I have a free wheel. I have a disc brake and I DON'T have to deal with
the evil coaster brake. Free at last, free at last! 🤓
I could do the front as well but I'm not sure I want to - hmm...🤔

You could make a simple bracket to replace the cable tie

    Great mod, congrats!
Could you tell me which children's bike did you end up using for this purpose?

Sure. Check out this Aliexpress link:

      Thank you!
You showed this one previously, but on Ali it looks to have a very different disc (in the disc brake) than in this video. So I thought that since then you found a different model
So it probably means the picture is not a super accurate representation of the actual product, but good to know that this one will definitely have a disc brake that will fit.
Are you planning to also replace the front wheel? Seems quite straightforward, and that bike has disc brakes on both of them

@@Neuromant1991 Yes, the images they use are not accurate. Also, I ended up changing the caliper as the original was pretty poor and I've just upgraded the disk now as well (video to follow) so I only ended up using one wheel from the whole bike - this is an experiment though so waste is to be expected.

      @@LiveTorsionParadoxTo ah, typical Ali :D
Well, I am certainly looking forward to your future experiments.
Personally, I was thinking of going straight for a rear e-wheel and only then thinking of best brakes to use, whether they would be disc or rim
This listing on Amazon seems to be appropriate. Pedalflow's wheels are classed as 14", correct?

Getting rid of a coaster brake sounds very nice. When cycling over worn-out road surfaces, the Pedalflow's rear hub starts making all sorts of rattling sounds because of coaster brake. It performs the function quite well, but is super distracting, annoying and gives a feeling of riding a garbage can.
It would also be wise to think of a way to reinforce the middle of the main pipe of pedalflow. The area just in front of the place where the bottom bracket is attached is prone to snapping and this is how I lost two Pedalflows (both were warranty replaced).
Another area prone to snapping is the cranks, but you have replaced those already. A crank snapped when I was moving at a rather high speed and gave me a few unpleasant gashes in the skin.
However, I am not very sure about the cranks you chose as they may be a bit too long for such a bike. A lot of turning can be done by leaning your body and that can be difficult when the cranks can nick the ground at a slight tilt.

@@Neuromant1991 Yes, I went with a 135 - another guy on youtube put a 150 on his but I thought that was a bit much. I am used to this kind thing tough as I grew up in the 1980s, building bmx bikes and dealing with the many limitations of the kit available back then. If you are used to moving around a bike, and paying attention to stuff, you should be ok. I've had this out on roads and off-road/green lanes with no issues so far and I think the 135 is a sweet spot between clearance and looking like a pigeon-stepping pixie with the ultra shot original crank arms. By the way, the wheels are 12" - something to bear in mind if you want to make changes. 😉
