Dear Andrew I love your content. I see positive responses following your advice. I have a question on this topic though - what should be the subject for this kind of email. Because I think the subject line will play a deciding factor if a busy professional is going to open my email. Thanks for your answer in advance.
Hi Andy, just wanted to send out a huge thank you. I started watching your RUclips channel about 15 months ago and from all your videos and advice I’ve gained from you has been so helpful. I’ve completely changed my resume and cover letters and developed my LinkedIn page. Armed with all this I targeted the company I wanted to work for and over the course of this summer I was able to get a job with them. I had a 30 min interview in which lead me to a second interview 85 minutes wow longest interview of my life. They contacted me the next day with a job offer. I accepted and stat training with them on Aug 3rd. This was also a career change for me. Leaving the Airline customer service for customer service with Insurance. Still customer service but different industry. Thanks so much Andy. I could not have done this looking back at just the difference in my old resume and my new one makes me laugh. Also all the coaching to help prep me for the interviews. Rob
Thank you, Andrew. I wrote a letter to get an informational interview about the job I am pursuing. I sent it today and have a zoom meeting tomorrow. Slow and small steps leads to huge progress. She is a friend of my daughter's. I got her and someone else mixed up and she wants to talk to me anyway. Praise the Lord. You say more detail is better and this is how to get it. Thank you. 🙂
1. Who you are? (Name, your description, relationship-connection anything that ties you or reference you) 2. Why you chose them? (Shows the message is tailored) 3. What you want? (I am contacting you because, i was hoping you can help me with, etc) 4. You did your homework (i was looking at, and noticed, etc and led it to you, words that linking message between you and them. I am sending you this one of kind message hoping YOU get back to me) 5. What you offer (compliment, network, median of employee referral, skill) 6. You are grateful! (Thankful for their time, consideration, effort) 7. What is the next step! (More narrow the better. I need your thoughts on, I need your referral to, I need to know if you worked at the company if you know someone in that organization that I can speak to, etc)
This is a life saver! Thanks again, Andrew! Having just closed my gym after 8 years Ive found that finding a job comes with many roadblocks. Especially when I haven't had to look for a job over the past 15 years. Wow. Trying to figure out how to communicate too cold, warm or hot potential job connections has been a major roadblock. Your 5 sentence cover letter helped me get my last job but that was short lived due to the Covid. Im back at it again and your content is really helping me move forward one small step at a time. Cheers
This was fantastic Andrew. Love the points on on making a personalised connection in your introduction and tailoring your message to the prospective employer. Great value
Super useful! I would take notes of every of your word, then follow all your instructions. Haha, only regret one thing:why I just find your videos? But, it is never too late. Would keep focusing on learning your videos👏
You're the best Andy, seriously. Although I haven't received any offers yet from my interviews (sad to say), at least I have a better grasp of what and how to say certain things during the interviews. Without you I would still be stuck in the "uh, um, ok" stage with the employer. Thanks!
Folks, hope you enjoyed this! Lemme know what you need and make sure to SUB so you get the new videos weekly and can be alerted for the Tuesday and Thursday live shows!
Andy love the content and wanted to say that it has been extremely helpful in my job search. I sent out the boss hunting letter out 4 times and got 1 interview, 25% success rate! Can you talk about email subject lines when using the boss hunting technique. I think this would be really helpful to many. Thank You and much love from LA!
Today I connected with someone who works in the same industry as I do. We met through a Facebook group with similar interests and he lives in an area I’m wanting to move to. So I sent him a short video message in Facebook messenger after sending him a friend request. He got back to me later in the evening with his own video message and gave me some names to reach out to and said he’s going to pass my info to a guy at his work place and try to connect me with him. I know some people may not be comfortable on camera but if you do it and follow the steps you talk about then it can really improve the chances of getting a response that many times more. There’s a free extension for Google Chrome called Soapbox by Wistia that lets you send video messages to people through email. It’s definitely worth taking the time to check it out. Very easy and simple to use.
Solid gold advice Andy - as always! Got so many great ideas from your talk and through the examples you gave. This helped take my message structure and approach to a whole different level. Huge thanks Andy, once again! Anu 🙏
Hi Andy, Thanks much for your great service! While doing the job search challenge, do we need for a LinkedIn premium membership? IF yes, please let me know on what are the benefits. Thanks much again.
Wow. You are amazing Andy. I love the details you give. I know I need to practice your golden advises. In your opinion: Is Networking online EASY or DIFFICULT, and How to Master it? Thank you so much for your time.
Emad, make sure to sub so you can get the alerts for my shows. And, I think networking online is easy when you know how to do it!! Check my job search networking videos!
@Emad AKarim Quite often the ease or difficulty depends on our mental state. If we approach networking with a positive mindset, it helps to make it easier. (Not easy!) 😉
Thank you so much for putting together this video. I was wondering if you recommend attaching my resume when sending my job search networking message or should I ask them if they want it?
Andrew LaCivita 1. I live in Big Cove Tannery a small farming community in Pennsylvania. 2. I’m actively job hunting and have a phone interview scheduled this morning.
Andrew LaCivita Good morning, Yes I believe the interview was beneficial for the organization and myself. I’ve had four interviews in the last eight days and I’m just realizing how exhausting it is. I’m not complaining because I’m grateful for the opportunities but it is very draining. Thank you for the asking. Make it a great day, Bryant
Hey Andy! I did exactly what you told me with (offering connections) and now I have a meeting with the HR, she didn't say it's an interview so should I take my CV and things in advance ?
Maitreyee, so nice to have you with us on the channel and glad you're enjoying it. We do have a boot camp special running right now. It's a self-paced program, which you can go through immediately and we also have a suite of live coaching every Friday for four weeks starting January 31st. For the very best results, it's smart to enroll, go through it so you can take in the lessons and then join the live shows. Here's the page and you can forward any of your questions should you have them to the support@milewalk.com email: www.milewalkacademy.com/andrew-lacivita-job-search-boot-camp. Hope you join the program!
What would be a good note to put in a connection request for someone who you worked with a long time ago but were more of an acquaintance? My intent of connecting with them is to expand my network if and when, down the road, they turn into a second connection into a job lead.
Larry, do me a favor so these don't get lost. I get thousands of comments on my channel and I try to answer as many as possible but I don't always get to them. Since you are a #BOOTCAMPER, can you put them in the system so I make sure to answer them. on this one, check the networking templates I gave you and adjust the tone based on the warmth of your acquaintanceship.
@Larry Cohen A good concise email message with an introduction (salutation and purpose), body (with necessary details), and concluding section with the specific action required should be good enough. This should be at least a 3-sentence ‘note’. 😉
I know this is an older video but this is a really big challenge for me. I need help but as a single mom, working three jobs just to get by doesn’t allow for me to spend the money for your program. I was wondering if you could recommend any free resources. Thank you for the help. I’m feeling like there’s hope after being laid off a Lear ago and applying to 2500 jobs, whomp, whomp:)
I have a few people I want to connect at other organizations with that I know through my current job. I am connected to both of them on LinkedIn but also have their email addresses. Is it appropriate to use their work emails or is it better to connect with them on LinkedIn?
Hi Andy. Do you have advice for those of us trying to reenter the workforce after being on disability? I was unable to work for two years. A recruiter told me she weeds out people with gaps in employment so I’m concerned no one will hire me.
Sir, the personalized message on LinkedIn has limited characters, so how is it possible for anyone to include all the points mentioned in this video? Please explain this point.
