
A Mother who thinks every child is perfect (but sees & accepts their imperfections) & wants to give them "wings" is a special parent/guardian indeed. Lovely womyn. ✌🏾🎃

Oh did anyone notice they seem to have removed old episodes from the daily show RUclips? And now they're selling the seasons. A lil sad because i low key had a plan to go watch all the interviews i missed from ever. 😢
That’s fascinating what she said about being sweeter in French and more direct in German. I only saw her in one French film, but I would not call Marie Antoinette sweet. Lol
I agree with her points completely, that kids should be able to dream, be loved, enjoy being children, and trusted by parents when raising them; but at the same time it’d have been nicer if she emphasised a little more on the merits and responsibility of growing up. The problem with today’s society you have parents that tells their kids, “oh you’re special, oh you can be anything you want to be” without preparing them for the reality of the world and focusing more on “giving back” to society. This is where today you’ve many adult teens/young adults that think they can do anything they want without giving any thoughts to others.
This is a very interesting interview right away cuz I didn't know about her she starred in German films French films and English films that's amazing very diverse
As a fellow german i am a bit confused about that whole "Diane is not that common" thing. It is more of an old womens Name, but it's quite common. My coworker is called Diane. Maybe it's not that common in her Region of Germany, don't know.
I am am German too, and from the same area like Diane Krüger. In my broad friendship circles and among my old school mates there is not one single Diana or Diane. Just looked it up out of interest and my gut feeling was right: I associate the name somehow with old aristocracy and a fantastic silk dress (Diane von Fürstenberg). Okay, here the stats: The stat shows that at least the preferences for DianA went up and down having a high at 1981 when Diana Spencer entered the scene. And DianE is really seldom, in average only ten kids per year in whole Germany; in 12 recent years there were only 130 DianEs (compared to 6300 Dianas). So, yes: Diane was really seldom. At least until Diane Krüger entered the scene. 😁
When Troy introduced me to Diane, I remember saying: "Wow, that's an insanely gorgeous woman". Then Inglourious Basterds came and I remember saying: "Wow, that's an insanely talented and gorgeous woman". 😍
Whyyyyy just why all these interviews are so short? Please do extended ones and upload it on RUclips. I don’t care the send timing for cc. I need mooooore 🤩
At 5.23 it is funny how when he says " Ni khensa ngopfu" (Xitsonga) the transcript says [non-English] as if Merci (French), Gracias (Spanish), Danke schön (German), Siyabonga (isiZulu) were all English 🤣🤣🤣. I guess Tsonga people can still gossip in relative peace in these streets 🤭
Thx for the transcription! Now learned 'thanks' in two more languages! At least I hope it is that and not again some funny insider Xitsonga- or IsiZulu-jokes 😆
@@karenannaluisa3370 It seems like we are too late, someone just pointed to me that we can no longer use Tsonga or Zulu for inside jokes 😂. Google translate is ahead of us on that front when it comes translation of these two languages 🤦🏽♂️
She has an intelligent look about her, if there is such a thing. First time i saw her in Troy, its what i noticed, that shes not just all about looks. Sharon Stone has it too. Maybe they look alike.
😌 As the _language_ she's using changes, so changes her _personality._ _Oh,_ that's awesome. How practical is it to teach fluency in multiple languages in the public schools in this country? I mean _all_ of them, from _one_ coast to the _other._
Diane is definitely a name from an older generation of Germans. I have a friend of German lineage in her late 50's (so older than Kruger) who's name is... wait for it... DIANA. known her for over 40 years.
I always tell new parents before picking a name... Go out into a field and shout the name 5 times in a row at the top of your lungs. if it feels comfortable - then it's the right name.
Greetings from Germany, bir there are a lot of Dianas round here. Well, in a certain Generation. All born in the 1970ies,1960ies. Today, the name hss gotten rare, but people just a few years aboth my age (36) arw quite often named Diana. I personally know at least 8 of them. And I lin a very rural part of Thüringen.
I think it's a regional thing. I'm from Munich and I'm exactly her age and growing up I didn't ever come across the name Diana. I only knew the British princess with that name.
Diane Kruger is one of that fallen angels/ demons that got kick out from heaven for their rebellion. A lot of them are in this generation ( celebrities, politicians, scientists) Lord Jesus Christ is coming soon 🙏🏼❤️🕊REPENT, believe in the Gospel, Be Born Again
I am glad that she's talking about this and I think more people should do the same when you're not comfortable about your name. I remember I used to feel that way every time people would mispronounce my last name. So it's Milord but some would pronounce it Milford or Millard and I was like "no no no that's not it" then I looked at the meaning and I was like If only they knew. It apparently means an English nobleman. So it's like my lord my lady
I love and respect Trevor's enormous intelligence and talent and what he has given us over the years, but I get so tired of characterizations of what is supposedly German. He of all people should know better. The actress played along....she has to for an American production.
I don't know, if Trevor can distinguish Switzerland from Germany, but he knows more about Germans than most... But I'm sure, Diane was thrown out of school for missing too many lectures, not for the act of modelling!
This was a wonderful opportunity to really learn about...white privilege. How does this actress feel perfectly qualified to tell the world how to parent, to put her individualist viewpoint out into a book to make even more money than she already has? Just ignore all of the lessons that people of other cultures have passed along about naming a child, helping them identify their paths, being unique, etc. You can say "It's just a kid's book," but as an educator I know hundreds of powerful books that literally help change the world for children and families but will take a backseat in the publishing houses because THIS one is by a CELEBRITY. How many families "relate" to traveling back and forth across several countries at age 15? Not remotely something most children will ever relate to.
Is it white privilege or celebrity privilege? I'm pretty sure if I, a white person would try to publish the same book in the US, it would not get published, but if Halle Berry or Michelle Obama would have written it, it would get published. White privilege exists, but I don't think it applies here. I think here it's celebrity privilege, which is another thing.
Wow, i feel extremely sorry for you. You must be so very sad and angry. I hope you will find peace in Life. Really worrisome that you're an educator though, with all that toxicity, envy and anger.
