STORYLINE:
Members of the British royal family attended a ceremony in Scotland on Thursday to mark Prince William's graduation from university.
William achieved a classification 2:1 (second class upper) in geography, after four years of studying for his Master of Arts degree.
Cheering crowds greeted his father the Prince of Wales and stepmother the Duchess of Cornwall as they arrived for the ceremony in St Andrews, Fife.
The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh arrived a few minutes later to see their grandson collect his academic award.
Ahead of the graduation ceremony, Prince William he said he was delighted he could share the occasion with his family.
The Prince also paid tribute to the Queen, who, it was feared, would be unable to attend after catching a bad cold earlier this week.
William, 23, expressed his sadness at leaving St Andrews in Fife, Scotland.
Clarence House announced that the Prince is to undertake work experience in the City and join a mountain rescue team after his summer break.
William, who is hoping to enlist in the army, has already passed his first round of tests to train at Sandhurst like his brother Prince Harry.
But prior to any military career, he will, among other things, spend time with a financial institution in London.
Prince Willam flies out to join the British Lions rugby squad next week at the invitation of coach Sir Clive Woodward.
