    This is a great switch, I have had it for a year, no issues ever. The metal case is solid, and looks good. This switch just works, good quality product for the money. I use it in my little home theater.

      @@UltimateTechHub I have a TP Link router too... I use to use NetGear, they are junk in comparison. Love my TP link gear. They do something others cannot, they work. And so far, flawlessly. Knock on wood. ;-)

    Man you gotta watch out, the place behind the table is a mess and can cause fire easily especially during hot days while left on for long periods of time. Regarding the video itself, it's excellent and very informative. I bought the TP-Link Switch after watching this video. Thanks mate.

    One question, which port do you plug the Ethernet cord from the internet?

    Can I go router to switch to switch to device?
    For example, router is in hallway, plug into a switch, plug 1 of those connections to a remote room. In that remote room can I then plug that connection Into another switch and have 3/4 things connected back?

    This switch reduced the Internet speed to the two routers they are connected to, I have 3 tp link deco x20 and in the first level is the main one that gets the 250 mbps of the contract but in the second level the two routers only receive 90 mbps with this switch.

      You connected 2 routers to your switch? That's not the proper way to set up a network. It's always router to switch. Switch to router will not work.

      @@UltimateTechHub even if I connect only 1 router, which if I have tried, I still get the same speed of 90 mbps. I did a test in which I disconnected everything from the switch and only left the Internet cable and 1 router and it continued to give 90 mbps

      @@UltimateTechHub They are mesh wifi routers and in the router application they recommend doing it this way as I have it to connect 2 routers to the main router via ethernet.

      Yea not the only comment on here with the same issue, I've also had speeds limited by this switch, people didn't speed check their reviews.

    I have oneof these but need more ports. can I get another one,? patch it into the filled up one and get 7 more ports or should I get the 16 port switch which is more money I would like not to spend.

    Do i need both cables( router to switch and switch to pc) to be gigabit capable?? Or is it ok to use a basic cable from router to switch?

      Sorry guys I'm finding it hard to figure out how to install this. In this video you completely removed your router and replaced it with this. How is the switch getting internet if it's not connected to a internet router

    Quick question. Do you have to connect it to your router with an Ethernet cable or is it connected via Bluetooth?

      Ethernet cable like cat5e or cat6.

      @@Akhi_pali Yes. From a LAN port on your router to any port on the switch. I usually plug it in to the first port just for organizing my wires better.

      Quick question.. so basically 1 ethernet cable will be connected from router to switch which will supply the internet to switch in one of the slots and the remaining ports will be used to get internet out to the devices via ethernet cable correct ? I was trying to find where the " IN " and " OUT " are..

      No Qos in this switch. You need a managed switch for that. I have a few videos on managed switches.

      No that's too much data for a 1gig switch. Tp-Link makes 2.5 gig switches and 10gig as well. At a minimum use 2.5 switches and also what is your ISP max speeds and what router do you use?

    So My question with these is, I'm using a router to connect to my stuff but limited to 100Mbps. Will this help me reach my full speed that I have contracted with my ISP?

      No this will not improve your speeds. Your routers speed is determined by your ISP. The switch connects to the router and therefore the switch may get less speed than the router. But the speed of the switch is not noticeable its only minor difference.

      @@UltimateTechHub I should properly re-explain. My ISP provided modem is connected to a seperate router and my pc is connected to said router. My actual speeds are about 500mbps (more or less) and my router is limiting my speeds to 100.

    how many devices can I add? it seems to me that it should be 7 but i'm not sure. Can you advise?

      If the switch is 8 ports then you have 1 port needed for the connection to the router and then 7 ports on the switch are available. 5 port switch would be 4 ports available. 10 port would be 9 ports available. I recently uploaded some videos on switches some make sure to check them out.

    I bought the same TL-SG1008D. When power is plugged in, no LED light at the front panel. Does that mean the switch is faulty? my Intention was to replace the 5 port router with this switch as i hv now got a TP link Deco M4 mesh wifi system. Can someone assist?

      Mine has the green LED light when it's plugged in. Does the switch work? When devices are plugged in does it get a network connection?

    hey ultimate tech hub, give me some info if you want to.
    I have an older tp link switcher working fine, i connect only two devices with lan cables.
    a ps4 and a android tv box. My router gives the switcher a steady 100mbps connection.
    However both the ps4 and the tv box get each 90mbps steady of course. What is the reason i am having a 10mbps deficit on these devices?is it the switcher or something else?thanks for your time.

      The 90 mbps is pretty normal. You really don't need more than that for gaming or streaming movies. My PS5 gets the same 90 mbps amd i have 1gig fiber. I play call of duty cold War online and it plays perfectly. Hope this clears things up for you. Thanks for watching!!

    What is your seagate hdd used for in the media center? Curious of using my 4tb usb hdd which is just hooked to a pc and not being used as much as I thought.

    i have issue with this switch,i have a 500mbps internet speed from my ISP. Connection directly from router to laptop is 500mbps, but whenever i use this switch, it limits to 100mbps. I've tried buying two new cables for connection between Router>switch>laptop, but the problem still remains. I even tried both setting the duplex to auto configuration and also 1gbps configuration. Any idea how to solve this?

    i have the 5th port with my internet cable in but cant seem too find where i plug my voip phone in i have this ethernet switch that ur showing can you help please light's flashing but no dial tone

      You can connect both the PS4 and the PS5 with an ethernet cable to the switch. The switch needs to connect to a router to work.

    Can I connect this from my pc as the “router” by sharing the internet connection I have already wireless, then connect a ps4 to it etc, so from my main routher wirelessly to pc then lan cable to the swtich then cable to a ps4?

      No that won't work. It goes from Router to switch to devices.

      @@Wigglez69 Why isn't your PS4 connected using its own wifi? I've never plugged a switch into a PC ethernet port to share the wifi. It might work but it's no guarantee and the port connections may be very slow. Remember this switch uses MAC addresses to connect to other devices not IP addresses. You can give it a try and let ne know if it works.

    This is not really a switch, more like a fancy ethernet splitter. Regardless of the names, it is great. I have used two to wire up my house

    hello Ultimate Tech Hub, I am looking for 16 port ethernet Switch with LAN cable and power cord both behind the box. I don't know why they are many ethernet switch box with LAN cable in the front? I am use it for my Gaming and Home Theater room with ethernet switch LAN cable behind. I have my old ethernet switch port 5 with LAN cable behind that are full and I am looking online that I can find ethernet switch with port 16 LAN cable and power cord behind. can you help me?

      16 port switch is probably going to be a managed switch like CISCO. You can get a 10 port switch and daisy chain another 10 port switch to it. Just use a cross over cable to connect both switches. That's my best advice.

      @@UltimateTechHub I think I just found that I was looking for that is close enough to find another way ethernet port 16 that is attracts to the wall or behind my TV cabinet might be good enough. this is very close that I was looking for. NETGEAR 16-Port Gigabit Ethernet Smart Managed Plus Switch (GSS116E) check this out.

    hi i have a question is this a router itself or i have connect this to my router because my ps4 is downstairs and my router is upstairs and my ps4 lagges alot so will this help it if i connect my etherent to this

      You need to connect this to your router. Then from the switch connect to your PS4.

      @@pavishan9413 The only way to connect it is to run an ethernet cable from upstairs to down stairs. It is possible to do but you may want to hire a low voltage installer to help you run the ethernet so its either in the wall or its run along the baseboards.
