This song is such a great dance tune! It was huge in the clubs in 1978, I believe. This was Peter Brown’s biggest hit and followed Do You Wanna Get Funky With Me. Very typical 70s funk and fun- dance 🪩 and “get funky” with whoever you please 🎉 Good times, for sure! Many thanks, Marcus, for this really fun blast from the past! Harri, it sure looks and sounds like Betty to me. Great reaction!

Thanks for the awesome reaction, Harri! You definitely put the "fun" in "funky." I was a freshman in high school when this song came out and immediately loved the beat and its booty-shaking groove! When you said, "It's too funky in here. I feel so good that I want to jump back and kiss myself," I laughed out loud!🙂 And yes indeed, that is the beautiful Betty Wright!

There was a lot of great, funky beats in the later part of the 70s. Check out Rose Royce singing, Car Wash.

Yep - one of the best & funkiest songs ever! I may have suggested this one to you years ago. I was working at a radio station when this came out in 1978 and another incredible tune is "Funkytown" by Lipps; don't know if you've already reviewed that one. Disco got a lot of nasty criticism for being "lightweight" but I thought much of this music was steeped in soul and/or R&B and wonderfully funky as well as fairly timeless in its appeal. I didn't know that The Cleanup Woman was singing backup here - thanks for the trivia. Two more groovy cuts by white artists; Orleans (known more for "Still The One" and another "Dance With Me") had a lesser hit with "Reach" and they go to church & get down on this number as well as Valerie Carter's* cover of "Ooh, Ooh, Child" are priceless. Please check them out. *Valerie was a background singer for Jackson Browne & Linda Ronstadt along with many other major names & she had a 5-octave range.

Classic!!! What I listen to on the regular!Funk, R&B and disco is my wheelhouse. Want more, Harri? React to TOM Browne’s “Funkin’ For Jamaica” and that’s Jamaica, Queens, NY 🗽. Same era; I PROMISE you will LOVE it. Please react to it; we need more funk 🙏

i think betty wright is sometimes credited as the singer of this song (before peter brown) in some catalogues. They both sound great together! this one is a jammer.
