I worked in a machine shop all through high school and college. All the old timers never wore eye protection. But they had the bushish eye hair i have ever seen.
@@TheHandyman1we have union residential guys here in Alaska. I do hvac/plumbing service full time and run my own contracting (handyman) business part time. I see these guys every so often. They make me laugh when they think the “handyman” is telling them about the boiler. Hahaha
Liking the series here. Glad to have some regularly scheduled content coming up. Hopefully you've saved up some videos so you can spend time with your family during the holidays.
So long as the gaming was all original and that stair wasn't added at some point, I'm guessing that the double joist that ran past the chimney, was nailed to it, and the Chimney was acting as the support.
If only I had the tools and experience as Handyman... My shower has been dripping water for way too long now. Replaced the cartridge which was the solution in EVERY video that popped up but no luck unfortunately....
Being a handyman for so many years, how could you not have a bigger wrench than the ones you’re using for those unions even as a novice I have a 36 inch 😮
I heard you mention they will be shrinking the mechanical room. Im sure your not doing the mechanical install, but I have watched a lot of videos recently on the tube about homeowners doing this exact thing, and killing their water heaters, furnaces, boilers, etc..... because they aren't accounting for the make up air required for the fuel burning appliances to function properly. I was just curious if you had done the math, or consulted with an HVAC contractor about this? There are many videos out there where homeowners are trying to maximize every sqare foot possible in their finshed basements, and leave so little room for the mechanical their appliances are starving for air and shitting the bed soon. Could you touch on this? Thanks.
I'm doing all the work. I had a guy much smarter then me do all the calculations. A 96 percent furnace is going it. It power draws air from out side and pushes the exhaust outside. No need for enough combustible air. I will go over combustible air in the future videos. I will also talk about air volume and air speed in both the supply runs and the return air.
Handyman, I hope you’re getting paid good for that job! How do you bid something like that and not lose your shirt? Do you ever work on a T&M agreement?

As a union pipefitter i grant Handyman full permission to work on natural gas, steam, water, sprinkler and crack pipe systems.
What're your thoughts on "unions?" All union guys I work with hate them called that... haha 3 piece couplings.
@@joehanika Must be a residential vs commercial thing. I have never heard of a union residential plumber.

Best video you have posted in awhile.
I started a drinking game for every time he said "double joist" and I am a wreck.
👍🍺🍺🍺
Great video as always. Keep it up Handy
I didn't' blow up. 👍

That beam "reduction" is fine with the jack studs on either side of the stairwell.. it is boxed out because stairwells are simply big penetrations
I love it when you do your squeaky voice

Eye protection when grinding Handi-Man.
He has eye protection. He was wearing his safety squints. 😉
I like this time of year. Handy starts dropping videos like crazy.
No post. It was cut away when the stairs were remodeled because of headspace without thought of the mechanicals.
I absolutely love these types or renos!
You haven't seen anything yet. Its a pretty awesome project. There are so much interesting things to uncover.
I had my safety squints on when the grinder was grinding for ya big guy so don’t listen to all these ppl hollering about safety glasses
me too
Grinder to the rescue!
Grinders are the secret weapon 🛠️🛠️
Safety glasses while grinding would be a good idea.
Really like this video. Like going to school. Thanks
10:55 OH! Snap! 😂😂😂😂
Hey handyman. How about a shirt that says " hold my beer and my caulk"! Lol 😂
Repairs, don’t need to be UP TO CODE, a whole new install, should be. But…. That’s up to the homeowner… 😊
Good day young man. I always learn so much from your videos. Even if they do apply to my project,I learn something.
You're starting to make those old man noises . Lol
I try to edit most of them out. They are usually accompanied by swear words.
Nice and sparky handy. HandyOn! Looking forward to regular vids.
Great videos Handyman. Learn a lot from you with every video you post. Thank you!
Thank you for watching and making a comment.
Let’s goooooo!

Not even the new house build are 100% to the code 😂😂😂😂😂 great video 👍🤜🫵🫡
Aw, man, that ceiling opening was just *asking* to be some sort of secret passage. Even a short one is pretty cool.
Handyman, one day, when you're grinding without safety glasses, you're gonna regret that decision.

My house has 11 post in the basement. I was going to sister about 20ft runs with a new center load. To much $$$&&
Say double joist one more time. 😂
What’s the difference between a union and a coupler?
with a threaded coupler you can separate the pipe once you screw it together.
It's not the size of your wrench that matters. it's the motion of the water. 😅
🇺🇸🤘 Heck Yeah Handy Dandy 🤘🇺🇸 btw, I really miss the sarcastic squirrel voice 😂🤣

Well, looks like that old gas shut off valve still works...lol
Always remember your safety squints!

Serious question: does any part of this project require permits or inspection?
No. Do you follow my business channel?
@@TheHandyman1 I certainly do but probably am behind a few videos. I follow all 4 channels 😏
Do you understand the concept of a thickened slab?
Yes.
No sawzall? I’d just cut the pipe
Keep on making videos for your DIY subscribers without using ear, eye and dust protection.
The “building code” is merely a suggestion.
Safety Glasses HM!!!
👍
You're talking about beams and joists, and all i can see is all those plastic pipes
same!
He's getting to work with his hands around that black pipe this episode. Looks pretty hard, even needed leverage
I got asbestos in my lungs just by watching this video
Looks pretty sketchy...I guess you will "unsketchy" it.
🎉🎉🎉🎉
👍👍😎✌️🤟
I enjoyed this video. Goodbye.
Good job Handyman!
I don't think I saw you squinting very hard for your safety squints, not very safe of you sir.
there is NO such thing as a video that is too long
The whole house might collapse on you. why aren't you wearing a mask?
