    That chip is an MOS device, all OP-Amp and MOS devices are numbered per pin that correspond with a given input or output to various devices on that chip (one of those chips could have 4 transistors or op-amps depending on what kind of chip it is) Since that is a PCB board, you cannot wire the pins to the correct outputs/inputs yourself because the path is already pre-determined. The notch upfront is telling you that it is the front of the device so you can match it up correctly on the PCB board. It would be wise to also take your time while soldering so you do not overheat and fry the device as solder guns produce a ton of heat. Not saying anything you are doing is wrong but knowledge is power! If you're curious to see what the chip actually does, you could easily google the spec sheet and look at exactly what that chip does.

      Thanks. Yea it is a process that can be easily detrimental to your ecu. I had a bad connection on one of the pins on this one, but i fixed it, so a troubleshooting video will be uploaded shortly, hopefully this week

    5:40 what's up about that capacitor? Install a new one? Remove it...?

    • @maxherman4174
      @maxherman4174  6 лет назад

      tonytober hondata includes a new capacitor in the installation kit. These ecu’s are over 20 years old and more often than not the capacitors are leaking and need to be replaced

  • @TheFettiallday

    So basically you need hondata in your ecu and then it can be tuned after?

    • @maxherman4174
      @maxherman4174  6 лет назад

      th3f3ttiallday hondata is only one of many options, but yes.

    • @TheFettiallday
      @TheFettiallday 6 лет назад

      But as far as peace of mind and the ability to make corrections yourself it might be the best way?

    • @maxherman4174
      @maxherman4174  6 лет назад +1

      th3f3ttiallday there is no such thing as piece of mind when you get to the point that you need to be tuned. Any of the options allow you to make changes to a calibration yourself. Crome, neptune, ectune, s300, aem infinity, motech. In my opinion i like hondata because i am familiar with it. Does that make it better than the others, no, its just my opinion. Most people go with hondata. As far as reliability there all the same, it really is more about the tune

    I'm lost. Do I just need a p28 and the hondata kit? Or is there another chip I have to install?

    • @maxherman4174
      @maxherman4174  6 лет назад

      Just the ecu and the hondata kit, no chip. The hondata does everything a chip does and so much more

    So I'm super confused about why your doing all this. I'll start off with 2 questions, what is the reason your chipping this ecu (what does the chip do)? And then why does honda not include the chip in their ecu, isn't the s300 the top notch computer that honda makes?

    • @austinsherwood7188
      @austinsherwood7188 6 лет назад

      And if you take the time to answer these questions thank you a lot

    • @maxherman4174
      @maxherman4174  6 лет назад +2

      the s300 is made by hondata, not honda. No honda ecu comes with the s300, although you can buy an ecu from certain performance stores with an s300 already installed . The s300 is the chip/circuit board you see me install to the stock honda ecu. Installing the s300 will allow me to access the ecu from my laptop and make changes to basically every engine parameter, at the same time monitoring the engines behavior in real time(data logging). For example, Adding a source of forced induction to an engine will require added fuel and ignition timing changes at the very least, the s300 will allow me to do these things

    • @austinsherwood7188
      @austinsherwood7188 6 лет назад

      Hey thanks so much for the information. So the soldering your doing is just allowing you to control everything through the hondata program on the computer. So hondata recommends you send them your ecu and they put the s300 on it which is what your doing. Out of curiousity do you know how much it would cost for you to send them your ecu and for them to do it

    What's that band on your wrist?

    • @maxherman4174
      @maxherman4174  6 лет назад

      Its connected to the anti static mat. Not really necessary, just a precaution against possibly zapping something and bricking the ECU

    • @lordillpala
      @lordillpala 6 лет назад

      An antistatic wriststrap. Static electricity can kill some of the microchips hes handling. Its basically a wire connecting his body to the metal case of the computer to discharge any static safely through the ground.

    How do you solder such small dots without them connecting to one another?

    • @maxherman4174
      @maxherman4174  6 лет назад +2

      Not as hard as you might think. 1)keep your tip tinned, re tin it everytime 2)use soldering flux, drip some in the hole and the solder will follow it. Practice a little bit on something you dont care about youll find that its pretty easy. You can also find soldering videos on RUclips

    so will it be easy to install if i already have a chipped ecu?

    • @maxherman4174
      @maxherman4174  7 лет назад

      That depends on what is already in there. You will have to de solder the existing 28 pin socket for the chip, remove it, and re solder in the two 14 pin strips for the hondata to plug into. Just be careful with the heat, the more times the board has been soldered on the easier it is to lift a track or just damage it from too much heat

    • @coolaznking99
      @coolaznking99 7 лет назад

      Max Herman oh so i cant just plug the hondata 14 strips on to the 28 pin socket? can i like just stick in the two 14pin strips into each side of the 28pin then install the hondata? will that work? or will it not have connection

    • @maxherman4174
      @maxherman4174  7 лет назад +1

      +coolaznboi99 you can and it should work, but than you wont be able to fit the cover back on the ecu, it will sit too high. but ive never tried it so you should give it a shot just incase. Let me know if it fits

    • @coolaznking99
      @coolaznking99 7 лет назад

      Max Herman hmm interesting. i would love to give it a shot but kinda worried about damaging the ecu. but it should work like a plug and play.

    • @maxherman4174
      @maxherman4174  7 лет назад +1

      +coolaznboi99 yea, better to play it safe. If i was you I would just do it the right way the first time, every time i try to take a short cut i end up regretting it in the end. Especially with an ecu. I found this site extremely helpful when i had to troubleshoot mine. qcwo.com/technicaldomain/troubleshooting-a-honda-p28-installation/
