  • I’ve never owned an Apple iPad before and the new M4 13 inch pro was my first ever. I instantly felt buyers remorse and felt that it’s not very “pro” at all. My main issues are with the OS and Final Cut Pro being so limited and unable to seamlessly work with the Mac version. Here’s what I hate about the new Apple iPad Pro M4 and the things I love. Should I return it? Leave me a comment below

    That's why I didn't upgrade from my 2018 model. The A12X Bionic chip is more than powerful enough to watch videos, surf the web, emails and other light tasks. I don't need an even more powerful chip to do these same tasks. I'm also a designer, so if I use desktop apps, I have no choice but to use my Macbook instead.

    Return it, I bought the 2nd gen ipad pro not much has changed since then. if they fix the os and update the apps after wwdc you can always repurchase, but I sincerely doubt they will.

    Went from pro to iPad mini. I think you are right, it is a consumption device, note taker and travel companion so my iPhone can sit on a charger while I am on a plane or in a hotel.

    I got the 2018 iPad Pro 12.9 with keyboard and pencil 2. But never ended up using and sold after 3 years. Main thing was its huge size and didn't work out as a consumption device and ended up using Mac and iPhone for that. Tempted to get the mini 6 but pulled the trigger on 11 inch pro just for the lovely oled display which I'm sure will be exclusive to pro for many years to come. 11 inch though not very compact but still easy to handle for consumption sitting on a couch and less of eye strain reading on a phone.

    i have no knolwedge what so ever about macs and i don't care about having knowledge about them as ipad pro's are absolutely magical.

    I only bought it because I'm an artist and trust me drawing and painting feels amazing on this thing. But for everybody else who's not an artist. This is just a big phone. Do not buy it. It's basically just something to watch RUclips and Netflix on and if you want that you might as well go for the Samsung tablets. They're way cheaper and coming way bigger sizes. Samsung tablets. Don't feel as nice to draw on.

    • @TomWadeCine
      @TomWadeCine  Месяц назад +2

      If I was an artist or drawing things, i would be happy so I can see your point. As a business owner with a production crew, it doesn’t do anything for me. Thanks for your comment. Cheers!

      @@TomWadeCine yeah apple is really behind. The reason I mention Samsung is they're never afraid to try new things. Android's file system is just way easier and better. You can move things around where you want. You can drag and drop. Not as good as on PC. But it emulates Windows file system way closer.
      Their Samsung Dex is really cool. You can hook up your phone to any monitor or computer and it will emulate your phone screen so you have a pseudo desktop. Of course it's still very limited because you can only use iOS apps. But I know a little bit about software. It's incredibly hard to Port desktop applications to iOS type platforms because it's completely designed in a different way. The way touch screen is designed isn't the same as click based on PC. It has a completely different structure.
      So even if these companies want it to make a tablet that's like a computer it would take a lot of time to get to that level.
      There's rumors that Apple might make a touch screen laptop like the surface series for Microsoft. But I'm not sure if they would that would cannibalize sales from their iPad. But there might be some sort of market for it. People who use iPad. They want a simple interface and don't really want to think about complicated stuff.

    Considering the benchmarks of the M4 processor, the iPads software will never be able to utilize all of that performance pretty much ever.. It’s arguable that even the M1 air even utilizes all of its power or potential on iPadOS. We’re at a weird state in time when it comes to software and hardware. There’s a huge to pump out more powerful hardware, but so much software is so far behind on compatibility and utilization.

    I'm glad someone else said this... I HAD TO but an iPad for a university I went to about 4 years ago. They required us to use them. I'm anti Apple from the get go, but I have you admit in the beginning I liked the device. Over the years though I've only used it for very niche items such as signing a PDF file with an actual signature instead of printing something out and scanning it back in. I don't own an iPhone or an Apple laptop so don't really see the purpose of this device.

    I would give it a few more months. They have mentioned completely overhauling final cut for iPad which I imagine we’ll get to play with sometime soon after wwdc.
    I agree that I would like to be able to send the final cut file from desktop to ipad instead of only from iPad to Mac. My work around has been exporting what I have and starting a new project lmao

      I also think the subscription model means they’ll have resources dedicated to upgrading final cut year over year. I love some of what they do. Like the pencil hover to scrub the timeline is really sick.

    First, I have been using iPad Pro’s for music production since 2017 when I sold my Mac. So iPadOS is my preferred OS. Second this is an iPad Pro. If you like working on iPad this is the most Pro machine. That doesn’t mean it is a 1 to 1 replacement for a Pro laptop or desktop. It is simply the most “Pro” iPad. I don’t understand why anyone expects it to be something it’s not. That being said it is my absolute favorite device.

    • @tomwadek
      @tomwadek Месяц назад

      I’m not expecting it to replace my mac. I clearly stated it would be used to compliment my MacBook Pro. It can’t even do that. This is marketed as being a pro device capable of pro thing like video editing cost at a very pro level price that in some cases is more than a MacBook pro. The OS is severally lacking. Thanks for your comment anyways.

    Oooh! You're gonna be in TROUBLE! You didn't say everything about the iPad was perfect and the minor imperfections, you can live with (like 99.9% of RUclipsrs) and just praise praise Apple throughout the video. 🤣🤣😆 When I comment on videos about the shortcomings of anything Apple, I get the Apple Fan Boys and Girls telling me I'm an Apple hater. Which couldn't be further from the truth b/c I'm need deep into the Apple ecosystem with all my iPad M4's, Macbook Pro's, Apple Ultra Watch, Airtage, Airpods, etc. But at least someone doesn't just blow smoke about everything is good and I can live with the "minor" things that aren't right.

    TBH, I can't really see a reason you have to apologize for your opinion every other sentence :-D
    I own iPad Pro since the first gen. so I experienced pretty much every update since, and I can't help to agree upon everything you stated.
    I would love to buy new iPad Pro 12,9 with 1TB, and I am curious if Apple WWDC would solve some of my / your concerns with neutered OS features and limited app capability, but some of the features are nice even with dumbed down OS ... I hated the 1 gen. stylus, I quite like the new one - in terms of ergonomy and features, it is a big step-up, screen seems to be quite good, it almost works good with external displays / it works as an external display etc.
    Some of the features are nice, but the price is hard to swallow with the current state of apps and OS.
