    I just recently "made" a stand up skate bike with one, two, or occasionally no handed usage in spirit of the Pedalflow...takes some practice to ride it.

    I had hoped they would come out with a more robust steel or partially steel version for extended usage but I guess that would defeat the main selling point of it being lightweight enough to carry around.
    I changed the gearing by replacing the back cog from a 12 to a 19T so I could go uphill with it. This also seems to make the coaster brake less sensitive to accidental engaging.

      Thanks for the info on gearing and rear cog👍. I am determined to ditch the coaster break and get discs all round. This may involve cutting the rear coaster arm mount down to avoid it hitting the disc - l'll upload a video with results.

      where can buy those 19T back cog compatible? lol

    Question what are the pedals thread size 1/2 or 9/16

    • @LiveTorsionParadoxTo
      @LiveTorsionParadoxTo  9 месяцев назад

      Not sure - I'm using a box five crank - so that will have the same thread as any mtb or bmx.

    Interesting project but I don't see it very practical in real life. I would suggest to take a look at the 12 inch kickscooter, Boardy All black carbon fibre.
    Fast, small enough to take it anywhere and very comfortable ride.

      True, it is a bit of a chocolate teapot - just couldn't resist the quirkiness of it. And offers another chance to see what I could do with something. I'll check out that Boardy scooter. Sounds interesting.

      Boardy is out of stock on every scooter they sell, and has been for the past year. I'm thinking they might have gone bust!!! Either way Boardy scooters are stupendously over-priced, which is probably why you (me) never see one on the road!

    Hi.. great content and advice. I am planning on buying one this weekend (second-hand for £150) But I am seeing so many pedalflow users (on youtube) brutally transform their pedal flows I'm beginning to wonder if these bikes are any good and worth me spending my money on!? Is it really worth buying considering the operation you have to perform on it to suit your needs? Also, has anyone checked to see if the manufacturers (Micro) haven't already got plans to release an improved version, if they haven't already done so??? Thanks again.

      Great question - and not the easiest to answer. This was a pet project for me and something of an experiment. I don't rely on it for transport. I loved working on it and it's great fun to ride but I think it may be better suited to more urban environments or on good paving/road surfaces. Having said that, it is great fun on green lanes and you can just stick it in the bath and hose it down after with the shower - it's that small. I think it would be great as part of a commute from the train to the office etc. and a lot better than a small wheeled scooter - but yeah, I spent a fair amount of money on it. It was a great problem solving exercise and I learnt a lot from it without being overwhelmed as it's very simple mechanically. Yeah, so I hope that answers your question.

    What's the disadvantage of this model?

    • @LiveTorsionParadoxTo
      @LiveTorsionParadoxTo  4 месяца назад +1

      In it's standard specification it is badly geared - hard to get going. Also, it has a VERY short wheelbase and very steep head-tube angle so the steering is VERY quick and can be difficult to control. If you try and bunny hop it, the back can flick under your feet towards the front of the bike and leave you on your ass. You need to be a reasonably skilled and careful rider not to die in traffic on this thing in its standard spec. This is why I heavily modified it and made it much safer and MUCH more fun to ride and own - see my other videos. Also, the coaster break is a nightmare/death trap, that's why I swapped it out for a disc break - this makes a massive difference. If you are a skilled rider and are prepared to do the work, it can be amazing fun. If not, I think you'll find the novelty wearing off pretty quickly.🧐

    Nice video. I have two pedalflows, but I have modified them much less. Could you tell the name or give the link of the Chinese bike you will use?

      Yes, go here:

      The forks probably wont fit but the breaks have smaller rotors and look very light. I am currently doing some more involved mods to the front end and should get a video up soon. 👍

      @@LiveTorsionParadoxTo thanks!
      On this one, I will wait till you make a success video :D
      Personally from my experience of cycling in London, number 1 thing a Pedalflow lacks is any sort of suspension/shock absorption. West and South West London roads are really, really bad, their edges seem to have been damaged in a military conflict whereas their middle seems to have been ploughed by some overly optimistic farmers. In addition, the other areas of the roads have been affected by some intense geological activity.
      So yeah, even after a week of servicing the Pedalflow, the road shakes something loose in the coaster brake and it starts rattling. It brakes just fine, but the rattle us persistent. Also the giant screw that holds the handlebar attached to the fork can be shaken loose on the road, leading to wobbliness of the handlebar. The vibration that affects the bike is my number one enemy, but I see no good way of attaching any shock absorbers except for lots of welding of new components.
      The second thing I am very interested in is an electric upgrade. I saw short videos by a person called Leeroy Ellis, who installed some sort of a hub motor into the front wheel, along with a disc brake. He also seems to have replaced the original rim with one more suitable for such a modification. However, so far he didn't write about any parts that he used.

    • @LiveTorsionParadoxTo
      @LiveTorsionParadoxTo  3 года назад

      @@Neuromant1991 Yes, I've seen the Leeroy video. There are other options for electrification - personally I would go rear wheel drive with a freewheel and think a lot more about cable management and a cleaner look etc. I was thinking of doing that and have some kit in mind that looks superb (i.e. much nicer magnesium wheel design with built in motor and freewheel compatibility etc.) but that may or may not happen depending on how much fun I have human powered. Also, have another compact e.v. coming, I want to modify, so not sure I need yet another. New video for the Pedal-flow to upload tonight - made some nice changes today😉

      @@LiveTorsionParadoxTo wow, really awesome! I will be looking out for the new video :)
      If it is not too much trouble, could you advise on what kit you are thinking of?

    • @LiveTorsionParadoxTo
      @LiveTorsionParadoxTo  3 года назад

      @@Neuromant1991 Because I would want it to look and work like a shop bought product, it would be a combo of different bits from china - I need to do some more research around compatibility before I commit to a final set-up. I would definitely do a video though. Next job for now is breaks and may-be gears...
