Well, nice to find an actual review of this one, not a lot of info anywhere else I looked. I had mine for about half a year, no issues so far.
It's great to se USB Type C coming to more radios. I would love if a company found a way to put out batteries for other HTs with a USB C charger built into the battery. Having one less cable to worry about is a huge bonus.
Oh, great reviews too
The BL-8 (for the UV-82 family) now comes with a USB C charging connector on the battery. At least the US BTECH ones do - if buying elsewhere, "your mileage may vary".
This video was very helpful for me and I say "thank you". We live in the Philippines and in the past 15 years have suffered one magnitude 7.2 earthquake (2013) and two category 5 typhoons (hurricanes), the last of which passed right over the top of us last December 16/17, 2021. Am considering this model as a SHTF radio, so both the waterproofing and USB charging are important design features. After the last typhoon we had no power for five months and lived on 5 and 12 Volt solar power.
eto din reason ko kaya napabili ako neto tanong ko lang malayo range inaabot ng sayo? sakin kc parang mahina mapuno kc dito samin
You have great videos on these radios and you're very truthful I go by what you say before I buy😊
Glad you like them! Thank You!
Thank you... I bought this on an accident and I liked it. This helps me a lot I need to hand radios. If you can do a further video on this would help a lot thank you.
I recently got a UV-5R and had the same cradle charging quirk. Glad you experienced the same thing, confirming it's not a one off
I'm glad to hear someone else had the issue also!
I'm always so appreciative of these style of reviews. I wonder what the selectivity of this radio is and if it is a bit lacking like the UV-5R.
Hey thanks. It's a bit lacking like the uv5r. I'll see if we can compare them and a few other radios in part two
Absolutely love your videos and your technical sills!! I have learned a lot from you!!
I looked at these but ended up going with a couple of the Radioddity GS-5B’s. They are Bluetooth programmable, micro usb chargeable and splash proof. Allows tx on GMRS/FRS and MURS. Not allowed per FCC but nice to know the possibility. Great radio.
It's actually MARS MOD .... it's all OPEN :)
A must have for any emergency!!!
I bought one of these radios off of Temu during a flash sale for $4.19 for the radio. There was a $10 min order to get the deal but that's no biggie. It arrived after the delivery deadline so Temu gave me a $5 credit because it was late so I got it for free basically LOL!
That's a deal! Should I do a temu episode ?
@@HAMRADIODUDETemu use to have these radios on sale for $3-5 pretty regularly but I haven't seen any on sale recently. It may just be target ads towards me or may not be but there definitely at least use to be good sales. I also got the $3 UV5R for signing up with Temu which was the catalyst for me to get my license and start to be involved with the hobby. Most expensive $3 deal ever!
Glad I saw this review, which hand held radio would you recommend instead for newbie? I don't have a license yet, and I want too use it to listen to weather alerts and FM radio, or have it for emergency when hiking. I am not really planning on transmitting anything, and I have PMR Walkietakie for that, which don't require license. If this radio had 0.5W lower power setting, I guess it could have been usable as PMR walkie talkie as well, but sadly lowest setting is 1W ?
Interesting little radio. Thanks for the review!
Great video and the only guy that I have heard that can pronounce Baofeng 100% correctly. I am an American living in China for 12 years and it is pronounced exactly as you do. Bow (like the bow of a ship ) and Feng - rhyme exactly with "hung"
I was bound to get it correct at least once!
Если вы европеец, живёте в Китае скоро станете азиатом 😂
One thing I think you gotta cover is the voice quality audio. It's common UV5R's report muddy/low audio on transmit. How does this radio compare in that regard? Cheers.
Hi, which ham radio would you recommend for sht fan scenario. Min 30km needed . In Canada. Thanks
Thank you. Great review on this radio. I may look for one.
Great Radio ... it's a real Baofeng :)
Hi there. How do you make the display single band display only. Thanks
Ordered a pair for a bike packing trip the coming June before I saw your review. Planning to use them for bike-to-bike communication and emergency communication in dead cell zones. There is repeater access along the 800 km route. I have a ham license and didn't want to bring along my heavier Kenwoods. Even though they are "fakes" the components are not. LIke the idea of being able to charge from a USB ....
They'll do well for you. USB C on a bike is definitely a good feature, I understand that. GOod luck with the trip
Gracias! estaba a punto de comprarla!!!! thank you!!!!!!!!

I have one in a shelf. I configured it, and programmed it for a customer. She has not been back for it yet. She left it in January. I am thinking of making it mine. It is obvious that she is not returning for it.
It's got Boafeng guts...lol Good review as always. Thank You, always an honest review.
It's a real Baofeng LOL
The high power Baofeng tend to have 3 levels of power in the setup when the 5W radios from them have only 2 levels... And for the batteries, no matter what chinese people try to tell you there is no 5A/hour battery, the best one I tested was 1600mA/h (1,6A/h) which is more realistic for 3X18650 like it seems to be in their batteries enclosures!
@hamradiodude I have not been able to figure out how to get this radio to program through CHIRP. I have tried resetting to factory and going in that way using both BF-F8HP and UV-5R (as I saw some recommend). I am fairly new to radios. Any advice?
Absolutely. What programming cable are you using? Most of these kenwood style or two prong cables work okay, but some wont work for baofeng radios. Are you using windows? If so, check the device manager under COM Ports to see the cable is detected and installed properly.
Well they will keep coming out with different styles but I can't be motivated till some other fixes are applied to these radios .
Single display or dual modes.
S/RF meter that works.
Twin band vhf UHF with 2 vol 2 squelches.
Aircraft receive. .
200 channels .
AAA dry cell pack included .
Hey how is 5 volts charging 7.2 volts on mini USB I always wondered.
Good video and glad you share plus and minus"s.
Thank you!
One interesting thing to try is using a nanoVNA-H4 or better. I own the H4 version. Set it up for measuring VSWR between f.e. 100-500 MHz and store the settings. With a µSD card you can even make screenshots.
That way, it is very easy to compare the frequency-response of various antennas. And I've seen very bad ones, which claimed to perform best on 2m/70cm - they didn't. Generally, I found that 70cm works sort-of-ok (
I'll give it as shot!
Great video, I recently ordered the UV-13 Pro V2 which is evidently not supported by CHIRP. I think I’ll return it for the UV-16. Is the UV-16 capable of transmitting out the box or do you get the rejection beep. I’ve had to modify my UV-5R and GT-3WP to get it to transmit in case of emergency by pressing a series of buttons. Is there a similar process for the UV-16?
It was just open out of the box as I recall. Cheers
The antena plug its like the uv s9?
Just got 2 for $24. Still learning how to work them.
Sean .... Thanks for lifting the hood on this one! It has a 427 HEMI ... er .427 something! 🙂 73 - KF6IF

Should be a few weeks, thanks! Take care
@@HAMRADIODUDE Hot tip. There is a dude on yt who dropped this in a bucket of water already. It is NOT waterproof at all. Minor splash proof MAYBE. But I wouldn't get it wet.
I have used this radio in a garden nursery farm setting for 2 months.
What you don't know is that you can use this also for FRS and Murs because that's all I use on these things anyways I have lots of them and I'm going to put this one on my next buy list because I'm going to see how this works on those two bands that are license free one is VHF and the other is UHF that's the only difference between FRS and Murs but they do come in handy I can tell you that
UHF/VHF and GMRS? Sounds like a win to me! I'm a ham and have a GMRS license. I could care less if it's type accepted by big brother.
You, Sir, are a Happy Ham haha.
@@jj-zy6gc LOL, no sad hams here!
I take a pragmatic approach. If you are in a box and transmitting, could anybody tell that you are breaking the law without opening the box to see your radio. If you are transmitting on allowable frequencies, with a clean signal, proper deviation, and using allowable power, then it should not matter what equipment you are using. The "clean signal" is where the Chinese radios sometimes become questionable.
@@harrkev spot on. In fact, this is also the opinion of the FCC.
LOL
I have just bought this radio. I have programed channel frequency to 462.125 to communicate with my other device... it receives incomming sound, however, it does not transmitt my voice, although, the other device lights up as if its receiving but no sound. Any ideas?
Your tone is enabled on one but not the other. Ctcss tones in the menu usually display as t code and r code or someone similar
Could you review the 10w model of this radio? I want to know the max range of it and everything?
I'm going to jump to the assumption that it's falsely advertised and it's really the same radio as the one I reviewed. It's quite a lot of money to determine that, but If I happen to get my hands on one I will for sure!
It's a Baofeng not a Baofung. LOL and it's been out since June 2022 ... it's legit, glad to see you were able to get one in the states... their not available in the states when they came out in June but since you have one, yes the signature wattage isn't as real as it says and yes it's not the company it's the seller that's doing all the advertisements to get you to buy one knowing you can't return it anyways sadly as it is. .But yeah looks like you're the first person to get one in the states. Have fun with it.. we have hundreds of them here and they're just like the Baofeng UV5R but bigger in size and yes the antenna is junk really and yes about 70% of them the antenna came off so yes that part is true. Battery is about 2,200 mAh at least not 5,500 or whatever the label is saying. Just ignore the marketing scheme and as always Baofeng will never make a 12 watt radio nor a 145 watt LOL it's always 5watt or 8 watt and that's it. Enjoy it
Well at least your review is HONEST. Even if their advertising isn't... which is everyday now 😣. Do these people not understand we have smart ham radio gurus, who do video reviews? Or are they just betting people won't bother returning their junk? Or can't return their junk?
I think this radio is made for the non ham users. Lots of people illegally use these as GMRS or the "prepper grid down" type of person.
@@matthewnett Yeah, those same nut jobs live in underground bunkers, drink radiator hooch juice, and don't pay taxes! Most have a tattoo on their shoulder that say "Momma".
China doesn't care ... they just want you to buy it ....:) They also false advertise in other countries not just yours .. it's Marketing
Any idea if the uv-5r battery will work on the uv-16 , or if there is any interchange-ability with a legit radio?
I'm certain that it will not work with the uv5r, but not sure about other legit models. I highly doubt it, but cannot be certain
Great video.. informative and no B.S. oh by the way.. caught the “wink”. Smooth!
Thanks.. Yeah, I knew the wink would bring all the crazy upset people out of the woodwork. I throw an easter egg in every video, sometimes not as obvious... but I do it for a laugh, yet someone always takes their ball and goes home. I'm glad you enjoyed it and had a sense of humor. Have a good one.
Got an UV16 today. It's the same like what the man here reviewed.
Enjoy!
Very helpful video....i am also thinking upgrading my backpack setup with a new radio with a USB Type C option....but i am not sure.....too many UV options.....any proposal?

The UV13 Pro might be the better choice. It actually does have 999 memories. As Ham Radio 2.0 confirmed. The UV13 Pro's menu is similar to the TYT UV88 or Retevis RT85.
Just checked it out. Totally looks like a Retevis/tyt! Great radios
@@HAMRADIODUDE Just Remember / Retevis / TYT / Baofeng / Yanton and a few others. Their just around the corner from each other. I talk to the Sales Manager on a daily basis regarding new radio's and updated POC radio's they have :) so pretty much if it looks like a Retivis it's because of engineering duplicating each other's product, especially the fake Motorola radio's out there that has the Motorola name but it's a Baofeng 888 inside :(

How to program on chirp?
Hi, I have a dilemma between 2 versions. This version 16 max for this version 9r pro. Which one is better and why?
Their both the same, nothing really different about it. Just the looks but everything inside the radio is the same .. it's like the difference between a 2015 Camry and 2019 Camry .. just different looks updated mags spoilers side skirts front air dam bigger wheels for the 2019 Camry, same concept as the Baofeng UV9R and UV16R Pro
How can i connect with 888s
tnx, helped a lot
Thanks for the very informative video. There is one thing that I would like to point out when doing your receive test with the NOAA weather station. NOAA stations are in the 162MHz band, which is 20MHz higher than the 2M band. There is a possibility that the original antenna (not the one that came with it) is a bit more broadband or possibly tuned higher compared to the OEM antenna that came with the radio. A test within the 2M and 70CM bands would be a better comparison. Perhaps get a friend either simplex (on a base station) or via a repeater to do some transmissions with the HT remaining in a fixed position. You can then try other antennas and/or another radio at that exact position for comparison. Since there will be peaks and nulls depending on the exact position of the HT, and the frequency, you may want to find the best position for VHF, and another position for UHF. Again thank you for the video, especially the testing you did with the "battery that lies" about its capacity. Craig K4MMX
That's a fair point.. thanks, I appreciate it. Now to go find some local friends. 😎
@@HAMRADIODUDE You're welcome. If you live in South Florida, I'd be more than happy to help. If you don't know anyone close to your QTH, perhaps perform the receive test during a local net on a repeater. In my testing of various HTs, I have found that all the Baofeng type radios are about the same sensitivity using the same antenna. The antenna is what seemed to make the most difference. I don't have one of those really expensive Cushman or Motorola analyzers, so my results are based on "quieting" like you did in the video. I have gone as far as trying to check the resonant frequency of the different antennas using an MFJ antenna analyzer, but the results I got did not make any sense, or correlate to actual use. I think that the factory antennas for these radios are very broadband and tuned a bit higher than the ham bands - especially since the manufacturers know people are going to use them on FRS and GMRS, and maybe even some VHF commercial frequencies (such as 154.600 green dot.) Even though it is technically illegal to do so, the FCC does not seem to be enforcing this - and in a life and death or destruction of property scenario, it is legal to transmit any way possible according to Part 97.
Heh. I appreciate it. Those were solid suggestions. I can definitely find someone to help me test further. I'll put the more technical results on part 2, as I also want to display the spectrum purity
Why did I pay like 80$ for a "btech" uv 5x ? Well the reason I did is because it was advertised as Tri-band...but I was pretty new and later found out it's the same exact thing as the 35$ UV 5R . Or is it? If I remember correctly I could only find daul band uv5r.
They only cost P1,200 here in Asia .. that's like $24 bucks ... Boafengtech buy's it cheaper around P300.00 to P500.00 that's about $6.00 to $8.00 and sells it tripple the price. Quantity is what Chinese love when it comes in bulk ... If baofengtech buys 500 units .. they get a huge discounted price, maybe like $5.00 a pop and then it goes from there :) Profit margin is just a WOW
Fake Fengs, what is the world coming to! Great vid.
Negative it's REAL
In fact, UV-16 is indeed a product of Baofeng. You can find this product if you switch Baofeng's homepage to Chinese. And UV-16 is also in the radio license catalog of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China.
Yes you're right. I've mentioned it through the comments a few times: it simply wasn't the when I made the video

I bought a Baofeng uv-13 pro and think that's an okay radio. USB-C charging on the battery means that the USB charging doesn't have to be on an installed battery. That's a good thing, because when charging the uhf receive somehow is disabled.
Oh interesting.. The pro has usb on the battery. I'll check out the charging and UHF with the USB charging. I am curious now. Thanks!
I have a uv-13 on the way. Any luck with CHIRP on it?
@@shaneklingler5135 Didn't work on Chirp for me yet. There is decent software available, but that's not Chirp (yet).
I bought one from temu for 8 bucks but when i got it it had no model number anywhere. Not even the instructions.
Some YT videos on this radio say it will Tx and RX in the 220 range too. So now I'm confused because this video only claims dual band. Maybe they do now and this is an older video now. just saw a video where they tested transmit on 220 and showed a bit of a harmonic (but not too bad) on their SDR receive software.
I don't really have the radio around to look, but as I recall it's open on a ton of frequencies from the 100 megahertz range up to the 400 megahertz range. The thing is is if you're trying to transmit on 220 with this you're only going to put out about a quarter of a watt, or very dirty emission. Just because I can transmit somewhere doesn't mean it would be effective, essentially
Just to clarify, yeah it'll transmit on 220
I hope in the future it should have the Motorola style programing to be pure IP68
It will never be .... China is always simple and they'll never have signaling like Motorola Gstar or MDC1200 or even MODAT which is my favorite. Sadly .. they will not spend more money on software like Motorola and implement it to a Baofeng Radio. Baofengs are rated Disposable Radio's here in Asia .. they only cost like P1,200 for a UV16R Pro .. it's almost $24.00 here .. we had bought 15 pieces and tested them all ... just 5 watts output to 6 watts
Yes there exist oficial Baofeng UV-16 on the oficial site!!!
Hi, the video is probably almost a year old. When I made the video, a baofeng uv-16 didn't exist on the site. I know, because I checked.
If I get stitched up by an online seller like that I just ask for a full refund. If it’s not what you paid for it’s free 😂
Have you found any programming for a UV-13
I hadn't looked. Thanks
What voltage did you test the mAh? I've seen many consumer batteries listing its individual cells at X milli-amp hours, but once you convert to the target voltage of the device it's considerably less. A better metric is how many watt-hours.
Batteries are always tested at the battery pack’s output voltage unless otherwise stated. To test at any other voltage would require adding a boost or buck regulator into the circuit and one only does that when trying to determine the actual runtime of a specific device at a simulated load. Most of our HTs will run from a 7.2V 2S lithium-ion battery pack, so the voltage range would be around 8.4V down to about 6.1VDC as the pack discharges. Some advertisers will cheat bu summing the capacity of the two batteries in a 2S battery, which would yield a false advertised capacity of twice the true amp-hour rating since then the quoted capacity is based upon two 3.7VDC batteries in parallel. But in this case they were claiming more than 4 times the measured battery capacity. If memory serves, the actual corrected capacity of many Baofeng radios is around 1800mAh @ 7.2V (even though my original batteries all claimed 2800mAh), in which case his measurements would represent about 70% of that capacity…which is likely closer to the truth.
But, yes, watt-hour is a more ideal measure in the sense that it communicates total battery capacity irrespective of whether cells are in series or parallel and regardless of how many total cells there may be…but, if the seller or manufacturer is prone to lying then even that unit of measure does not get us any closer to the truth short of doing the test ourselves, as was done in this video!
Thanks @Ethan Poole . Yes 8.4 down to around 6.1. The battery tested at 9.11 wH if that helps. I'm going to do some more reading on wH, mAh etc. This sounds like a perfect time to invite you on the show @AD6DM Dennis :)
@@HAMRADIODUDE Just to clarify, I wasn't trying to diss the video or your measurement HRD, it's a great you did that and very informative vid. Just was curious if the stated rating for the batt was clearer on what they were measuring. It's true like Ethan said, they puff up these stats for marketing and it's a bad practice.
@@ethanpoole3443 They lie to us here in Asia also .... especially direct sales ... and I already know that Baofeng will never make a radio over 8 watts that's why the ICE X2 12 watts was rated the most Powerful Radio In Asia 12-14watts and that's a re-brand of a Yanton Radio. OK so i figured it out. This is actually a tri-band UV-S9X3 internally. This can transmit on the 1.25M band (200-260 MHz) So for CHIRP I use the UV-S9X3 profile to make use of the additional band.

@@HAMRADIODUDE I live in Portugal, europe. CB range is 26,965 MHz to 27,405 MHz. Im asking because it seems the uv-5r its possible to unlock it and use a huge range of frequencies.
What I really want is a quality Japanese analog-only HT with USB charging. I think that Yaesu makes a USB HT, but it has digital modes and goes for north of $400. However, I would not mind spending that much money if it did ALL digital modes. But, instead, the digital world is broken into individual fiefdoms that don't communicate well with each other. In my area it seems to be mostly DMR, with Yaesu system fusion being non-existent. So clearly paying big bucks for digital modes that I can't use is not going to happen.
Maybe the big three should stop trying to push their digital modes, and just give customers what they actually want?

BaoFeng UV-16 MAX High Power IP68 Waterproof Walkie Talkie UV16S
Too bad you didn't provide a link in the description to be able to purchase one of these it would be helpful to newcomers on the channel so they can start getting their feet wet with the radio

Their available in China, you can order them from Shopee or Lazada or Amazon
I have a Wouxun uv3 that can do ham and gmrs
I'm also a fan of wouxon products.
Good luck finding a replacement battery for it
You're right about that.. and I think that's a very important thing I missed
Eventually they'll make FAT batteries or Extended for Marketing Purposes .. It's a REAL BAOFENG
they will come out with it.. sooner than you think :) usually the battery is good for 3 years to 5 years at least we have hundreds of these UV-16Rs just a bigger uv5R version I think ... cheers
Hi real power is 5w or 10w ? thanks
I thought it was in the video?
i would like that handheld 2way radio with bluetooth, to use it with a bt headset. i think that would be so much more covenient. of course waterproof like some of the other handheld 2way radios. when transmitting they get very hot, its conenient then to pour cold water on the to cool of. a repeater functionality would be great, put that thing on weatherballoons and let it arise up into earth atmosphere when its dx contest time on 2m and 70cm, i wonder how far that would reach out. the screen should have a switch to fully turn off to spare battery, or some sort of screen that draws only very little current from the battery would be more useful, longer use time per charge. there is once in a while a new handheld radio from china, more often than from icom, kenwood, alinco and yaesu, but so far i have seen never a handheld 2way radio amongst them that has these functions and i think those features would be all very usefull.
This sounds like something wouxon would do
@@HAMRADIODUDE wouxon / baofeng / pofung / yanton / alpha radio / tyt are pretty much the same idealisitc radio just different engineers always engineering something different.
it's awesome to use with a headset using one now while driving it's so handsfree with the right setting VOX, not with a Baofeng with another branded radio actually
Only way to prove waterproofing is to dunk it
Most definitely....
LOL it's the same as the Baofeng A58
Worse yet unless someone like yourself tests one of these radios on a Spectrum analyzer we have no clue as to whether it’s splitting out spurs and harmonics. Some of these radios coming out of china are fantastic value, others spurious junk.
Awaiting a new attenuator before posting the results. Thanks
@@HAMRADIODUDE Sorry I really should of added in the first post. Love your video and presentation style and thank you. 73
@@LanceVK6LK_AussieHam hey totally, I appreciate it. Yeah that's the one thing about these radios is even if my radio label the uv16 passes the emissions test, there's nothing saying that another radio labeled uv16 wouldn't have completely different internals and failed spectrum purity. It's pretty interesting stuff. Hopefully that attenuator will be here soon. Thanks, btw
You'll just waist your time putting it on a spectrum analyzer .. A Baofeng is A Baofeng same guts but just different skin
And NOAA WEATHER TRANSMITTERS CAN GO UP TO 250 WATTS
COOL STORY BRO. WHY DO WE CAPS LOCK?
It just got stuck on after NOAA I guess.
@@paulsengupta971 that's a good guess. I'll go with that. So as I recall, that NOAA runs 300-350 watts and is capable of up to 500.
I have three of these. They are super rugged. They are also tri-band TX/RX including GMRS. The only draw back is the battery is screwed on. Not easy to remove quickly. … and for the Sad Hams, no, you DO NOT NEED A LICENSE in an emergency no matter the band. And no, it does not have to be a life-threatening emergency. 😊
Don’t let anyone try to tell you that 97.403 is a Get Out Of Jail Free Card that lets you use any equipment on any frequency in an “emergency” - It does NOT!
1) Note that 97.403 never mentions the words disaster or emergency - instead it spells out exactly the conditions that must be met before it applies - and ALL those conditions must be met. The communications must be ESSENTIAL to the IMMEDIATE safety of human life and IMMEDIATE protection of property, AND ONLY WHEN NO “normal communication systems” are available. And even when all those conditions are met, remember that 97.403 applies ONLY to “use by an amateur station” the instant you tune that ham rig outside the ham bands you are no longer an “amateur station” but have suddenly become an unlicensed, unauthorized, pirate radio station violating the rules of whichever radio service the frequency actually belongs to.
2) Each service has its own rules for emergency communications. NONE of the other services have anything even close to 97.403. In fact the vast majority of services are covered under the general emergency communications rule 2.405 “Operation During Emergency” which says: “The licensee of any station (except amateur, standard broadcast, FM broadcast, noncommercial educational FM broadcast, or television broadcast) may, during a period of emergency in which normal communication facilities are disrupted as a result of hurricane, flood, earthquake, or similar disaster, utilize such station for emergency communication service in communicating in a manner other than that specified in the instrument of authorization: Provided: ”
…
“(d) That in no event shall any station engage in emergency transmission on frequencies other than, or with power in excess of, that specified in the instrument of authorization or as otherwise expressly provided by the Commission, or by law”
The bottom line is that you should forget about anyone telling you that violating the normal rules is ok in an “emergency” - There might be a once in a lifetime situation where you would choose to break the rules to save your own life or someone else’s life - but if you are going to make that decision it better be for a once in a lifetime situation that you are willing to lose all your radio licenses and all your radio gear.
I wouldn't trust a Baofeng in an actual emergency license or no license. Also you need to know how to use the radio and how it's going to function in emergency conditions. The only way to do that is to use it, which you DO need a license for. You can't train with it legally without one.
I am out of cell service doesn't qualify as an emergency!
@@chrissewell1608 ironically, that is one of the qualifiers FOR AN EMERGENCY. Read the Rule before spouting off nonsense. It literally says when there is no other means of comms. I.e. your cell doesn’t work.
@@Dusty_Ham by all means don’t use one then. I’ll take my chances. 🤡. And PLEASE cite a case where ANYONE has been fined for using an out of class radio. You can’t cause it’s never happened short of using it to intentionally disrupt.
Remember this, Baofeng makes the radio, english speaking/writing resellers create the advertisements.... Do not blame Baofeng for the lies, mistakes, misinformation, ignorance the American resellers push.
You missed a few videos comment on..
True ... it's the Re-Sellers and Companies not the Manufacturer
Rather baby walk😢talki, 2.5 W 😂
Human, even Retevis made a better copy of the UV5R! Imagine now China copying China , it does not makes huge differences!
Retevis and Baofeng is the same .... nothing different both companies are just around the corner from each other. LOL
lol so true .... and most of the manufacturers are next to each other like Retivis is just around the corner from Baofeng LOL
@@houndcomradio then it's about design, I prefer Retevis, the Baofeng looks like GI Joe toys.
The last Baofeng I had gave me RF burns on the palm of my hand even at low power. You get what you pay for.
User error aye
yuppers that's so true you get what you pay for a disposable radio actually. Sorry to hear that.
People who say "simyooler" really get on my nerves.
Then unsubscribe.

Leixen is always the best #1 power house in the world HT average 20 to 25 watts UHF and VHF
@@ccleanerboom » The only two things about the Leixen that bother me are, 1) I don't want my head in the same room with that antenna! and 2) it has a display that's so ugly only a mother could love. ; ) I've seen the claims and figured they may actually be true because of the cost and because the butt-ugly display. BTW, after insulting it so, I have to ask whether you have one and, if so, have you tested the power claim? The one primary use that would appeal to me is that, if the stats are true, I could use one as a ✅base station, ✅mobile station, or ✅walkie-talkie. Using it as the latter, one could undoubtedly crank down that power to a safer power level.
