Thanks for this video! We are not far from Newcastle and like to visit Edinburgh. We have been reluctant to use the trams because of the lack of information. We now intend to give it a go! 👍😊
Just got back from a week in Edinburgh and we bought a daily, family ticket using the Lothian app. Got us round the city on bus and tram all day, super easy and a wonder for us as we're from a sleepy village in Hampshire where public transport is almost non existent.
@@edinburghandbeyond Your video is very helpful but we got back from Edinburgh before I had watched it. Edinburgh is a lovely city, I wish we had more time there but I will definitely revisit.
@@edinburghandbeyond Yes, we have been watching your utube channel since the fall of 2023. Our favourite episode is the fish & chip (the fish market). If you are ever in St. Andrew’s I would recommend ( Cromers on Union street ). You really can’t get a good fish & chips in my home city. Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. 🇨🇦 We love Edinburgh, it’s one of our favourite cities. We usually go to London then up to Scotland for 2weeks. But we decided to spend the full 2 weeks in Scotland. We are planning a trip up north to the Orkney Island. We try to see the cities and the beautiful country side. We like the added feature of the drone in your video, It provides amazing views. Keep up the great work. Hope you had a lovely Easter with your family.
Extremely helpful Video for people that aren’t sure what to do I wasn’t aware of how it worked either only found out few months ago from my sister I get the tram from Newhaven up into the centre of town and she explained as well buy your ticket before boarding.cheers and Thankyou! 🙂
A wee correction - the contactless cap does not apply to the tram. It’s bus only at the moment (they keep saying it will be introduced to the tram soon but they’ve been saying that for a year).
If you have a concession card (oap/disabled/under 21), you can only use the tram and trains if you dont live in the east, but you can still use it on buses. Only notice is when you are on the tram.
Lothian Buses/Trams really need signage at every tram stop in several languages warning people that they need a ticket before boarding. I know the touch screens have different language options but this really isn't enough.
I do find it a bit annoying having to select destination. It takes extra time and if it really doesn't matter why not just have two buttons for airport and everywhere else?
Really appreciate this video! As many times as I’ve been to Edinburgh, I’ve not used the buses or trams! Not even to Leith!! Just walked it. Excited for the next visit for sure 😊 Cheers!
@@edinburghandbeyond Hiya! Won’t be until the end of the year. Was just there in early February before going to London. Tried the Ramsey restaurant at Harrod’s based on your and the Mrs’. video 🙂 Well done on the channel!
Thank you so much for all your videos, neither me or my sister drive so when we go on holiday public transport is a must. But I get nervous when its a system outside of London as we don't know it as well. These videos are so useful and well-worded, getting rid of the axiety. Thank you again!
Thank you very much! Found Edinburgh travel really strange since here in Melbourne, Australia we have one reusable travel card called Myki that works on all trams, trains and buses in the city and suburbs.
This is a great video mate - really helpful didnt' know any of this information In my home city (Sheffield) you can't buy before you get on - so you get on and pay the conductor That's exactly what I would have done in Edinburgh too before seeing this video These kinds of videos are fab (even more so on your channel)
Thanks Michael very useful and interesting vlog. I have an over 60's bus pass issued by my local council in the West of Scotland. It is valid on Lothian Buses but not Edinburgh Trams. I think the cost of the trams means they are trying to get as much out of tourists as they can. Their staff are generally very polite and helpful.
@edinburghandbeyond You are very welcome Michael. FOI's are a joke in Scotland. they redact the important stuff, like a secret society. It's the same here with my council. Keep up the good work, 👍.
As a tram user, it's pretty straightforward that you need a ticket prior to boarding. Remember, most tourists will be from Europe where it's very common that you need to pre purchase. In any case, the natural assumption should be that a ticket is required first.
For 9.50, u travel to one stop, get off, and on another day or same, you return back to the airport when u visiting I love feedback can I ask u a few things did you watch till the end? Was the video helpful, and how did u find My video by search or browse? Thanks

@@fraserwilson227 yes. I was about to say the same thing. I guess in this situation best just the app and get a day ticket

I would also suggest if you want to go to the Airport from the centre, consider cheaper and quicker bus service alternatives.

Thanks, now I‘m prepared for my visit. What exactly is the Adult Airport Open Return Ticket?

Working am guessing buddy
Why not take the tram to the park and ride at Ingliston for £2 from the city.
Get off and walk the rest.
Save £3.50 per person.
Plenty clear signs lol
