Cracking bit of kit them retro drains are , the heater is not using too much really . Hopefully works better for you now all round , glad the grow n show went well looked a good turnout and they all seemed happy with the koi. Great fun as always Dave keep safe.
I’ve just come across your channel and done a bit of a binge 😊 Just subbed 👍🏼 I’ve got a retro drain in my pond and I love it. However I agree, I think you need a big pump for them to work at their best. I’ve got a 20k on mine and it’s a great combo. Loving the grow on though mate 👍🏼
Thanks for subbing - Hopefully you enjoy the channel. Yeah, deffo agree they need a good size pump. As the area of the grow on is only small, it’s doing surprisingly well. Best wishes buddy 👍🏼
Nice, I am waiting for a glass fibre tank to come for my grow on, and I was planning to make my own retro bottom drain, just to try it out, anyway enjoyed your vid Dave, best wishes, Tony😀
Hi Dave most grateful if you could please tell me what is the make and model of the pump you are using in conjunction with your retro fit drain? Thanks
Good move to fit the retro Dave, I used one on my first and second main ponds, and worked very well. If you find its not collecting enough, you could also fit a ring of air hose the rim of it, drill small holes in it every cm and connect it to an air pump, there you go, aerated drain. That really helped mine. 👍🏼 It will also be well worth it, fibreglassing it, I’ve recently posted my tank glassing pics. 👍🏼 I’m sure Jamie will be on soon enough to tell you the red lipstick is Kuchi Beni 😊 😂
@@edenkoipond Ideal Dave, I hope they help, my videos are short and sweet but hopefully gives the general idea of what its like. Oh and please subscribe whilst you are there 😂, need all the help I can get…..🤣 👍🏼
I'm having a massive issue with my drain, the model of this with aeration. So I'm connecting with the soft flexi clear hose. 5000l pond, 10k pump hosing to that then to filter. Starts well, but after half a day the feed has slowed to a trickle and i cant work out for the life of me why. If i remove the drain it works fine again. All i can think is trying the ribbed flexi pipe you just have....
Hiya buddy. What size pipe are you using? Also, have you cut the hose tail right back and not left it restricting flow? Any signs of string algae in the pond?
@edenkoipond no algae. Pipe is 32 mm. And hose tail is right back. The bottom drain supplier says it must be my pump isn't man enough. But I'm surprised at 10k it can't manage.... thanks for your answer sir. I have ordered a variable 20k pump anyway as I could do with the upgrade, and he gave me it at cost of 114quid to help me out getting the drain running.
Great bit of pipework there mate 👍👍Heating the tank is working out cheaper than I thought it would. That's a great grow on tank 👍👍Spring is on the way mate, take care, Terry. PS don't know if you've seen this, but how many koi are in the grow on? ruclips.net/video/dmdTE6uTfc4/видео.html&ab_channel=AdamJulyan
Thanks Terry. I love Adam’s videos, he’s got a cracking setup. Weather here has been good today. Even managed to give the grass its first cut! Fingers crossed it stays. Hope you are well and the weathers been good your end. Best Wishes 👍🏼

Hi Dave most grateful if you could please tell me what is the make and model of the pump you are using in conjunction with your retro fit drain? Thanks
Hiya buddy. Thanks for watching. The pump is just a cheap All Pond solutions 6500lph. In the small setup it works a treat. Best wishes 👍🏼
That is great thanks are you pleased with the new drains ability to remove solids compared to the original arrangement?
