His bluff worked because it was his friend whom he bluffed. He even said that at the end. An old buddy pulled the same stunt on me, and it worked because I didn’t believe he would bluff me. Playing with someone long enough and especially if they’re a buddy, there’s that belief they wouldn’t bluff you. Had it been anyone else I would’ve called. But at the end of the day- there are no friends in poker!

Talking about his videos not his play all the time haha. But this video for instance has 83,284 views, granted I’d say that 9,482 of those were from people who watched multiple times whether it was intentional or not. Of those views he only got 5,321. Cmon guys we are better than that. It takes him about 8 hours and 12 minutes to make and edit the video not counting the time it takes to play and only take 1.7 seconds to hit the like button. Of those viewed 83,284 minus the multiple views of 9,482 that leaves 73,802 single views and with the subs at 60,123 that means there’s about 13,679 people that have watched probably on the regular that haven’t subscribed. I was playing bellagio 5/10 like 2 weeks ago this guy looked just like u. i thought it was you until he folded for 30 minutes and i was like yeah thats not rampage
The solver actually makes that bluff with that combo of AQ about 30% of the time as you block sets, two pairs, and the nut flush. Best play I've seen Ethan make honestly
Yup. I was thinking about that the whole time the hand was playing out. On the river I thought it was really nice that Ethan's hand blocked not only nut flushes but also KQ. A lot of good it did him as his opponent had KQ anyway...but at least he got it through. Personally, I think the sizing Nate chose was too big to include 2-pairs with no diamond as he didn't really leave room for himself to bet/fold (even though he somehow found a fold here). If he goes slightly smaller ($380) he can bet a little wider for value and then he can more comfortably fold some of that value range (mostly weaker 2-pairs and maybe this combo of KQ).
@Kody Stutzman Disagree that nut flushes should be barreling all the time. Nut flush draws have a lot of showdown value and there were even some pair+nut flush combos available (notably AdQd). Betting the turn in position with a nut draw AND showdown value is not very common when you can just check back and realize your equity.
Aq vs KQ. That was one of the best bluffs I've seen on this channel considering you had the nut flush blocker. You've clearly grown and play well. I've criticized your play but I'll give respect where its due. Good fold by him with KQ w/o a diamond. Most people wouldve called there and burnt their money on fire.
Nice bluff Ethan. You ran it against a strong player you knew could lay down a strong hand with the nut diamond blocker. AND....you got it on your vlog! Epic.
I think the KK value bet with a 4 liner was a better play than the AQ bluff. 99% of people would check back against a loose agressive with that kind of show down.
Fun vlog, but you should make note of stack sizes once you get involved in a hand, that's an important factor in how the hand should be played. You do mention it sometimes, but not always.
I make that AQ bluff all the time in lower stakes. But you gotta be careful because it gets called a lot more due to it being a much smaller amount of cash. Well played Ethan. You should stay at these stakes where you will actually make a big profit and improve as a player overall!
So funny to get a shot of the guy with preflop range index cards. Strange to see this on this Vlog because I saw something kinda similar in a game I played last week. There was a guy at the table who was just being a maniac and sun running. Playing any two from any position and running crazy bluffs too. A couple hrs into the session I glance in his direction and see that he's looking at pre-flop charts on his phone, and suspiciously looking around like he was trying to hide it from everyone. I laughed so hard inside, the maniac with a 99 VPIP is studying PF charts while at the table. LOL
Watching rampage think his hands thru. I actually have a very similar mindset and thought process at the table. Every microstakes online session I’m steady going up until one fateful bad beat where I lose it all lol
That 10 9 of clubs, blind vs. Blind is a great candidate to call getting 3 to 1. Easy to play post flop. Looking for 2 pair or better or flush draw/ combo draws. Why put in a 4 bet if you're just going to fold for 1.5 x more.
"if theres anyone that could fold out these really strong hands, it's NATE!" "we know that if there's one thing he doesn't have, it's the NUTS!" "anyways, wrappin up the session" *..nonchalantly walks away* Rampage, easily my fav vlogger 4 all the unintentional comedy; dude turned Nate into a meme.. lol
Be careful making those river bluffs, it's good that you pulled it off but if he did have a diamond in his hand he's going to be calling, your table image and the fact that he knows you well really helped you there as most rec players probably call you down (but then you probably don't bluff in that spot in that case). Either way, nice play Ethan
Hey, just to let you know for if you do read this, the 4-bet with Tc9c wasn't your best play imo. The 3-bet to 130 was around 4x the previous raise which indicates a ton of strength, the guy is unlikely to fold to a 4-bet if his 3-bet was that size. Being that you didn't have a traditionally strong pre-flop hand, I think a call or even a fold was the move here. Best wishes
The AQ bluff is very player specific. A bad player will just call because they are too committed. A bad reg will fold because they try and over-exploit the field and will level themselves into thinking that no-one bluffs here and fold a small flush. A good player will just close their eyes and call with any flush and maybe some weaker holdings with a high diamond in their hand.
Happy for you my man. Went to Caesar’s palace two weeks ago while in Vegas and punted 2k in an hour. I flopped nuts in one hand with suited 79 and villain hit runner runner after I jammed about 1.2k... flop came 568 rainbow and he had 5/10 offsuite. Turn was a 9 river was a 7.......
Nate made the common mistake of betting too much of his stack on the river so any bluff would of put him in a tough spot..two pair has to call that especialy against Ethan but thats why Ethan is the Chinese Tom Dwan
The video is wrong. He jammed $2,000 not $1,250. I also think even aggressive players like Ethan are underbluffing certain spots and I believe this is one of them.
Agreed. Ethan's bluff was basically a min click. Nate expanded his value range too far for a bet that big and he got punished. A bet that size should be reserved for flushes and bluffs with the nut blocker. Everybody applauding Ethan for a sick play needs to understand that it only worked because Nate made a huge mistake. This should not have worked.

When i first started playing poker Id play 5NL/10NL online and thats when I would study. Friday/Saturday nights @ the casino was the time to really play for the $ :P
Not sure I could have ever made that AQ play but never would expect a polarizing pot sized bet after check check with 2 pair. Missed draws or sets/flushes sure but not that hand. Crazy. He bets 175 for value and you fold every time lol
You’re game play is getting much better, the jump from 1-3/2-5 to 5-10 requires you to bet larger amounts/continuation bets to isolate opposition. The majority of your raises were called, so you need to work more on the sizing of bets if you’re in a 5-10 game, as it seems your betting the same amounts as a 2-5 game. The difference is 5-10 players will always call because the raises are too small for them. This will come with experience, the more you play 5-10. The more confident you’ll become. You’re bluff was class, well done
I'd have raised preflop on the kj suited. Big blind isn't out of position as I play, it controls the action. You bet they call. You check and no one is going to risk getting raised. Thats my view on kj suited in the big blind.
you need to stop 3-betting suited connectors, these types of hands have decent equity against over pairs and when you give them a chance to 4-bet and blow you off your hand it sucks and you miss out on being able to stack them when you flop a strong hand....also you don't block any of their strong hands, you're better off 3-betting suited wheel Aces because if you get 4-bet with those it's not a problem to fold as you're not giving up much equity and you block AA and AK and can sometimes even bink an A against KK, QQ or JJ.
It just almost cant be a bluff because Nick bet so big. Actually a good fold by a good player. What I learned today: Bluff raising all in over the top of someone showing strength (in certain situations) may actually be better than bluffing when the op shows weakness wheen playing good players. Cudos, sick bluff, a great spot for it in some respects Thanks for sharing .... My boy Ethan - Yew!
Hi Ethan. Hope you’re doing great. Sick bluff on that AQ. Good your friend did not call you with top pair. Enjoyed the vlog. a lot. Take care and stay safe. Ciao🌹
This is a serious question, why 3 bet to 300 and fold for another 430 . Its slightly double what you've already invested while playing semi deep and you have a hand that has great equity against all hands ever AA
only about 22% equity against AA not that great but that's why we don't 3-bet these low suited connectors, much rather flat and make a straight or flush and stack overpairs...
Not lying when I say this. The river spot you put Nate in where he said it was an "epic bluff" is basically a standard play in my Thursday night home game...lol. Just 2 weeks ago I 3-bet flop and overbet jammed 1.5x on the turn with a stone bluff. Just goes to show you how soft some of these live games are when people never see these kinds of plays and don't know how to react to them.
Lol how ridiculous do you sound. Not all bluffs are created equal. I’m currently playing Wynn $5/$10 on the regular which is an uncapped game and see bluffs for piles of money all the time. You make some drastic assumptions about the games I’m used to. 3betting flop vs a check raise and then bluff jamming turn is a far more standard bluff than checking back the turn in a 3bet pot and then jamming for 200bb over a very polarized river lead because your range is uncapped the entire time whereas Ethan mostly capped his range on the turn. A play being “standard” or “epic” has nothing to do with the amount of money/bb and everything to do with the nuances of the strategic mechanisms at play. A flop fold in a 10bb pot could be considered an epic fold depending on the action/board texture whereas a 3-barrel bluff for 300bb could be considered extremely standard depending on the action/board texture. Now, was his bluff “standard” given his exact combination? Maybe so. He has the absolute perfect candidate to take this line with and I would’ve likely done the same thing in his spot. But from a range vs range standpoint given the action, taking this line as a bluff is sort of epic/unique if you forget that Ethan has exactly AdQx. I’m also curious if you implying that I don’t know how to react to these plays means you think this is a standard call with no diamond? Would love to hear your reasoning if so, genuinely curious. I’m open minded about it, haven’t ran a sim on this hand and intuitively I don’t lean super far one way or another except maybe in the sense that there are certain lines in live poker that are highly underbluffed, even for aggressive players like Ethan, and I think this is one of them. But obviously that line of thinking is purely exploitative and ignores theory so I’m all ears.
@@nateserisky4599 I think the whole misunderstanding is that you guys were significantly deeper than Ethan's video suggested. That simple editing error drastically changes the spot in terms of what your betting range, bet size and continuing range should look like.
I don't understand why the bluff with AdQx is that "insane" of a bluff. It's just a bluff with a blocker... it's how good bluffs SHOULD be constructed. Nice bluff Ethan
I know. Additionally, Ethan wasn't deep enough to have much fold equity. His opponent's sizing was too polar in a spot where his range wasn't and that's why the bluff got through. Basically, Ethan lucks out again by running into an opponent at the bottom of a poorly constructed betting range ( for the sizing he chose).
The candidate itself is not insane. It’s the line that is cool and unique. Most people will not find any bluffs on almost any board texture after 3betting pre, Cbetting flop, checking back turn, and then facing a near pot bet on the river.
@@connman8d617 think I already mentioned that the vid is wrong, 2k shove not 1250, but now I’m curious why you think my range shouldn’t be polar? What hands want to bet river in my spot for value? KQ is maybe the worst one yet it’s still top 2 pair in a scenario where it’s very hard for my opponent to have better unless he has exactly Qx of diamonds. If what you’re saying is that it’s hard for me to be bluffing and therefore I’m not “polarized” then I’m on board, and actually do think I should’ve bet smaller for that reason. But the hands I’m betting for value are quite strong and would fit nicely into the top of a polar range if there was a sufficient bottom.
@@nateserisky4599 Well the effective stack depth being deeper changes a lot. I don't dislike your sizing as much given that you were only betting 1/4 of the effective stack as you did have room to bet/fold to a jam. The reason I felt like you needed to be a bit more polarized in this spot is that I didn't think you had room to bet/fold. So I would be inclined to bet just a little smaller if I'm going to include KQ combos without the Qd. But, of course, given that you were deeper than I thought I think your line was much better. Betting $500 to then fold to a jam for $1250 would have been atrocious.
Sick bluff. His fold was good though cuz he could have been conceivably beat. Bluff was risky though. Glad you came back. Lolol those biggers games are tough because them boys aren't afraid. Yes you were being targeted. Wtf you walked away from the guys at the end LOL. Bad sendoff. Gotta fix that type of thing.
The last hand when u had Q♦️/10♦️ u put a caption up saying u were open ended on J♠️8♣️7♠️Flop and then u said you had a gut shot when the K♥️ turned. Assuming graphics error or misspeak. Good vlog!
The bluff was good but I dont think that crazy of a play... the way the action went you having a flush made a lot of sense and even if he had one too it put him in a tough spot. Of course I dont play high enough stakes to ever be in that situation but just watching all I was thinking was jam!
@Kody Stutzman Not disagreeing with what you say. I’m coming from the angle where a player hasn’t got a decent hand to play for hour(s), gets frustrated then decides to open his range and play with a lot of inferior hands. That’s when he’s in for a rough ride.
All day I’m calling with the snowman lol! Flopped quads a few weeks ago. Pre flop I raised 15, guy shoved for 110, I called out of spite and on tilt from hand prior and was rewarded with quads on the flop. He rivered the boat with queens over lol. Also, I was dealt pocket 4s a couple of days ago and thought about you, what happens, I flopped the set with A4K board. Kaboom 💥
I've been waiting to see that AQ hand for a little over a month, well played sir! Nate was not running good that day, he 3 bet me twice and I had AA both times, first time board was too ugly to get value with 1 pair but 2nd time was cooler iirc. I remember the guy in seat 1 punting about 5K and reloading twice for 1k, and calling seat 8 a "calling station" for picking off his bluff that didn't make sense with 88, was that the J7 guy?
That bluff was your best play yet. All your action pointed toward the nut flush.
His bluff worked because it was his friend whom he bluffed. He even said that at the end. An old buddy pulled the same stunt on me, and it worked because I didn’t believe he would bluff me.
Wow what a bluff. You are an absolute champ
Hahahahaha yo im geeking how you just walk away from nate at 20:35 and he has absolutely no idea whats happening
"You're the only person I could pull that off against" ..daps him up then nonchalantly walks away turnin angles..xD
Great Bluff. Great Play..
That was an epic bluff.
Best of luck mate , have a lovely weekend !!! Regards from UK
do you have a coach?
Best plays from you so far
Epic bluff...that's what you call having the "nuts" lol
Where can I get that vibes hoodie
I was watching your video and thought my phone was glitching out with whatever that green stuff was 😭
Anyone else see that?
Yeah
Well done, man. Plus entertaining video. All good.
The last hand when u had Q♦️/10♦️ u put a caption up saying u were open ended on J♠️8♣️7♠️Flop and then u said you had a gut shot when the K♥️ turned. Assuming graphics error or misspeak. Good vlog!
he prob meant to say he improves FROM a gutter
best session so far! 💯🔥
comeback was real!
I’m have been trying to buy your gold chip but it’s never on your site
That bluff was great! You have major cojones!
Seriously epic bluff.
Watch out bro those people you played with or about to play with knows how you play because they watch your vlog😂
Great vid as always!
The bluff was good but I dont think that crazy of a play... the way the action went you having a flush made a lot of sense and even if he had one too it put him in a tough spot.
Of course I dont play high enough stakes to ever be in that situation but just watching all I was thinking was jam!
That straight. From a $65 pot to a $1000+ pot on one river, just, wow.
It’s not how many how many hands you won in a session, it’s how many hands you lost is more important.
@Kody Stutzman Not disagreeing with what you say. I’m coming from the angle where a player hasn’t got a decent hand to play for hour(s), gets frustrated then decides to open his range and play with a lot of inferior hands. That’s when he’s in for a rough ride.
"I really expecting to take it down often, sometimes" huh? I am lost!!!!
Always down for 5/10 action 💪
How long you there? Ill be there next week.
Great bluff!
Lol and I had AK both times
Nice Vid bro!
Ethan you need to loosen up a little and call with that suited connector in position sometimes. Wow, did I just tell Ethan to loosen up...hehehe
Can’t believe a dude who knows your style folded that two pair 😂
You could use that index card too
You said you had a tight image and the bb 3bet you. Call with the medium suited connectors next time.
Dude are you at MD LIVE today 3/19?
Yes
i havn't used index cards since 5th grade
At 1st pocket 8's u have heart and club, not spade and club like it shows... I don't know if u noticed but I do... 🤭
