    I hope you guys enjoy today's fun POV photoshoot behind the scenes all in natural light. I set a 10 minute timer and we see how many different photos we can get in that short window of time (also a few extra photos after because I forgot I brought some flowers to use for this lol please forgive me :P)
    I also did a POV street photography video with the Sony A7sIII + GM 135mm f1.8: • POV Night Street Photo...

    Hi Julia, I'm assuming you're using eye autofocus for these as they're all shot at F1.8. Also when the model spins does the autofocus eye point change to a box focusing on her head and then catching her eye again as she completes the spin? Last do you like the A7c to recommend it as a primary full frame camera? Thanks for your creative vids!

    • @juliatrotti
      @juliatrotti  3 года назад +1

      I really loved it! I’m used to a 50mm focal length since that’s a prime I’ve always had in my camera bag.. and even though it’s only a 5mm difference I say it on location in this video at some point that I’m constantly in the wrong spot for the composition I’m picturing in my head lol. So I constantly had to take a couple of steps forward/backwards. But aside from that it’s a great all rounder focal length!

    • @juliatrotti
      @juliatrotti  3 года назад +11

      I had just over 500 images that I took. The number was mostly bumped up with those movement shots but they are really easy to go through when culling. I usually flick through those spinning/walking ones really quickly as it's easy to see when the skirt/face/hair were all captured in the right moment. There are so many uncontrollable variables with shots like that so I prefer to just shoot some extra on location to make sure I have it!

    Hey Julia! I have recently discovered your channel and really like the style of your videos! As someone who also uses prime lenses only, I find it impossible to keep the sensor clean (with all the lens swapping going on). Since I shoot wide open most of the time, this doesn't bother me much, but I'd like to hear your thoughts on this. I know some people are really OCD about it. Maybe you could do a video on equipment maintenance?

      Thank you so much! I actually filmed a little camera cleaning segment for a vlog I’m currently working on, I’ll be uploading that in the next few weeks. But I basically clean my cameras every time they start getting dirty, especially before a client shoot or wedding. Sometimes that can be every week and sometimes just once a month - depends on how dirty it ends up getting from previous shoots!

    What makes you ask for certain things in the pose/composition (for example, lift the skirt to see the knee)? It's the kind of thing I wouldn't really notice or think of, does it come with experience? Or are you always analysing the whole scene and noticing things like that consciously?

    • @juliatrotti

      Probably a bit of both, experience and analysing the scene to see if there’s anything we can add/take away/do different to make it look better! I’ve picked up lots of little tips and things to look out for with outfits from working with stylists over the years :)

    I was never a fan of that lens. The flaring is really bad so the images always have the washed out sections when backlit. I see it in quite a few of the photos. I've also thought the photos just look a bit gray before they are edited and I see that here as well.

    • @juliatrotti
      @juliatrotti  3 года назад +2

      I agree the flaring is quite a lot - I personally like lens flares for creative portrait shoots. I ended up editing 2 photos in this shoot, one where the lens flare was completely covering her face and then a second one in the same spot where I moved and you can see her face. I thought they looked quite nice together. But if I were to use this lens for a wedding or something I would be pretty annoyed with those flares lol. Also interesting you mentioned the colours, I uploaded a Zeiss 50 vs Zeiss 55 video a couple of weeks ago and in that location mixed with brighter lighting the 55 had nicer SOOC colours than the 50 which was pretty dull/washed out. So the before photos could look like that because of the location/lighting in this particular park.

    • @NickDelDuca
      @NickDelDuca 3 года назад

      @@juliatrotti interesting that the 55 is better for colors than the more expensive lens. I was comparing it to my sigma art lenses and I think the Sigmas look much better SOOC. I definitely see the slight gray in your samples but they always edit out pretty well. I think the concave front element that the zeiss lenses have are what causes that flaring characteristic. Definitely agree good for creative shoots but not professional work.
