Nah, comedians will use a running gag in their routine or a running punchline... I don't know what it's called, if it has a technical term or not... but they'll come back to the same joke throughout their routine at various moments... and many will close with it.
T Rock missed the point of it. Y'all can all make a joke about KFC, but if someone copied the entire thing almost word for word with props too in the same way - it was stolen.... same thing in theatre too.
